Thermal runaway is characterized by accelerating heat release inside a battery cell due to a series of uncontrollable exothermic reactions, manifesting as an uncontrolled increase in cell temperature. Top covers for battery packs in battery electric vehicles (BEV) have historically been produced from composite materials or, more commonly, formed steel sheets typically of thickness 0.6mm to 1.2mm, with an additional thermal barrier applied to aid in protecting passengers during a thermal runaway event. This disclosure describes equipping public infrastructure, such as traffic lights, pedestrian crosswalks, railroad crossings, and other roadside units (RSUs), with low-cost wireless beacons or local transmitters (e.g., Bluetooth, Ultra-Wideband, RFID, etc.). This disclosure describes techniques to reduce scan wire length and test cost when performing a scan stitch for complex circuit designs. Per techniques of this disclosure, design compressor-decompressors (Codecs) are utilized for inter-scan and intra-scan partitions to tackle the problem of inter-scan path distance. In a first method, additional embedded deterministic tests (EDTs) and Codecs are inserted into the design and logical scan partitioning is performed to reduce overall scan wire length. Integrated clock gating cells (ICG) on a system-on-a-chip (SoC) can be used to conserve energy by selectively disabling the clock signal to inactive parts of the SoC, minimizing unnecessary switching activity. Clock gating can be controlled by an enable (ICG-E) pin. If the ICG-E pin has high combinational depth, controlling the ICG can become challenging. This disclosure describes test-point insertion (TPI) techniques on the ICG-E pin of a SoC that improve controllability while reducing power consumption without substantially increasing the test-pattern count. Read-only memories (ROM) incorporate a scan chain to assist in detecting manufacturing defects. This scan chain can share a single flip-flop across multiple ROM outputs. However, sharing of scan flip-flops across ROM outputs can create a controllability issue for the ROM fan-out logic. Testing ROM fan-out becomes challenging, as a single control element drives four outputs, each with potentially different requirements for fault excitation and detection. Methods: We conducted a comprehensive cross-sectional survey involving 309 healthcare professionals, including hospitalist physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs), and internal medicine residents, to evaluate Epic Secure Chat's usage patterns, satisfaction levels, and communication preferences.

This case report details a 69-year-old male who presented with a right-sided pleural effusion and a mediastinal mass that was ultimately identified as recurrent mantle-cell lymphoma, occurring over 20 years after his initial diagnosis. Imaging findings discussed include chest radiograph and chest, abdomen and pelvis computed tomography depicting the mass compressing on various neighboring structures.

E. coli is a rare cause of infective endocarditis. This report describes an 81-year-old-woman with a history of aortic stenosis and recurrent urinary tract infections who presented in sepsis secondary to E. coli urinary tract infection which was complicated by multivalvular infective endocarditis of the aortic and tricuspid native valves identified on transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE). The patient was managed medically with ceftriaxone, and resolution of both vegetations was seen on TEE without the need for cardiothoracic surgery. Literature review did not yield prior cases of multivalvular E. coli endocarditis.

Background: Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia is an underrecognized entity which increases the risk of mucosal as well as visceral bleeding. The thromboembolic risk of this condition is unknown.

Methods: We used the national inpatient sample database from 2016 to 2020 and performed a retrospective cohort study using multivariate logistic regression.

Results: In this retrospective cohort study of the national inpatient sample database from 2016 to 2020 using multivariate logistic regression, we found that hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia did not significantly increase the risk of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.

We present a case of extensive mesenteric and portal vein thrombosis in a 59-year-old male with a history of multiple thrombotic events and hypercoagulable conditions. The patient presented with abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and black stools, leading to the discovery of thrombosis in the portal vein, splenic vein, and superior mesenteric vein (SMV) with associated bowel ischemia. The goal of treatment was to prevent mesenteric ischemia, maintain portal vein patency, and preserve options for potential liver transplantation. Surgical site infections (SSI) can affect up to 26.8% of patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). In New York State (NYS), hospitals are evaluated by comparing their risk-adjusted CABG SSI rates to the NYS average rate. In 2021, our facility’s rate was significantly higher than the NYS average at 3.40 and 1.51, respectively. This case report discusses the radiologic evaluation, histopathology, and management of a 67-year-old female with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) extending as a tumor thrombus into the right atrium. The patient had newly developed hematuria that was not followed up with the recommended imaging modality. Months later, the patient presented to the emergency department with progressive hematuria in addition to symptoms of dyspnea and significant weight loss. The concept of and desire for well-being economies are rising in prevalence as traditional business paradigms are questioned and alternative framings are being sought. Indigenous peoples, their economies, and their approach to business can provide a rich source of learning to enable and help facilitate a transition to economies of well-being. Drizzle initiation through the collision and coalescence of cloud droplets plays a crucial role in warm cloud precipitation. Recent theoretical studies suggest that the influence of collisional growth on the droplet size distribution can be quantified by a non-dimensional drizzle number (Dz). Here, large-eddy simulations with Lagrangian microphysics are employed to evaluate the theory by simulating a tall convection-cloud chamber under various conditions. Results show that the smaller the Dz, the larger the impact of collisions on the right tail of the droplet size distribution, consistent with the theory. However, mixed results regarding the return on investment in R&D, as measured by national-level indicators, often leave policymakers uncertain about the long-term benefits of such investments. Ideally, R&D investments should yield returns by influencing key economic indicators. This study explores the multilevel effects of R&D investment on national economic performance, focusing on its secondary impacts on stock market valuation, industry value added, and patent activity, with attention to country characteristics such as technological advancement. Under the recently expanded Second Chance Pell Initiative, an increasing number of individuals under carceral control in the United States can enroll in higher education programs with Pell grant funding. In 2022, Lewis University, a mid-sized teaching institution in suburban Chicago, became the second ‘Second Chance Pell Experimental Site' in Illinois and began offering undergraduate degrees to people incarcerated in the Illinois Department of Corrections system. Lewis’ program is especially innovative in that faculty members partner with incarcerated teaching fellows, all of whom earned Master of Arts degrees while incarcerated.
