Objectives: The leading cause of epilepsy mortality is Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP). National and international guidelines recommend that people with epilepsy are counseled on SUDEP risk at the point of diagnosis or at the earliest opportunity. This study compares neurologist views from five European countries on attitudes and relevance of SUDEP communication. Methods: A cross-sectional online survey of 17 Likert questions using validated themes was circulated via different ILAE and/or equivalent organizations using a non-discriminatory exponential snowballing technique, leading to a non-probability sampling. This commentary highlights dental shame as a pervasive but underexplored phenomenon with significant implications for oral health and systemic inequities. It proposes dental shame as a critical lens for understanding and addressing the complex interplay between personal, social, economic, cultural and systemic factors contributing to oral health challenges. Drawing on interdisciplinary expertise, the authors collectively propose that dental shame is both a consequence and determinant of oral health issues, leading to a self-reinforcing dynamic of avoidance, withdrawal and exacerbated inequities. This article evaluates the Environmental Protection and Management Law (UUPPLH) as amended by the Omnibus Law on Job Creation (UUPPLH-Ciptaker) and its implementing regulations. The evaluation uses the normative framework of the principle of non-regression to assess whether the provisions of the UUPPLH-Ciptaker and its implementing regulations represent a setback compared to the legal conditions prior to the enactment of the Omnibus Law. Pain syndromes include physical, sensory, emotional, and cognitive symptoms such as disability, negative affect, feelings of stress, and fatigue. Experimental induction of long-term inflammatory pain in rodents by hindpaw injection of complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA) produces anhedonia and dysregulated naturalistic behaviors, similar to the effects of unregulated stress. We examined whether these similarities extend to changes in sleep and rhythms, such as those induced by chronic social defeat stress, using actigraphy and wireless EEG in mice. OBJECTIVE: Evaluate the association between telemedicine intensity and ambulatory physician electronic health record (EHR) use following the COVID-19 pandemic.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: This retrospective study included ambulatory physicians in 11 specialties at 2 large academic medical centers (Washington University in St Louis [WashU], University of California San Francisco [UCSF]). EHR use measures, including time-based and frequency-based, were analyzed in the post-COVID-19 period (March 1, 2021, through March 7, 2022). Multivariable regression models with 2-way fixed effects were used to assess the association between telemedicine intensity and EHR use.

Fatty acid β-oxidation is a central catabolic pathway with broad health implications. However, various fatty acids, including 4-hydroxy acids (4-HAs), are largely incompatible with β-oxidation machinery before being modified. Here we reveal that two atypical acyl-CoA dehydrogenases, ACAD10 and ACAD11, drive 4-HA catabolism in mice. Unlike other ACADs, ACAD10 and ACAD11 feature kinase domains that phosphorylate the 4-hydroxy position as a requisite step in converting 4-hydroxyacyl-CoAs into conventional 2-enoyl-CoAs. Through cryo-electron microscopy and molecular modeling, we identified an atypical dehydrogenase binding pocket capable of accommodating this phosphorylated intermediate. OBJECTIVES: Machine learning (ML) is an emerging discipline centered around complex pattern matching and large data-based prediction modeling and can improve precision medicine healthcare. Cochlear implants (CI) are highly effective, however, outcomes vary widely, and accurately predicting speech perception performance outcomes between patients remains a challenge. This study aims to evaluate the ability of ML to predict speech perception performance among CI recipients at 6-month post-implantation using only preoperative variables on one of the largest CI datasets to date, with an emphasis placed on identification of poor performers.

INTRODUCTION: Potential delays in patient care during weekends have not been studied in liver transplantation (LT) for acute liver failure (ALF). We evaluated the impact of listing after a weekend on waitlist (WL) and post-LT outcomes in ALF patients.

METHODS: In a retrospective cohort study of adult ALF patients from February 2002 to May 2023 in the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) database, the primary exposure was listing after a weekend. Multinomial regression and Cox models assessed WL outcomes and post-LT mortality, respectively, adjusting for potential confounders. Inverse probability censoring weighting addressed censoring bias.

This study investigates the impact of internship experiences on workforce readiness, focusing on gender-based differences in perceived achievements and areas for improvement. Grounded in Experiential Learning Theory (ELT) and Work-Integrated Learning (WIL), the research examines how internships contribute to students’ career preparation. A quantitative descriptive research design was employed to assess students' purchasing intentions toward street food in front of De La Salle University - Dasmariñas Gate 1. Background: Thirty-day hospital readmissions compromise patient safety, increase mortality risk, and impose financial penalties on hospitals. Ineffective discharge education and care transitions leave patients vulnerable after discharge. Evidence shows that post-discharge follow-up calls within 24–72 hours can identify risks early and reduce preventable readmissions.

After heavy snowfall in the Uinta Basin, Utah, elevated surface ozone occurs if a cold-air pool persists and traps emissions from oil and gas industry operations. Sunlight and actinic flux from a high-albedo snowpack drive ozone buildup via photolysis. Snow coverage is paramount in initiating the cold pool and driving ozone generation. Its depth is critical for predicting ozone concentrations. The Basin’s location leeward of the Wasatch Mountains provides conditions for a precipitation shadow, where sinking air suppresses snowfall.
