Atmosphere: The Charm Of Artistic Innovation In Lu Xun's Fiction―A Case Study Of Call To Arms And Wandering, Jinyan Li
Theoretical Studies in Literature and Art
The concept of “great beauty without words” has been integral to Chinese literary theory since ancient times. Since the late 20th century, the aesthetics of atmosphere has gained increasing attention in academic research, which provides a new perspectives for appreciating, evaluating, and interpreting works of literature and art. Lu Xun excels at creating unique artistic aesthetics through the construction of diverse atmospheres in his fiction. In his works, Lu Xun utilizes specific hallucinations and visions to present ineffable aesthetics, revealing characters' unconscious layers. At the same time, Lu Xun also integrates different psychological sensations and impressions through artistic techniques such …
Lu Xun And Zhu Qianzhi: Two Forms Of Nihilism In Modern Chinese Thought, Quanzhi Zhang
Lu Xun And Zhu Qianzhi: Two Forms Of Nihilism In Modern Chinese Thought, Quanzhi Zhang
Theoretical Studies in Literature and Art
Nihilism, intertwined with anarchist thought, was introduced to China in the late Qing Dynasty and attracted widespread attention. Although Lu Xun was not a nihilist in the strict sense, his philosophical outlook exhibited clear nihilistic tendencies. Zhu Qianzhi, a representative nihilist during the May Fourth period, radically rejected and resisted all established norms, asserting that “knowledge is stolen goods”, a position Lu Xun satirically critiqued. Despite their shared engagement with nihilist ideas, these two followed fundamentally different intellectual trajectories: Lu Xun represents a mature engagement with nihilism, marked by appropriation, critical reflection, and eventual transcendence, while Zhu embodies the impulsive …

Objectives To investigate the occurrence of depression and mental health disorders other than depression among Brazilian people with intellectual disabilities, analysing data from a national household survey.
Design Cross-sectional epidemiological study using data from the 2019 National Health Survey (PNS).
Setting Brazil, nationwide data collection in urban and rural private households.
Participants 272 499 individuals, among whom 1.2% (n=3198) reported intellectual disabilities.
Primary outcome measures Self-reported depression and mental health disorders other than depression (anxiety, panic, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, psychosis or obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD)), either isolated or comorbid.
Results Among people with intellectual disabilities, 43.2% reported at least one mental …

Computational Analysis And Atom Wise Statistics Of Protein-Carbohydrate Interactions, Ahmad Firoz
Computational Analysis And Atom Wise Statistics Of Protein-Carbohydrate Interactions, Ahmad Firoz
The Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Science
Carbohydrates typically show an inclination to bind aromatic residues. Since it is extremely difficult to discriminate between carbohydrate binding and non-binding residues, therefore, in this work, we attempted to identify patterns that may affect carbohydrate binding. To accomplish this, we examined the amino acid residues from the 5th preceding to the 5th residue following each carbohydrate binding and non-binding site. The neighborhood environment of diverse types of experimentally determined protein-carbohydrate complexes was surveyed. The results revealed a notable tendency for non-polar or hydrophobic and polar-charged amino acids on either side of the carbohydrate binding sites. We also compiled …

Learning How To Practice Takes Practice, Micah Killion, Robert Duke
John J. Cali School of Music Scholarship and Creative Works
Effective music learning depends on effective music practice. Although time spent with teachers is an important component of young musicians’ development, time spent alone practicing is perhaps even more consequential. Researchers and teachers have offered many prescriptions about effective music practice, yet observations of young musicians’ actual practice reveal that their behavior in the practice room is often quite unlike what teachers envision. The most important aspects of effective practice are the thinking, perceiving, and decision-making that serve to organize how musicians spend their time. We discuss how to help students focus their attention in ways that lead to the …

An Integrated Decision Support System For Bim Level 3 Implementation, Lama Abumoeilak, Salwa Beheiry, Serter Atabay
Civil and Environmental Engineering Faculty Publications
The Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector accounts for 39% of greenhouse gas emissions, 40% of solid waste, and 12% of potablewater usage globally, underscoring the need for sustainable, efficient practices. Building Information Modeling (BIM) offers a digital framework to address these challenges through lifecycle management, collaboration, and efficiency gains. However, most organizations remain at BIM Level 2 maturity, which limits their potential for full integration. This study proposes a comprehensive Decision Support System (DSS) to facilitate the adoption of BIM Level 3, with an emphasis on collaboration, sustainability, and data interoperability. The DSS integrates Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), Analytical …
Investigation Of Different Pretreatment Methods On Macroalgal Biomass For Efficient Biohydrogen Production Via Dark Fermentation, Abeer Dhafer S. Alqahtani, Bassam O. Aljohny, Arulazhagan Pugazhendi
Investigation Of Different Pretreatment Methods On Macroalgal Biomass For Efficient Biohydrogen Production Via Dark Fermentation, Abeer Dhafer S. Alqahtani, Bassam O. Aljohny, Arulazhagan Pugazhendi
The Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Science
Traditional fossil fuel sources cannot meet increasing energy demand and lead to rising health and global warming concerns. Biohydrogen is a promising alternative to fossil fuels in the zero-carbon economy of the future. The third generation of biofuel that microorganisms produce is biohydrogen. Dark fermentation is gaining attention, which needs little energy and has a higher production rate than other techniques. The biomass of macroalgae has excellent potential as a substrate through dark fermentation. Macroalgae, also known as seaweed, is a highly abundant, fast-growing, and renewable resource that can be sustainably harvested. Macroalgae with significant carbohydrate and no lignin content …
