This paper discusses the concept of meta-prejudice and the Human Nature approach, including the research conducted and the findings obtained. Starting from the idea of meta-beliefs, Putra developed the concept of meta-prejudice to examine prejudice and intergroup hatred. Unlike Putra (2014), Cahyaningtyas (2015) applied this concept to the realm of male-female relations, particularly in relation to the feminist movement. Furthermore, based on the belief of some lay people that humans are inherently good, Putra (Putra et al., 2018; 2022) developed the Human Nature approach, which is expected to reduce prejudice and intergroup hatred. Individuals need close friends. How is close friendship developed? Generally, closeness in friendship can be developed and maintained if the relationship is equal and mutually supportive. The purpose of this research is to develop a model of friendship closeness, with reciprocity as the antecedent and equality and support as mediators. The participants in this research were 234 first-year students at Universitas Gadjah Mada. Data were collected by survey method. Closeness, reciprocity, equality and support were measured by Likert-like scales which met the criteria for psychometric property tests. BACKGROUND: Distal bowel perforation by peritoneal catheter (BPPC) is a rare complication following ventriculoperitoneal shunt (VPS) placement for the treatment of hydrocephalus. In some cases, BPPC may present with extrusion through the anus and can occur years after VPS placement.

OBSERVATIONS: The authors report the case of a 30-year-old woman who had a VPS placed 8 years prior and found a catheter protruding from her rectum. Having pulled out 1 foot of catheter, she presented to the hospital where the shunt was externalized before concurrent VPS removal and laparotomy to repair the bowel perforation.

Historical information on tribal populations in the United States is scattered and discontinuous. A significant part of the discontinuity is the gap between 1900 and 1970. This paper describes a process that may partially fill this gap by developing decennial age-sex data from 1900 to 1940. Where temporally consistent, we compare these estimates to those done by others. This work provides a point of departure for generating more demographic information about the Hopi from 1900 to 1940 and, ultimately, beyond 1970, a critical turning point regarding the increased availability of American Indian data from the U.S. Census Bureau. Although there are exceptions (forced migration and retirement migration, for example), international migration is largely driven by people of working age. Population forecasts to the year 2100 show that the numbers of people of working age (20-64) will diminish in North America (Canada, Mexico, and the United States), and dramatically diminish among those of the younger working ages (20-34 and 35-44). While authors tend to focus on the “illiberal” challenge, this article is concerned with its jurisprudential dimension: what exactly is wrong with autocratic legalism? CONTEXT: Simulation-based medical education (SBME) is a method for enhancing learner skill prior to initiating care for real patients. Although the use of SBME continues to grow, there is limited data on simulations related to osteopathic medical training. Osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) applies hands-on techniques to facilitate healing. We hypothesized that the use of SBME to closely mimic OMM provided to the hospitalized patient would help to increase individual knowledge and comfort with OMM techniques and increase the likelihood of a learner utilizing OMM techniques on patients.

Through a robust network of support, young people can successfully transition to postsecondary education and obtain meaningful career opportunities. The objective of this study is to examine social media mindfulness and other social media habits as predictors of depression in adolescents. As depression and poor mental health increase for American adolescents, so does the research surrounding the positive outcomes associated with mindfulness. It is possible that mindfulness could be an effective tool in managing individual social media habits, however, very little research exists exploring the effects of mindfulness on media use. By utilizing wireless sensor technology in conjunction with cameras, a wide range of environments can be visualized, and objects within these environments can be tracked and monitored. Fractional Brownian motion is a Gaussian stochastic process with long-range correlations in time; it has been shown to be a useful model of anomalous diffusion. Here, we investigate the effects of mutual interactions in an ensemble of particles undergoing fractional Brownian motion. Specifically, we introduce a mean-density interaction in which each particle in the ensemble is coupled to the gradient of the total, time-integrated density produced by the entire ensemble. We report the results of extensive computer simulations for the mean-squared displacements and the probability densities of particles undergoing one-dimensional fractional Brownian motion with such a mean-density interaction. This study compared gonad development between wild-sourced and hatchery-bred silver therapon Leiopotherapon plumbeus. Wild fish from the east bay area of Laguna de Bay, Philippines, and hatchery-bred stocks grown to adult size in outdoor tanks were sampled, and somatic condition, gonad histology, gonadosomatic index (GSI), gut index (GI), and hepatosomatic index (HSI) were assessed during the annual reproductive cycle. Hatcherybred fish condition was generally better than that of wild-sourced fish as a consequence of readily available food resources and environmental conditions. Fragrance in rice is a culturally and economically significant trait in Asia and around the world. This study aimed to develop a genetic and geographic profile of the fragrance-associated BADH2 mutations (badh2.1 and badh2.11) in 1,067 rice varieties from China, Laos, and Vietnam, which are part of the International Rice Genebank Collection. Seventy-three varieties were found to carry the common eight-base pair (bp) deletion in exon 7 of the genes (badh2.1, also known as badh2.7), primarily from indica varieties, with some belonging to japonica, javanica, and intermediate varieties. Sorghum is a cereal crop with significant potential, considering its benefits as a food, feed, or bioethanol source. Aside from being a drought-tolerant plant, sorghum can grow in different land conditions, with varieties Bioguma 1 and 2 considered to have high yield potential. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the growth and yield of these 2 sorghum varieties using a randomized block design with 3 replicates. The results showed that Bioguma 1 had a significantly better growth performance and produced a higher yield compared with Bioguma 2. However, systematic analysis of its CF projects remains limited, raising key questions such as what qualifies as a CF project, how the Paris Agreement has influenced the Bank’s CF, and whether CF projects are directed to areas of greatest need. This paper describes the commitments and standards of practice required by those wishing to write from a faith-informed perspective – particularly, a Christian worldview frame. It highlights elements of Minkyu Lee’s award-winning animation Adam and Dog (2011) by way of illustration and argues a new role for faith-informed storytelling that correctly resists the temptation to preach especially in a world where any project deemed to promote an organized religious agenda, however simple or subtle, is apt to be ridiculed, marginalized, and ignored.
