Teenagers' lack of digital sophistication and cyber hygiene makes them vulnerable to social engineering attacks, especially as they start using social media. Clickbait, one of such attacks, is primarily performed through social media to trick users into clicking on malicious links. With teenagers' increasing use of social media, clickbait poses a substantial threat to their online safety. The existing online safety measures for teens mainly focus on parental mediation, which can be perceived as restrictive and privacy-invasive. Disabled people face a testimonial double bind: Either (1) they give entirely positive testimony about their disability, which may not be believed, or (2) they give some negative testimony about their disability, which either (2a) may not be believed, (2b) will risk reinforcing false and harmful stereotypes, or (2c) will risk damaging disability rights. While (1) has been discussed to a significant extent in the literature, (2) has been discussed to a much lesser extent, and a goal of this paper is to explore (2) in more detail. Abstract This meta-analysis sought to determine the overall association between self-compassion and openness to experience across the existing body of literature, as well as to add to the currently limited research on the associations between the individual subscales of self-compassion and openness to experience. A systematic search was conducted throughout several databases, including PsychINFO, ERIC, SCOPUS, and WorldCat Dissertation Search, using the following commonly used search terms: self-compassion, self compassion, Self-Compassion-Scale, open, openness, Big Five, HEXACO, and NEO.The study carefully extracted a total of 122 unique effect sizes (Pearson’s r) from 37 different samples, drawing on data from a combined …

Correctional psychology, a subfield of psychology, has long been comprised of its own distinct purpose, focus, and competencies. Yet correctional psychology remains unrecognized today as a formal American Psychology Association (APA) specialization. Unlike forensic psychology, without an APA specialization, and subsequent structured training standards, scholars have argued that correctional mental health professionals may be ill-prepared to navigate unique ethical dilemmas inherent to the correctional environment. Consider an embedding of a graph G(v,e) with v≥1 vertices and e≥0 edges into a closed surface s, with r resulting regions. If G is connected and every region is a 2-cell (a so-called 2-cell embedding), Euler’s formula is the relation v−e+r=χ(s), where χ(s) denotes the Euler characteristic of s. Here we give a generalization of Euler’s formula which applies to any embedding (2-cell or not) of any graph (connected or not) into any surface (orientable or not), with several interesting corollaries. Innovative aircraft design and emerging technologies are enabling new types of uncrewed, high-altitude long endurance (HALE) vehicles, including fixed-wing HALE vehicles and stratospheric balloons to operate above 60,000 feet. However, due to a variety of factors including the diverse performance characteristics and extended mission duration of these new vehicles, the Air Traffic Management system faces challenges in meeting the needs of this high-altitude environment. To address these challenges, the Higher Airspace (HA)/Upper Class E Traffic Management (ETM) concept proposes using a scalable, cooperative approach tailored for high-altitude operations. This study examined the consequences of mono and hybrid natural fibers on the mechanical and fresh properties of self-compacting concrete (SCC), in response to the growing demand for environmentally friendly building materials. In mono fiber, Abaca fiber (AF) at 0.25% and 0.5% dosage, basalt fiber (BF) from 0.25% to 2% at 0.25% increments, and sisal fiber (SiF) from 0.25% to 1.5% at 0.25% increments were evaluated through slump flow diameter, T500, compressive and tensile strength. AF at 0.25% ensured good flow with 6.6% and 4.16% higher compressive and tensile strength over 0.5% AF. SiF up to 1% improved strength but …

The Laurentian Great Lakes significantly influence the climate of the Midwest and Northeast United States due to their vast thermal inertia, moisture source potential, and complex heat and moisture flux dynamics. This study presents a newly developed coupled lake–ice–atmosphere (CLIAv1) modeling system for the Great Lakes by coupling the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Unified Weather Research and Forecasting (NU-WRF) regional climate model (RCM) with the three-dimensional (3D) Finite Volume Community Ocean Model (FVCOM) and investigates the impact of coupled dynamics on simulations of the Great Lakes’ winter climate. This dissertation examines three bird-themed chamber works for coloratura soprano, flute, and piano, exploring how the human voice and flute intertwine to emulate birdsong and convey emotional depth. A mathematical model for damage propagation based on nonlocal potentials is developed within the framework of peridynamics. This model is applied to simulate damage evolution in cyclically loaded structures. By neglecting inertial effects, a well-posed quasistatic formulation for cyclic loading is obtained.\\ The resulting equation is expressed as a nonlocal and nonlinear integral operator that couples damage evolution to the deformation field.\\ This coupling occurs through the product of a damage factor and the derivative of a force potential. The damage factor ranges between zero and one, where one represents undamaged material and zero indicates complete damage.\\ It serves to …

Sociological literature written about Black folks interprets their sexual behavior as unhealthy, risky, and non-normative. Black people are seldom acknowledged as humans, so it is not surprising to discover a discourse that does not portray them as sexual subjects. Studies examining Black sexual subjectivity through white and colorblind ideologies dominate the discussion, reproducing racist discourse historically ascribed to Black bodies. Guided by Audre Lorde’s concept of erotic as power, I document an alternative epistemology about Black sexuality. For example, racial inequalities are apparent in educational outcomes and regarding to asset-ownership. The aim of this research is to develop a climate threat risk assessment scale for galleries, libraries, archives, and museums within the State of Florida. Current research neglects the localized impact of tropical cyclones, inland flash flooding, and exposure to SLR on cultural institutions. Tropical cyclone events bring in flooding, intense wind speeds, and power outages which affect these institutions. Tropical cyclone data from the National Hurricane Center are used to represent historical wind occurrence. Unsafe abortion affects millions of women around the globe every year. Unsafe abortions are more likely to occur in countries with restrictive abortion policies. Yet, these policies persist, and the worldwide trend of liberalization of abortion laws is at risk of reversal. There is a disconcerting lack of research regarding what factors cause governments to enact, retain, and enforce restrictive abortion policies. This paper is an attempt to fill in such a gap. While consequences of equine obesity are well defined, the extent to which persistent hyperleptinemia and accompanying leptin (Lep) resistance affect the fetal-maternal environment warrants further exploration. This study compared endocrine, fetal, placental, and uterine parameters during early pregnancy (through day 70) in mares with elevated leptin versus normal leptin (NL) concentrations. Fourteen mares were classified as either NL (n = 6; Lep 0.9 ± 0.3 ng/mL), moderate leptin (ML; n = 4; Lep 3.0 ± 0.3 ng/mL), or high leptin (HL; n = 4; Lep 5.8 ± 0.7 ng/mL) based on annual plasma leptin. Astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) are chronically exposed to a complex space radiation environment composed of galactic cosmic rays (GCR), solar particles, and Earth's trapped radiation. These high-energy particles interact with spacecraft shielding, producing secondary particles that can penetrate inside and deposit energy in sensitive tissues. Although animal studies have been useful in assessing space radiation risks, anatomical and physiological differences limit their applicability to human anatomy especially neuroanatomy.
