The objective of this study is to model variations in pump geometry to obtain optimal performance under the effects of cavitation. The resulting geometric variation models were then simulated using ANSYS Fluent software. The first geometric variation model used a standard 5-blade impeller with suction pipe diameter variations of 2, 2 ½, 2 ¾, 3, 3 ¼, 3 ½, and 4 inches. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Intimate partner violence (IPV) and child physical abuse often co-occur, but the frequency and risk factors for abusive injuries in IPV-exposed children remain unknown. Our objectives were to (1) determine frequency of skeletal surveys (SSs) and neuroimaging use because of IPV and their diagnostic value in children aged less than 24 months evaluated by a child abuse pediatrics specialist (CAP) and (2) identify factors associated with performance of and findings on SS and neuroimaging.

BACKGROUND: The GM2 gangliosidoses (GM2) are ultra-rare neurodegenerative disorders caused by deficient hexosaminidase A and/or B activity, leading to lysosomal GM2 ganglioside accumulation. Disease onset ranges from infancy to adulthood, with earlier onset associated with more rapid progression. Neurofilament light chain (NfL), a sensitive marker of axonal injury, has been extensively investigated as a biomarker for neurodegenerative disorders, including GM2.

METHODS: To evaluate its clinical utility as a biomarker for GM2, NfL was measured in patients with GM2 enrolled in a Phase 2b, multinational, rater-blinded study of levacetylleucine [NCT03759665], and in its open-label Extension Phase (EP).

In aggressive marine environments, the deterioration of reinforced concrete structures is primarily caused by chloride-induced corrosion of embedded carbon steel reinforcement, resulting in concrete cracking, spalling, and costly maintenance or premature replacement. Corrosion-resistant reinforcement has been developed to mitigate these effects; however, long-term field performance data remain limited. This study evaluates the long-term corrosion performance of several corrosion-resistant rebars embedded in simulated deck slab concrete specimens following approximately 20 years of chloride exposure.

Immersive technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and point-of-care ultrasound are increasingly used in medical education, yet most studies evaluate these tools in isolation. As a result, the relationships among immersive experience, cognitive workload, technical performance, and downstream diagnostic assessment remain poorly understood. This exploratory secondary analysis applied the Immersive Learning Engagement-Performance (ILEP) conceptual framework to a staged multimodal dataset to examine whether selected immersive psychological variables were associated with downstream Extension Proficiency Composite and exploratory distal diagnostic performance.

Estuaries are productive but highly variable ecosystems that support recreationally and commercially valuable fisheries, as well as species of conservation concern. However, coastal development, habitat loss, altered freshwater inflow, and declining water quality can modify the environmental gradients that structure fish distributions. In the St. Lucie River and southern Indian River Lagoon, located in southeast Florida, managed freshwater discharges, watershed runoff, shoreline modification, and degradation of essential fish habitats (e.g., seagrass, oyster, and mangrove forests) have altered estuarine conditions.

Tea (Camellia sinensis L.) is an emerging specialty crop in Louisiana and the southeastern United States; however, region-specific nitrogen (N) management recommendations remain limited. This research evaluated N fertilizer source, application rate, and nutrient leaching to identify management strategies that improve nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) and environmental sustainability during tea establishment.

Three complementary studies evaluated N source replacement, application rate, and fertilizer source effects on nutrient retention and movement. We use economic experiments to study a fundamental question in political economy: Do voters understand the benefits of taxes? Participants play an economic game as members of a virtual society composed of computer players. In each round, the players earn low or high income, see the distribution of income, and then vote for low or high taxes. We test whether participants vote rationally for high taxes when poor and low taxes when rich, following a classic model in political economy, or whether they focus on the burden of taxes more than the benefits. Background: Peptic ulcer disease refers to deep erosions in the mucosal layer of the GIT and is highly associated with upper gut bleeding, which results in anaemia. Ferritin is a protein that stores iron in the body.

Aim: To estimate serum ferritin levels in relation to anaemia in peptic ulcer disease and assess its potential as a predictor of peptic ulcer bleeding.

Method: A case-control study in Kerbala, Iraq, measured ferritin by ELISA and anaemia by Hb levels on CBC, with ROC curves used to assess sensitivity and specificity.

This study aimed to reveal the potential of Asian swamp eel protein hydrolysate as an anticancer candidate in the cervix. Asian swamp eel protein hydrolysate was produced by hydrolyzing flesh with the enzyme alcalase. Compounds and peptides were identified using LC-HRMS. We extend both results to proper and discrete Iwasawa CFs, including real, complex, 3D, quaternionic, octonionic, and Heisenberg CFs. Millions of consumers navigate dietary restrictions every time they eat out, whether due to food allergies, religious practices, or lifestyle choices such as veganism. Yet most restaurant menus do little to acknowledge these needs. This report summarizes findings from a three-phase study that explored which menu design features most effectively communicate inclusivity to diners with dietary restrictions and how those features influence emotions, attitudes, and likelihood of choosing a restaurant. The results offer restaurant operators concrete, evidence-based strategies for making their menus more welcoming and, in doing so, expanding their customer base.
