Annual And Seasonal Mean Air Temperature Trends And Future Projections Over The Nile Delta, Egypt, Amna S. Dabbous, Dina M. Hendy, Yasser M. El-Wakeel, Tarek M. El-Geziry

Blue Economy

The Mediterranean air temperature has steadily increased during the last few decades. This shift affects ecological ecosystems and human activity. This study examined longterm air temperature trends in Alexandria and Port Said, using monthly data from 1957 to 2022 to assess the impact of climate change on these coastal cities, being the two extremities of the Nile Delta. Temperature records were analyzed using the Mann- Kendall test, a robust non-parametric statistical method for detecting trends in climatic data, and future projections were evaluated through the CMIP5 climate models under various RCP scenarios. Considerable warming trends were seen in the air …

Effectiveness Of Kipas Counseling In Reducing Students' Academic Procrastination, Dimas Ardika Miftah Farid, Mochamad Nursalim, Evi Winingsih

Buletin Konseling Inovatif

Academic procrastination is a common issue that hinders students' academic success and psychological well-being. In junior high school, where self-control is still developing, students are particularly vulnerable to distractions and delay in completing academic tasks. To address this issue, counseling approaches grounded in cultural values may offer effective solutions. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of KIPAS (Intensive Progressive Adaptive Structure Counseling) in reducing academic procrastination in junior high school students. A quasi-experimental design with pretest and posttest measurements was employed, involving seven students who exhibited high levels of academic procrastination. The measurement scale used assessed the amanah dimension, …

Khallat Abu Ḥalaḥ: The Shells / ח'לת אבו חלאח: ממצא הקונכיות, Inbar Ktalav

Qadum: Journal of Excavation Reports from Israel

The excavations at Khallat Abu Halah uncovered 24 shells, including 14 marine shells from the Mediterranean Sea, two freshwater bivalves—one local and the other originating from the Nile—and eight terrestrial snails. Most of the shells were dated to the Byzantine period but were not found in situ, making it difficult to interpret their use. The Mediterranean shells indicate a connection to the Mediterranean coast, whereas the freshwater bivalve from the Nile suggests connections with Egypt, likely via Caesarea. The terrestrial species are similar to those found in the region today, indicating that the environmental conditions in the area during the …

Khallat Abu ḤAlaḥ: The Ceramic Assemblage, Neer Lect Ben Ami

Qadum: Journal of Excavation Reports from Israel

This report details the ceramic assemblage recovered from excavations at Khallat Abu Ḥalaḥ. The pottery spans from the first to the tenth centuries CE, with the majority dating to the Late Roman and Byzantine periods. The assemblage includes various vessel types, mostly from unstratified contexts. The pottery indicates strong commercial ties with other Southern Levantine coastal and inland sites. The variety of finds suggests the site was a domestic structure, possibly a farmstead, within the economic sphere of Byzantine Caesarea.

The excavation at Khallat Abu Ḥalaḥ uncovered part of a Byzantine-period structure comprising several rectangular rooms, corresponding to five construction phases. One of these rooms may have functioned as a bathhouse. Remains of another nearby structure decorated with a cross were also revealed, along with the upper fragment of a small chalkstone altar incised with a cross; a road paved with small stones and flanked by two walls that led to the site and continued toward Naḥal Dalia; and several field walls, one of which may have served as an enclosure. The finds from the site—including a fragment of a …

Possible Cross-Resistance And Horizontal Gene Transfer Associated With Halquinol In Escherichia Coli And Salmonella Enterica Isolated From Pigs, Nisit Chansong, Songsak Srisanga, Nutthavut Mahawatthanaunkul, Rungtip Chuanchuen

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

The aims of this study were to determine the possible cross-resistance and horizontal gene transfer associated with halquinol in Escherichia coli and Salmonella spp. from pigs. Two of each E. coli and Salmonella isolates exhibiting low halquinol MIC (8 and 16 µg/ml, respectively) and susceptible to antibiotics tested were selected for in vitro stepwisehalquinol exposure experiment. Another E. coli (n=19) and Salmonella (n=6) isolates with high halquinol MICs (16-64 and 32-64 µg/ml, respectively) containing plasmids were used for transferability testing of halquinol resistanceencoding gene(s) using filter mating method. In vitro exposure to subinhibitory concentrations of halquinol promoted neither resistance to …

Too Hot To Handle: Assessing Practitioner Climate Service Needs To Advance Heat Resilience, K. M. Archie, D. Hirschfeld, S. Meerow, J. C. Arnott, L. Keith, J. A. Vano, E. Mateo

Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning Faculty Publications

Extreme heat is deadly and it is disproportionately experienced by lower-income, minority, and marginalized community members. Heat practitioners are faced with the dual challenges of taking action to mitigate the level of heat experienced by local residents while preparing communities to manage unavoidable levels of elevated warming. In response to a lack of in-depth information about heat practitioner needs, this work aims to advance our understanding of how efforts to improve climate services may contribute to more effective extreme heat planning and decision-making in the United States. Through a two-round, mixed-methods approach that employed group interviews and a survey, we …

Towards Scalable Schema Mapping Using Large Language Models, Christopher Buss, Mahdis Safari, Arash Termehchy, David Maier, Stefan Lee Aug 2025

Towards Scalable Schema Mapping Using Large Language Models, Christopher Buss, Mahdis Safari, Arash Termehchy, David Maier, Stefan Lee

Computer Science Faculty Publications and Presentations

The growing need to integrate information from many diverse sources poses significant scalability challenges for data integration systems. These systems often rely on manually written schema mappings, which are complex and costly to maintain. While recent advances suggest that large language models (LLMs) can assist in automating schema mapping, key challenges remain. We motivate future research in schema mapping generation by highlighting key challenges, presenting a competitive bidirectional schema matching pipeline, and exploring the limitations of current methods for generating more complex mappings.
