Finding Aids

The collection dates from 1938 to 2001 and consists of meeting minutes, administrative records, photographs, and newspaper clippings documenting the activities of the Herty Foundation, its laboratory, and pilot plant. Photographs include views of the early pilot plant, laboratory, and shipyard around 1938 and the opening of the new pilot plant in 1957. Newspaper clippings report on the Herty Foundation and its work between 1953 and 1980.

There are a relatively small number of investigations into brain aging in those with intellectual and developmental disability (I/DD). This project seeks to (1) characterize the internationally available multi-omics Alzheimer's disease (AD) biomarker studies including those with I/DD, and (2) discuss future research directions. PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus were searched under the following criteria: cross-sectional or longitudinal AD-omics studies on adults (18 +) with I/DD. 532 studies were identified, 186 studies were evaluated for full-text, 79 studies were excluded, and 117 studies were extracted. Most biological specimens were analyzed in blood, plasma, or serum. Metabolomics, hormonomics, and transcriptomics …

Background: Emerging evidence suggests that alcohol use disrupts large-scale brain network interactions, particularly within the triple network model-comprising the Salience Network (SN), Default Mode Network (DMN), and Frontoparietal Network (FPN). However, few studies have examined how these connectivity alterations vary across the full spectrum of alcohol consumption, especially using ultra-high-field imaging and data-driven approaches. This study leverages 7 Tesla resting-state fMRI and multivariate pattern analysis (MVPA) to characterize distinct brain connectivity patterns across heavy, moderate, and non-drinking adults, aiming to identify neural signatures that differentiate alcohol use severity levels.

Background The ESCAPE-MeVO (Endovascular Treatment to Improve Outcomes for Medium Vessel Occlusions) and DISTAL (Endovascular Therapy plus Best Medical Treatment vs Best Medical Treatment Alone for Medium Vessel Occlusion Stroke) trials failed to demonstrate the superiority of endovascular thrombectomy over best medical management for medium and small vessel occlusions. Potential limitations of these trials include older patient populations, lower presenting National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores, higher rates of premorbid disability, delayed revascularization times, inclusion of both medium and small vessel occlusions, and widespread use of stent retrievers. Research on how students of color are employed in on-campus student affairs positions and the development of their marketable skills for post-graduation employment is limited. To address this gap, this study examined the experiences of 12 students of color in student affairs roles. The goal was to understand how these students benefitted from their on-campus employment, developed valuable skills, and secured job opportunities after graduation.

The findings indicate that students of color were able to readily identify and communicate the marketable skills they acquired during their time as students. These skills include management, teamwork facilitation, digital literacy, and the ability …

This study explores how educators from under-resourced schools, who participated in an AI Summer Research Institute hosted by a Historically Black College and University (HBCU), perceive the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in their classrooms. Using both quantitative data from post-survey responses and qualitative reflections from virtual interviews, the study examines how teachers anticipate AI will influence their teaching strategies and student engagement, and what long-term benefits or concerns they associate with AI integration. The North Coast Demersal Scalefish Resource (NCDSR) comprises ecological suites of tropical demersal fish species that occur predominantly in inshore waters (20–250 m deep) and offshore waters ( > 250 m deep) of the North Coast Bioregion (NCB). More than 60 demersal species are landed by fisheries operating in the Kimberley and Pilbara regions of the NCB each year, including high-value snappers (Lutjanidae), groupers (Epinephelidae), and emperors (Lethrinidae). Over the last century, dams and diversions on the Colorado River have devastated the Colorado River Delta and the Sea of Cortez-a crisis exacerbated by climate change. While Minutes 319 and 323 of the 1944 Treaty between the United States and Mexico have achieved some success, they have failed to adequately protect or restore the ecosystem in the face of our changing climate. The research is clear: the Delta continues to be in serious trouble. As Minute 323's expiration rapidly approaches, negotiations regarding its successor are ongoing. Conditional water rights within Colorado can create uncertainty for other water users within the prior appropriation system. These issues stem from recent treatment of conditional rights as akin to a vested property right, rather than a placeholder pursuant to which an applicant hopes to be awarded a vested right. Conditional water rights provide a degree of water security for a specifically identified future use by authorizing an applicant to reserve a place in line within Colorado's priority system for a water right to apply to such use. Scholarship on Romans 3.21–26 typically isolates the death of Jesus on the cross as the moment when Paul says the righteousness of God was disclosed, leading to the justification of all who believe the gospel. In this paper I argue that, although the death of Christ relates in important ways to Paul’s claims in the paragraph, this reading does not fully account for his metaphorical description of Christ as a ‘mercy seat’ (ἱλαστήριον), nor his assertion that those who believe are ‘justified through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus’. The purpose of this study was to evaluate if food environments in proximity to Black pregnant women in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area were associated with prenatal eating habits and if these eating habits were associated with the risk of developing depressive symptoms in pregnancy and postpartum. The study also aimed to understand if there was a relationship between prenatal eating habits and the decision to breastfeed and if the onset of postpartum depressive symptoms has any effect on this relationship. The nutrition status of an organism depends on the balance between nutrient intake and utilization. Malnutrition results not only from inadequate caloric intake but also from imbalanced macronutrient ratios, which can affect aging, metabolism, and health. While many studies focus on individual nutrients, this study used purified, isocaloric diets with varying macronutrient ratios to assess dietary effects on nutrition markers in Swiss albino mice.

This article provides an overview of a pilot conducted around the implementation of CLOVER by 4-H to provide positive youth-development experiences in 4-H programming. As a result of the pilot, three distinct models for hybrid program delivery and a set of seven best practices for hybrid positive youth development have been identified. Integrating drone and geospatial technologies with participatory techniques offers a promising approach to culturally responsive STEM education. However, these areas are rarely combined in existing literature. Drone and geospatial education for youth generally focuses on technical skills, while participatory methods in youth-led initiatives often aim to foster community connection and a sense of place. Background Thevetia peruviana, commonly known as Yellow Oleander or Cabbage Tree, is a tropical shrub. Extracts from various parts of the plant (e.g., leaves, seeds) have demonstrated pesticidal properties, including the ability to repel or kill intermediate hosts of Schistosomiasis. Methods This study employed gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) analysis to identify 33 compo nents in the ethanol extract, with key compounds exhibiting antioxidant, anti‑inflammatory, anticancer, and anti microbial properties. However, they do not state the exact manner in which those tasks can be achieved. This paper examines the use of advanced numerical techniques to approximate solutions of the Fisher equation with higher-order accuracy. This technique integrates the method of lines with a strong stability-preserving Runge–Kutta scheme of orders four and five stages (SSPRK-54) for the numerical formulation. This scheme is then tested on two examples and the results show that it is more efficient than existing methods and requires less computing power. These equations are widely used across scientific and engineering disciplines, with particular relevance in biomedical studies, such as estimating the boundary size of tumors.
