Background: Hydromorphone is a semi-synthetic opioid agonist and a hydrogenated ketone of morphine. This study examined hydromorphone use in the United States (US) using three databases. Methods: The distribution of hydromorphone in the US (in grams) was provided by the US Drug Enforcement Administration’s Automated Reports and Consolidated Orders System (ARCOS) by state, zip code, and business type (pharmacies, hospitals, providers, etc.). Hydromorphone prescription claims were also examined using the Medicaid and Medicare Part D programs from 2010 to 2023. Results: Hydromorphone increased by +30.6% by 2013, followed by a decrease of −55.9% by 2023 in ARCOS. Medicaid prescriptions increased …

Background Post-operative acute kidney injury (AKI) following cardiac surgery represents a significant clinical challenge, associated with heightened mortality and an increased propensity for chronic kidney disease. Ischemia-reperfusion injury, a primary pathophysiological mechanism, induces renal tubular damage, releasing biomarkers such as Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) and hemojuvelin (HJV) into the urine. The quantification of these urinary biomarkers offers a means for early AKI detection and risk stratification, with the potential to improve patient prognosis. This scoping review examines the extent and quality of research literature to determine the impact of motor skills difficulties on college or university students. It assesses the adequacy of current institutional supports and identifies opportunities for more inclusive educational practices.

Four databases (PubMed, SCOPUS, PsycINFO, and Web of Science) were searched for English-language studies published since 1970. Eighteen studies met inclusion criteria: 12 empirical, 4 descriptive, and 2 program evaluations. Let $F$ be a Hecke-Maa\ss\  cusp form for $SL(3,\mathbb{Z})$. In this dissertation, we obtain a non-trivial upper bound of the second moment of $L(F,s)$ in the $t$-aspect: $$ \int_{T}^{2T}|L(F,1/2+it)|^2 dt\ll_{F,\epsilon} T^{3/2-3/32+\epsilon}.$$ Immediate corollaries include improvements over the existing results on the Subconvexity bound for self-dual $GL(3)$ $L$-functions in the $t$-aspect and for self-dual $GL(3)\times GL(2)$ $L$-functions in the $GL(2)$ spectral aspect, the error term in the Rankin-Selberg problem, and the zero density estimate for $GL(3)$ $L$-functions.

This paper addresses security challenges in modern electricity distribution systems, where supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) networks are increasingly exposed to cyber threats and fraudulent activities, leading to metering discrepancies. As smart grids become more interconnected, identifying compromised meters and devices at scale requires a robust inference framework. PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Adiponectin, a hormone secreted by adipocytes, plays a crucial role in maintaining metabolic balance and supporting cardiovascular health. Although it is known for its protective effects, such as improving insulin sensitivity, reducing inflammation, and maintaining endothelial function, there are paradoxical associations between high adiponectin levels and increased cardiovascular mortality-referred to as the "adiponectin paradox"-which complicates its clinical interpretation. This review explores the cardioprotective effects of adiponectin in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, focusing on its potential to regulate glucose metabolism and prevent cardiovascular complications.
