The recent artificial intelligence (AI) boom covers a period of rapid innovation and wide adoption of AI intelligence technologies across diverse industries. These developments have fueled an unprecedented frenzy in the Nasdaq, with AI-focused companies experiencing soaring stock prices that raise concerns about speculative bubbles and real-economy consequences. Against this background, this study investigates the formation of speculative bubbles in the Nasdaq stock market with a specific focus on the so-called Magnificent Seven (Mag-7) individual stocks during the AI boom, spanning the period from January 2017 to January 2025. Learning Camp, Language Of Instruction, And Education Outcomes: Evidence From A Field Experiment In Malawi, Hyuncheol Bryant. Kim, Kim

We conducted a randomized experiment to study the impacts of a summer learning camp and the language of instruction on education outcomes. The program, covering social studies and mathematics, provided additional high-quality learning time for 4th and 5th graders in Malawi. The program significantly increased test scores in social studies and mathematics (0.24–0.36 standard deviations). We find suggestive evidence that the impact on test scores in social studies was greater for students instructed in Chichewa, the local language, than for those instructed in English. However, we find no such evidence of differential impacts on test scores in mathematics by the …

‘Trade wars are good, and easy to win,’ tweeted Donald Trump in 2018. The US–China trade war that followed proved otherwise – especially when confronting a major economic power. Yet, can trade wars ever be good? While the academic consensus holds they harm all participants, we argue that under certain circumstances they can produce positive outcomes. Remote assistance through robotic telepresence could involve both control and memory challenges, particularly in one expert to multiple workers situation. In this work, we proposed a novelty language-driven interface to facilitate remote collaboration through telepresence robots. Through operations and maintenance expert interviews and a scenario simulation study, we identified key pain points in executing one-expert-multiple-workers remote guidance using the telepresence robot and proposed two design goals, which together consist of five sub-design goals with corresponding features. Introduction: Task-sharing of obstetric ultrasound between nurse-midwives and doctors has the potential to operationalize the World Health Organization’s recommendation of at least one ultrasound before 24 weeks of gestational age for every pregnant woman. Here, we report on the feasibility, acceptability, and effects of the Mimba Yangu (My Pregnancy) task-sharing approach in rural Kenya.

Methods: We conducted a pragmatic trial including 28 primary care facilities between April 2021 and March 2022, selected based on feasibility criteria. The relationship between the food environment, intake, and health is complex. The purpose of this study was to evaluate if food environments in proximity to Black pregnant women in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area were associated with prenatal eating habits and if these eating habits were associated with the risk of developing depressive symptoms in pregnancy and postpartum. The study also aimed to understand if there was a relationship between prenatal eating habits and the decision to breastfeed and if the onset of postpartum depressive symptoms has any effect on this relationship. Post-stroke aphasia often results in significant impairments in speech production and auditory processing, necessitating a deeper understanding of the underlying neural connectivity within sensorimotor networks. In this study, we investigated neural connectivity within sensorimotor networks in individuals with post-stroke aphasia (n = 16) compared to neurotypical controls (n = 16). Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data were acquired during speaking and listening tasks, accompanied by normal or randomly pitch-shifted (±100 cents) altered auditory feedback across trials. Purpose

To compare the predictive accuracy of subjective versus objective assessment of three-dimensional functional drained liver volume (fDLV) for clinical success after percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD).

Materials and Methods

This retrospective study included patients with malignant biliary obstruction and hyperbilirubinemia who underwent de novo PTBD between January 2016 and February 2017. Clinical success was defined as achieving total bilirubin level less than 1.8 mg/dL (30.8 μmol/L) within 30 days after PTBD. Seven interventional radiologists independently categorized subjective fDLV into four groups: less than 30%, 30%–50%, 51%–75%, and greater than 75% of the total liver volume. BACKGROUND: Empiric antibiotic treatment for gonorrhea (GC) and chlamydia (CT) is common in U.S. emergency departments (EDs) due to the delayed availability of test results. Local studies have identified sex-based disparities in sexually transmitted infection (STI) care, with females potentially receiving less empiric treatment than males. This study evaluates how STI treatment aligns with laboratory-confirmed results to quantify potential overtreatment and undertreatment rates and investigates sex differences for these outcomes.

Patients with multiple myeloma (MM) meeting frailty criteria have worse outcomes than those identified as non-frail. Here, we present a post hoc subgroup analysis of IMROZ, a global, phase III, open-label study investigating isatuximab (Isa) with bortezomib, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone (VRd) followed by Isa-Rd (N=265) versus VRd followed by Rd (N=181) in newly diagnosed transplant-ineligible MM (Ti NDMM) patients using the simplified International Myeloma Working Group (sIMWG) frailty score. Although patients aged >80 years were excluded, there was no exclusion for patients meeting frailty criteria. BACKGROUND: The association between child abuse pediatric (CAP) assessments and child welfare outcomes is unknown.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the association between a CAP determination of the likelihood of physical abuse and change in child placement. We hypothesized that child race would be associated with CAP determination of abuse likelihood and child welfare outcomes.

PARTICIPANTS AND SETTING: Children under age ten years with in-person CAP consultation and referral to child protective services for suspected physical abuse at a U.S. pediatric referral center participating in CAPNET, a CAP research network, from 02/2021 to 01/2023.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate parents' experiences and perspectives about pain communication with healthcare professionals in paediatric rheumatology.

METHODS: Data were collected using semi-structured telephone interviews with parents of children/adolescents recruited from three UK tertiary paediatric rheumatology centres. A framework analysis was used to characterise parents' experiences and perspectives.

RESULTS: Eighteen parents participated. Their children had a median age of 13 years (SD= 3.16 years, Range= 6-16 years, 55 % male), with diagnoses of chronic primary pain (e.g. Ehlers Danlos syndrome/Hypermobility) and chronic secondary pain (e.g. Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis). Psychometric properties of opioid craving assessments are underexamined, limiting their potential utility for treatment studies of opioid use disorder (OUD). To address this gap, the current study aimed to evaluate the predictive utility of the Heroin Craving Questionnaire (HCQ) for future substance use outcomes. Treatment-enrolled participants with OUD (n = 128) completed the Heroin Craving Questionnaire (HCQ) at baseline and were followed up to assess future return to use versus abstinence. Individuals who maintained abstinence at each of three follow-up visits also completed the HCQ again.
