On June 26 Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced a deal with the G7 to accept the global intangible low-taxed income tax as a valid income inclusion rule tax and not apply the undertaxed profits rule to U.S. multinational enterprises. This Article builds on an important development in the Supreme Court’s standing jurisprudence to propose a novel theory that would allow more meaningful access to federal courts while vindicating legitimate separation-of-powers concerns. In its recent decision in TransUnion LLC v. Ramirez, the Supreme Court endorsed a theory of standing based on Article II, writing that litigation between private parties—even when explicitly authorized by Congress—can run afoul of the executive branch’s interest in “how to prioritize and how aggressively to pursue legal actions against defendants who violate the law.” This Article II move has been justifiably criticized. Researchers employ various empirical methods to provide insights into contractual legal issues. For instance, systematic content analysis has been used to examine the terms of contracts or court judgments in contractual disputes. This approach, though different from doctrinal methods, enhances our understanding of legal content. Surveys and experimental methods, on the other hand, provide evidence on people's perceptions of contract terms or contractual behavior such as consent, misrepresentation, or breach. The findings from these studies inform contract law theories, which are based on assumptions about behavior in contractual relationships. Empirical studies also strengthen arguments in normative research by providing evidence …

It is common in machine learning to estimate a response y given covariate information x . However, these predictions alone do not quantify any uncertainty associated with said predictions. One way to overcome this deficiency is with conformal inference methods, which construct a set containing the unobserved response with a prescribed probability. Unfortunately, even with a one-dimensional response, conformal inference is computationally expensive despite recent encouraging advances. Glyphosate is one of the most widely applied agrochemicals in North America and can be directly transported via runoff into non-target aquatic habitats. Yet, our understanding of how this herbicide affects aquatic ecosystems is limited; past studies have often focused on single species effects and/or used herbicide concentrations several orders of magnitude higher than what has been reported in contaminated aquatic systems. Introduction

From structural, anatomical, and functional perspectives, components of the thoracoabdominal region are heterogeneous and physiologically and functionally different. Although their tolerances to injury are expected to be different, the current Roma Plastilina No. 1 clay penetration criterion for behind armor blunt trauma (BABT) is not specific to the body region. It is important to develop regional injury criteria to ensure its specificity. The objective of the study is to conduct impact tests on the lung region using a live animal model and develop injury risk curves using velocity and deflection metrics via parametric survival analysis.

The microdiscectomy procedure has been regarded as the preferred method for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH). Intraoperatively, the procedure may be further complicated due to underlying anatomical variations in the lumbar spine or nerve root variations. Nerve root anomalies (NRAs), in particular, are relatively underdiscussed within the literature. Despite the rarity of these variations to the exiting nerve root, the increased surgical risk that an NRA may add warrants the need for increased awareness and associated complication mitigation. Fractures are an important comorbidity in Parkinson's disease (PD), which can result in disability, mortality, and high healthcare costs. Impaired mobility, postural instability, bradykinesia, muscle rigidity, and decreased bone mineral density (BMD) contribute to the increased risk of falls, which often result in hip and upper extremity fractures. Hip fractures in patients with PD are associated with an increased hospital length of stay and a decline in functional independence. Multimodal fall prevention in PD is well established, but prevention of fractures is often underutilized, despite evidence-based interventions. Vocal cord paralysis (VCP) presents with unique challenges when managing airways, particularly during endotracheal intubation. This literature review explores the effects of unilateral and bilateral VCP on intubation technique, first-pass success, extubation safety, and perioperative airway planning. While video laryngoscopy (VL) is becoming increasingly favored for its superior airway visualization, it does not always confirm successful placement in patients with VCP. Complications such as airway edema, aspiration risk, and cuff misplacements are increased in this patient population, and they may be more vulnerable to post-extubation complications, especially without the use of steroid prophylaxis or intensive post-operative planning. The ENCLOTHE Open Educational Resource (OER) textbook was developed and implemented for a Fashion Show Theory and Production course at a Mid-Southern University in the United States. This case study examines the effectiveness of this specialized OER in addressing the unique needs of an upper-division capstone fashion course. The textbook, designed to replace a costly industry-focused resource, offers interactive modules, video clips, and assignments compatible with learning management systems. Using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the study evaluated students' perceptions of the textbook's usefulness and ease of use across time points during the semester. BACKGROUND: In recent years, there has been an emergence of new antigens discovered in membranous nephropathy (MN). Whether these antigens have impacted the approach to, and management of, MN patients undertaken by nephrologists is still unclear.

METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional international survey pertaining to 13 antigens recently discovered in MN. The survey was distributed by the National Kidney Foundation, direct emails, and social media.

RESULT: PLA2R, THSD7A, NELL1, and EXT1/2 testing were readily available while the most common response for other antigen testing was 'Not Performed' or 'Unknown'. All respondents had tested for or treated PLA2R-positive MN. Of 79 …

The content in introductory science courses has often been criticized as “miles wide and inches deep”. In general chemistry, several revisions have focused on framing around a set of core or anchoring concepts, and we recently adapted the anchoring concepts content map (ACCM) of the American Chemical Society (ACS) to develop an anchoring concept-based curriculum for our general chemistry courses. In this article, we describe efforts to connect this curriculum with laboratory learning using Gowin’s theory of learning and the associated knowledge Vee heuristic. This past January, in conjunction with the issuance of a final regulation (T.D. 10022) that treats income from defined cloud transactions as income from services, Treasury and the IRS released a proposed regulation (REG-107420-24) on the sourcing of that income. In 2019 a Treasury official had asked the tax community for feedback on whether specific cloud transaction sourcing rules were needed, and the preamble to a 2019 proposed regulation asked for comments on “administrable rules for sourcing income from cloud transactions in a manner consistent with sections 861 through 865.” The feedback was “split almost evenly with regard to whether …

PURPOSE: The surgical management of adult traumatic brachial plexus injuries (BPI) is challenging, with no consensus on optimal strategies. This study aimed to gather preferred reconstructive strategies from BPI surgeons for actual cases from a multicenter cohort to identify areas of agreement.

METHODS: Four case files (history, physical examination, and imaging and electrodiagnostic testing results) were distributed to eight self-designated Level IV expert BPI surgeons in the United States. Each surgeon independently reviewed the cases and provided a preferred reconstructive plan via free text response.

Efficient lymph flow is ensured by lymphatic valves (LVs). The mechanisms that regulate LV development are incompletely understood. Here, we show that the deletion of the GPCR sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor-1 (S1PR1) from lymphatic endothelial cells (LECs) results in fewer LVs. Interestingly, LVs that remained in the terminal ileum-draining lymphatic vessels were specifically dysfunctional. Furthermore, tertiary lymphoid organs (TLOs) formed in the terminal ileum of the mutant mice. TLOs in this location are associated with ileitis in humans and mice. However, mice lacking S1PR1 did not develop obvious characteristics of ileitis. Mechanistically, S1PR1 regulates shear stress signaling and the expression of …

The dual rAAVrh8-HEXA and rAAVrh8-HEXB vector can restore central nervous system hexosaminidase (Hex) enzyme activity, decrease GM2 levels in cerebrospinal fluid and rescue phenotypic consequences of GM2 gangliosidosis, Tay-Sachs and Sandhoff diseases in animal models following simultaneous bi-thalamic (BiT) injections. Following up on an n = 2 expanded access trial, we initiated a phase 1/2, single-dose, dose-escalation of combined BiT, intra-cisterna magna and intrathecal infusion in children with Tay-Sachs and Sandhoff diseases (six infantile, three juvenile). STUDY QUESTION: What effect do toxins produced by bacterial vaginosis (BV) bacteria have on sperm function?

SUMMARY ANSWER: BV toxins dysregulate sperm capacitation and intracellular calcium homeostasis, and impair the ability of sperm to fertilize oocytes.

WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY: In BV, which is linked to infertility, overgrowth of Prevotella and Gardnerella in the vagina is accompanied by elevated concentrations of the toxins lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and vaginolysin (VLY).

BACKGROUND: Rezafungin is approved for use in adults with candidemia and/or invasive candidiasis (IC) based on data from the ReSTORE trial (NCT03667690), which demonstrated noninferior efficacy to caspofungin. For regulatory purposes, an additional cohort of patients from China was recruited to ReSTORE. Here, we compared rezafungin and caspofungin in patients with candidemia and/or IC through analysis of the ReSTORE global data plus the China extension study.

METHODS: Adults with candidemia/IC were randomized (1:1) to receive weekly rezafungin (400/200 mg) or daily caspofungin (70/50 mg) for ≤28 days. Noninferiority was concluded for primary efficacy endpoints if the upper bound of the …
