Journal of Innovation and Teacher Professionalism
This study aimed to analyze the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in a fifth-grade elementary classroom using a qualitative approach. The participants were 25 fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Gadingkasri, Malang. The study was conducted over Cycles I–III during the first teaching practicum of the Pre-Service Professional Teacher Education Program at Universitas Negeri Malang from January to February 2024. Observation and interview sheets were used to capture students’ collaboration skills. Direct observation and field documentation were used to understand collaborative behavior during PjBL, while interviews provided insight into students’ learning experiences. This classroom action research aimed to improve learning engagement and understanding in mathematics among students of Class VIII-F at SMPN 18 Malang through a collaborative approach supported by the Quizizz application. Students worked in small groups to complete mathematics quizzes and assignments. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and tests using observation sheets, interview guides, and test items. Descriptive quantitative analysis was used to examine increases in student engagement. The pre-cycle results showed an average engagement level of 41.54%. This increased to 61.92% in Cycle …

The COVID-19 pandemic drastically changed the way learning was conducted and strongly affected the quality of education students received. These changes influenced not only motivation and learning outcomes but also essential twenty-first-century competencies, particularly collaboration. In response, role-playing emerged as a promising alternative for improving learning quality. This study aimed to examine the effects of role-playing on learning motivation, cognitive learning outcomes, and collaboration skills in the topic of human digestion during the pandemic. Basic Programming is a foundational subject in vocational high schools within the Computer and Informatics Engineering program and is intended to develop students’ fundamental computer programming abilities. This study aimed to develop a Project-Based Learning and Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI)-based e-module as an instructional medium for Basic Programming to support effective learning. The e-module was developed using the 4D model: define, design, develop, and disseminate. It was tested with tenth-grade Software Engineering students at SMKN 6 Malang to examine improvement in learning independence. Classroom action research was conducted with first-grade students at SD Negeri 4 Madyopuro, Malang, in the 2023/2024 academic year in response to their low learning interest. The study applied Problem-Based Learning (PBL) together with the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach as a potential solution. Its purpose was to increase students’ interest in learning Pancasila Education. The participants were 28 students, comprising 15 girls and 13 boys. Membangun Minat Belajar Ipa Siswa Smp Melalui Strategi Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe Jigsaw, Septian Wahyu Prasetyo, Yusuf Hanafi, Ferdi Dwi Sagitha
Journal of Innovation and Teacher Professionalism
This study aimed to determine students’ level of interest in science during the second semester at SMP Negeri 5 Malang in the 2023/2024 academic year. A mixed quantitative and qualitative approach was used, with questionnaires and checklists as data collection instruments. Before implementation of the Jigsaw cooperative learning model, only four students (12.9%) demonstrated interest in science, while 24 students (77.4%) showed low interest and three students (9.6%) showed no interest. After Jigsaw was implemented, students’ interest increased significantly, as indicated by a t-test significance value below 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). The findings indicate that Jigsaw is effective in increasing students’ interest in science. It may therefore serve as an alternative for addressing low learning interest while improving the quality of classroom instruction. The Jigsaw model can create a more interactive and collaborative classroom atmosphere, positively influence student engagement, and strengthen both learning outcomes and overall educational quality.

Twenty-first-century learning seeks to develop students who can communicate effectively, think creatively, and compete in the digital era, thereby becoming skilled and adaptable individuals. This study aimed to identify the positive effects experienced by students during the implementation of differentiated instruction using the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach, particularly through Project-Based Learning (PjBL). The study employed a qualitative descriptive method and involved students of Class VII-A at SMP Negeri 2 Pakis in the 2023/2024 academic year. This article aimed to identify the implementation of the teacher code of ethics in elementary school instruction and explore its effects on the quality of learning interactions and discipline between teachers and students. It used a descriptive qualitative methodology based on an in-depth literature review. The teacher code of ethics was defined as a set of professional rules that educators must follow to protect professional integrity, ensure teachers’ welfare, and strengthen commitment to educational development. Discovery Learning is a problem-based instructional method that provides students with opportunities to actively explore and learn new concepts, including operator types in programming. In digital learning, Instagram offers interactive features that have potential for use in this method. This study aimed to develop presentation materials integrating the Discovery Learning model for programming operators with assessment delivered through Instagram filters. A research and development method using the ADDIE model—analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation—was employed. The rising prevalence of mental disorders among youth, including depression, anxiety, stress, and binge eating disorder (BED), has become a major concern in the context of global mental health. BED, as a form of eating disorder, often occurs with psychological conditions such as anxiety and depression, complicating diagnosis and treatment. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and association between depression, anxiety, stress, and BED among youth in Greater Jakarta. Parotitis is a disease caused by mumps virus infection. The infection attacks the parotid glands, causing symptoms such as fever, swelling on the side of the face accompanied by pain. Data from the Samarinda City Health Office shows that there were 380 cases of mumps from September to early October 2024. The increase in cases also occurred among elementary school children, but there is no definitive data yet that illustrates the number and distribution of parotitis cases.
