Food waste is a global issue with significant environmental, economic, and human health impacts. The largest share of household and retail food waste comes from fresh produce, much of which is still edible at the time of disposal. While previous work has investigated shelf-life extension technologies applied on freshly harvested produce, almost no studies have investigated the efficacy of these treatments when applied to post-retail produce. This study investigated the effect of UV-C exposure and chitosan coating on the quality, microbial load, and visual acceptance of post-retail strawberries. This dataset supports a Q-methodology study of climate change viewpoints among undergraduate students at Brigham Young University. Participants were recruited from an introductory non-majors biology course during Fall 2025. The study examined how students organized climate-change views across scientific evidence, human causation, uncertainty, political beliefs, religious stewardship, moral responsibility, perceived agency, climate policy, and future risks.

The purpose of this qualitative study was to gain insight and understanding of elementary school teachers’ perspectives of teacher empowerment in relation to six key principles: self-efficacy, professional development, collaboration, communication, shared vision, and support. The teacher perspective remains underrepresented in empowerment research; this study was designed to center the voices of those most directly experiencing empowerment in their daily work. Two research questions guided the study: How do elementary school teachers perceive teacher empowerment in relation to six key teacher empowerment principles and what principle(s) do teachers identify as most influential in fostering their sense of empowerment?

This thesis examines Sanja Matsuri, a major Shintō and Buddhist festival in Asakusa, Tokyo, through the lenses of lived religion, participant observation, autoethnography, and anthropology. Departing from institution-centered approaches, it foregrounds the experiential dimensions of festival participation, showing how physical devotion, collective movement, and festive intensity function as expressions of spiritual meaning. Ethnographic fieldwork conducted in 2023 and 2025 included participant observation, informal interviews with local and foreign participants, and Reflexive Discourse Analysis of fieldnotes and bilingual transcripts. Objective: The aim of this study main is to analyze the influence of antihypertensive treatments on the failure and survival rates of dental implants.

Methods: Medical records of 586 patients who received a total of 1,814 dental implants between 2012 and 2022 met the inclusion criteria and were retrospectively reviewed. Patients were divided into two groups: a control group comprising 512 systemically healthy patients with 1581 implants, and a group of 74 patients taking only antihypertensive medications who received a total of 233 implants. Implant failure was assessed according to criteria defined by the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Introduction: This study evaluated the influence of lithium disilicate restoration thickness on the degree of conversion (DC) of a self-adhesive dual-cured resin cement (Bifix SE®; VOCO GmbH, Cuxhaven, Germany) and a preheated composite resin (VisCalor Bulk®; VOCO GmbH, Cuxhaven, Germany).

Methods: Sixty IPS e.max CAD (LTB1) specimens (2 mm, 4 mm, 6 mm; n D 10 per group) were fabricated and divided into six groups. Introduction: Orthokeratinized odontogenic cyst (OOC) is a rare developmental jaw lesion with indolent behavior and low recurrence potential.

Case presentation: A 33-year-old healthy male was referred after incidental discovery of a mandibular radiolucency. Cone-beam CT revealed a well-defined unilocular lesion in close relation to the inferior alveolar canal. Aspiration confirmed its cystic nature, and a conservative decompression was performed using a rubber drain to reduce lesion size and preserve adjacent structures. Histopathologic examination identified orthokeratinized epithelium consistent with OOC. After seven months of decompression, the lesion showed marked ossification, allowing safe enucleation and peripheral curettage. Radiographic follow-ups at 19 months …

In this project, I addressed a persistent practice problem among agency nurses working in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in Southern California, who often enter the facility with varying familiarity with its policies and procedures. I designed this staff education, evidence-based practice (EBP), quality-improvement initiative to strengthen nursing knowledge and competency among agency nurses at the facility. The practice question was designed to assess on whether their knowledge and self-perceived competency improved after participating in the education program. The American Indian Chicago Conference (AICC) illuminates understudied elements within twentieth century Indigenous history. Post WWII policies of termination came to frame the conference, and archival evidence from the planning and establishment of regional conferences and founding documents allows for analysis of the deeper meaning the conference held. The planning phases, schedule, events, and outcomes of the conference indicate factors of a national Indigenous community and identity that have yet to be fully explored in the historiography of this period. The implications of termination policies on Indigenous peoples in North America act as a starting point for the conference’s development. …

Sociopolitical stress associated with the policies and rhetoric coming from recent U.S. presidential administrations is of particular concern vis-à-vis Hispanic individuals, who have been disproportionately targeted for detention and deportation. Such stress may be associated with symptoms of depression and anxiety, and ultimately with tobacco use. However, there is a paucity of research examining how sociopolitical stress is associated with mental health problems and substance use among Hispanic emerging adults. We detail the population properties of binary neutron star, neutron star-black hole binary, and binary black hole mergers using 158 events from the cumulative Gravitational-Wave Transient Catalog 4.0. The black hole primary mass distribution consists of a power-law-like continuum that steepens above 35 M-circle dot with overdensities at 10 M-circle dot and 35 M-circle dot. Binary black holes with primary masses near 10 M-circle dot are more likely to have less massive secondaries, with a mass ratio distribution peaking at q = 0.71(-0.11)(+0.12), potentially a signature of stable mass transfer during binary evolution. Background and aims: This pilot randomized controlled-feeding trial compared the effect of Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) and Mediterranean diet (MeD) in mild to moderate ulcerative colitis (UC).

Methods: Seventeen adults were randomized to a 6-week SCD (n = 8) or MeD (n = 9) intervention. Primary outcome was change in partial Mayo Clinic score (pMCS).

Results: The study was discontinued early due to significant dropout (n = 9, 52.9%). There was no significant between-group differences observed for pMCS change (SCD, -0.8; MeD, -1.3; p = 0.499) or secondary outcomes. Alkalization treatment is an effective way to remove lignin and hemicellulose attached to cellulose. Why do domestic stock markets in many emerging market economies fail to develop, even in the presence of high savings rates? In this paper, we argue that this may be a ‘chicken-and-egg’ problem, which we formalise as a market coordination failure. We first develop a stylised game-theoretical model, showing that when long-term equity investment is subject to network externalities, the Pareto-optimal, high-investment equilibrium is not robust to noise. Individual investors, fearing defection by others, will rationally choose a low-investment (or ‘run’) strategy, trapping the market in a state of underdevelopment.
