In a nonpayment proceeding, the court granted the tenant's motion to dismiss the petition without prejudice, finding it failed to state a cause of action under RPAPL § 711(2). The landlord's rent demand was deemed fatally defective as its alleged monthly rent amounts conflicted with the agreed-upon sums in the parties' written leases. The court dismissed the petition after the landlord repeatedly refused to negotiate a reasonable settlement.

Because of the emphasis of sports in today’s society, athletes experience near-constant pressure from the public, coaches, and fans. This can make it difficult to control feelings of stress, anxiety, and even depression. Positive psychology interventions have been shown to be useful in teaching athletes to cope with difficult emotions and to handle the stress that accompanied advanced competition (Gabana, 2018). The benefits of positive affect have been shown to enhance motivation and attention, facilitate coping with hardship, and increase problem-solving skills (McCarthy, 2011). Power, Positionality, And Questioning Corporal Punishment: Caste Dynamics And The Ethics Of Anthropological Research In Indian Schools, Jessica Chandras

This reflection critically examines corporal punishment in Indian schools, highlighting how pedagogical violence perpetuates caste and socioeconomic class inequalities. Drawing from my fieldwork experiences, I explore how my insider/outsider positionality helped me to understand systemic oppression and frameworks of modernity within the neoliberal education system I was studying. Additionally, I interrogate the limitations of cultural relativity by emphasizing a need for anthropologists to confront ethical dilemmas entrenched within the power dynamics in our field sites.

Vaping has become a pressing health concern among students, providing easy access to nicotine and other harmful chemicals. In schools, this issue threatened student well-being, discipline, and policy enforcement, underscoring the need for effective prevention. BackgroundPlay is pivotal in human development, and as such the human experience. In young people, play is increasingly taking the form of video gaming—capturing a large share of the entertainment sector and potentially exposing young people to new instances of harmful behaviour. Loot boxes (purchasable items where the contents are chance based, which have structural and psychological similarities to gambling) generate significant income for the sector. Introduction Difficulty with walking can lead to reduced quality of life for people with Parkinson’s disease (pwPD); improving walking is considered a treatment priority. Drug therapies can control PD symptoms; however, pwPD often still experience mobility problems. Functional electrical stimulation (FES) induces movement in weak muscles via external electrical stimulation. FES is used in stroke and multiple sclerosis patients to correct dropped foot by stimulating the common peroneal nerve and is associated with improved quality of life and mobility. The randomised feasibility study preceding this definitive study showed that daily FES can produce a clinically meaningful improvement in walking speed …

Globally, the rates of chronic kidney disease (CKD) are increasing due to the increasing incidence of hypertension, obesity, and diabetes mellitus. Early detection and treatment of kidney disease are essential in improving health outcomes. Estimate glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is used to diagnose, stage, and manage CKD. CKD biomarkers are broadly categorized into traditional (serum creatinine), emerging (cystatin C), and disease specific (Interleukin-6). The purpose of this narrative review is to synthesize the current evidence regarding the use of eGFR in diverse populations. Human aid nonprofit organizations across the United States face significant challenges in recruiting volunteers, which impacts their ability to deliver essential services to vulnerable populations. The issue is important to nonprofit leaders because a lack of volunteers threatens organizational operations and sustainability. The purpose of this qualitative research project, grounded in self-determination theory, was to explore successful strategies nonprofit leaders use to enhance volunteer recruitment. In recent years, faculty members in higher education found themselves at the intersection of rising student mental health concerns and increasing institutional expectations regarding student support. While universities traditionally framed faculty as educators and researchers, faculty roles now require engagement in emotional labor and crisis management—often without corresponding training. This dissertation explores how instructors at one university navigate these expanding expectations, examining their self-understanding, institutional positioning, and the broader implications of compliance care work. Parental trauma can have a profound effect on children. The process of passing along traumatic experiences, known as the intergenerational transmission of trauma (IGT) and the process of passing along adaptations to these adverse circumstances, known as the intergenerational transmission of resilience (IGR), have been explored in populations such as survivors of the Holocaust and war refugees (Danieli et al., 2017; Kellermann, 2001; Sangalang & Vang, 2017). Ableism, or prejudice and discrimination on the basis of dis/ability is of growing interest to both practitioners and researchers (Branco et al., 2019; Friedman & Awsumb, 2019). As the complexity of healthcare continues to grow, it is essential that nursing graduates enter the workforce with strong clinical judgment, confidence, and practice readiness. Simulation is an active learning strategy that creates a realistic, hands-on experiences for learners. Despite its widespread use, the impact of simulation roles within a simulated experience (participant versus observer) on student engagement remains unclear, particularly across different levels of nursing education. The Effects Of Targeted Interventions On Student Engagement With Feedback: A Meta-Analysis, Andy A. Accettola

ABSTRACT This meta-analysis examines the effects of classroom interventions aimed at enhancing student engagement with feedback in K–12 and higher education settings. Drawing on the framework developed by Winstone et al. (2017), interventions were categorized into four major feedback engagement categories and 14 subcomponents. A systematic review identified eligible experimental studies published between 2014 and 2023, each reporting outcomes relevant to student feedback engagement. Effect sizes were calculated using standardized mean differences, and subgroup analyses explored the relative influence of intervention categories, subcomponents, and moderators. Findings from this meta-analysis indicate that targeted interventions to enhance student engagement with feedback generally …

The United States Veterans Health Administration (VHA) provides care for female veterans who have experienced military sexual trauma (MST), which is harassment and physical assault that occurs while on active military duty. This generic qualitative study involved understanding coping skills of cisgender African American female veterans who experienced MST and the impact of race on their coping skills. A significant gap exists in literature regarding how African American female veterans have coped with MST. Vessel-to-Grid (V2G) technology offers significant potential for supporting grid stability, boosting renewable energy integration, and increasing the profitability of electric vessels (EVs) through intelligent energy management. However, concerns linger regarding the impact of frequent charge-discharge cycles on battery health, especially with the further inclusion of the V2G power cycles. The shift to remote learning has significantly influenced cognitive load among university students, impacting their ability to learn and comprehend effectively. In this study, we assessed cognitive load among students at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a cross-sectional descriptive design, we collected data from 2,085 students via self-administered questionnaires between February and May of 2021. The sample was predominantly female (78.5%) and single (91.3%). The Cognitive Load Scale (subscale range: 0-40) revealed moderate mean scores of 19.59 for intrinsic load (ICL) and 16.69 for extraneous load (ECL), with …
