Dlx3 (distal-less homeobox 3) haploinsufficiency in mice has been shown to result in restricted fetal growth and placental defects. We previously showed that maternal choline supplementation (4X versus 1X choline) in the Dlx3+/ mouse increased fetal and placental growth in mid-gestation. The current study sought to test the hypothesis that prenatal choline would modulate indicators of placenta function and development. Pregnant Dlx3+/ mice consuming 1X (control), 2X, or 4X choline from conception were sacrificed at embryonic (E) days E10.5, E12.5, E15.5, and E18.5, and placentas and embryos were harvested. Data were analyzed separately for each gestational day controlling for litter …

Blackfeet Housing V. Reevis, Et Al, 18-Ap-02 (Blkft. Tr. Ct. App., Feb. 12, 2019), Blackfeet Appellate Court
Court Decisions
In the Blackfeet Tribal Court of Appeals, the Court upheld a lower court determination, upholding an eviction, and that the defendant did violate their lease agreement. The appellate Court finds nothing in the Tribal Trial Court record which gives cause for review of any legal issue and does not find cause to set aside any trial court determinations of fact.
Organizational Culture And Climate Profiles: Relationships With Fidelity To Three Evidence-Based Practices For Autism In Elementary Schools, Nathaniel J. Williams
Organizational Culture And Climate Profiles: Relationships With Fidelity To Three Evidence-Based Practices For Autism In Elementary Schools, Nathaniel J. Williams
Social Work Faculty Publications and Presentations
Background: Implementation researchers have typically studied organizational culture and climate by testing whether individual dimensions are linked to the implementation of evidence-based practices (EBPs) rather than examining how the overarching social context influences implementation. This approach may limit implementation theory and strategy development to the extent that individual dimensions of culture and climate interact, mutually reinforce or counteract one another, or exhibit non-linear relationships. This study tests whether empirically identifiable culture and climate profiles emerge in a sample of organizations and examines how these profiles relate to EBP fidelity and work attitudes that support EBP sustainment, focusing on three EBPs …

An Exploration Of The Experience Of Adults With Learning Disabilities Through Art, Adi Greenboim-Zimchoni
Expressive Therapies Dissertations
This study employed arts-based research with phenomenological, qualitative inquiry to understand and explore the perspectives of adults with learning disabilities and their sense of self and support in inclusive and special education classrooms in Israel during their school years. In this study, the researcher attempted to take Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory (1979) one step further by examining the participants’ feelings and relationships with the people in their daily lives during childhood. The researcher met with 12 participants ages 18-31 diagnosed with learning disabilities between third and eleventh grade. Participants created drawings illustrating how they felt about teachers, parents, friends and …

Comparison Of Heparg Cells Following Growth In Proliferative And Differentiated Culture Conditions Reveals Distinct Bioenergetic Profiles., Carolyn K J Young, Matthew J Young
Articles
HepaRG is a proliferative human hepatoma-derived cell line that can be differentiated into hepatocyte-like and biliary-like cells. Differentiated HepaRG cultures maintain key hepatic functions including drug transporters and xenobiotic-metabolizing enzymes. To gain insight into proliferative and differentiated HepaRG metabolism we profiled various bioenergetic parameters and investigated cell culture levels of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), lactate, and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity. Compared to differentiated-derived HepaRG, cells from proliferative cultures had increased basal and ATP-linked respiration and decreased maximal and spare respiratory capacities. Basal ATP levels but not lactate or LDH activity were increased in samples from proliferative-derived compared to differentiated-derived HepaRG. Further …

Focusing On The Good: Creating A Healthy Work Environment Through Meaningful Recognition, Sherry M. Steffans
Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)
The link between a HWE and the quality of patient care and staff retention is clear (AACN, 2016). One component of a HWE is meaningful recognition. This presentation describes the development of a communication board implemented by staff as a medium toward improved meaningful recognition both between management and peers.

Melt Inclusions And Their Application - New Perspective On The Subsurface Architecture Of Cerro Negro Volcano, Nicaragua, John M. Hamilton
Melt Inclusions And Their Application - New Perspective On The Subsurface Architecture Of Cerro Negro Volcano, Nicaragua, John M. Hamilton
Earth and Planetary Sciences ETDs
Volatiles are the drivers of volcanic eruptions and monitoring and measurement in quiescent times are the key in determining when unrest within a volcanic system is beginning leading to possible cataclysms. Previous studies have focused on direct measurements from volcanic plumes or fumaroles, however, this study proposes the use of melt inclusions from tephra to determine volatile contents from the 1992 eruption of Cerro Negro Volcano, Nicaragua. The analysis of melt inclusions adds a new technique to the volatile analytical toolbox and can help to determine volatile contents from past eruptions and their subsequent evolution within a volcanic system.

“Lotta Food, No Money”: Syracuse’S Poor Have Challenges That Are Much Bigger Than Food Access, Katie Mott
“Lotta Food, No Money”: Syracuse’S Poor Have Challenges That Are Much Bigger Than Food Access, Katie Mott
Population Health Research Brief Series
Food access is a central target for addressing poor health in low-income communities nationwide. A 2019 study found that the recent closure of a local family grocery store was a major concern for local elected officials and leaders of nonprofit agencies. However, people living in extreme poverty do not view food access as their most important health challenge. Finding safe and affordable housing, navigating the social welfare system, and finding employment are seen as larger concerns.

Background: This paper describes the development and validation of the Vending Evaluation for Nutrient-Density (VEND)ingaudit to comprehensively evaluate vended products based upon healthfulness, price and promotion, and machine accessibility. Methods: A novel vending nutrient-density score was created to determine the healthfulness of vended snack/beverage products. Field tested in United States colleges, VENDing audit (∑nutrient-density + 10 × % healthy products) and Support sub-scores (price + promotion + accessibility) were calculated for snack/beverage machines. Higher scores indicate more healthful vending options and supports for choosing healthfully. Nutrition Environment Measures Survey-Vending (NEMS-V) was used to validate the nutrient-density score for a sub-sample …
