Snapshot And Trends In The Production And Overseas Trade Of Fruits From Western Australia, Manju Radhakrishnan, Rohan Prince Feb 2019

Snapshot And Trends In The Production And Overseas Trade Of Fruits From Western Australia, Manju Radhakrishnan, Rohan Prince

Bulletins 4000 -

Western Australia produced 129 046 tonnes of fruit in 2015–16, worth $477 million. This was a 62% increase in the value of the industry in a five-year period, driven by strong growth in sales to eastern states and overseas markets. Production expansion in the fruit industry is being led by continued growth of the avocado sector, which was worth an estimated $193m in 2015–16 and now accounts for just over 40% of WA’s total fruit production value. Increased production, WA consumption and demand from the eastern states have led to a 780% increase in the value of avocado sales from …

Reischer, Katalin Demeter, Rita B. Linke, Alfred P. Blaschke, Robert L. Mach, Alexander K. T. Kirschner, Hermann Stadler, Andreas H. Farnleitner

KIP Articles

Alpine karst aquifers are important groundwater resources for the provision of drinking water all around the world. Yet, due to difficult accessibility and long-standing methodological limitations, the microbiology of these systems has long been understudied. The aim of the present study was to investigate the structure and dynamics of bacterial communities in spring water of an alpine limestone karst aquifer (LKAS2) under different hydrological conditions (base vs. event flow). The study was based on high-throughput 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing, study design and sample selection were guided by hydrology and pollution microbiology data. Spanning more than 27 months, our analyses …

Bulk Density And Porewater Data Collected Onboard R/V Weatherbird Ii Cruise Wb-0816 And Field Expeditions In The Gulf Of Mexico From 2016-08-05 To 2016-09-09, Gregg R. Brooks, Rebekka A. Larson

C-IMAGE data

This dataset reports measurement of sediment sample wet weight (g) and dry weight (g) for core sub-samples at 2mm sampling intervals for “surficial unit” and 5mm sampling resolution intervals to the base of cores. Bulk density is the dry weight per sampling volume expressed as g/cm3 and is utilized in the calculation of Mass Accumulation Rates (MAR’s). The dataset also reports percent porewater. The sediment cores were collected onboard the R/V Weatherbird II cruise WB-0816 in the northern Gulf of Mexico and during a land-based field expedition in Mexico (MX-0816) from 2016-08-05 to 2016-09-09. The R/V Weatherbird II cruise WB-0816 …

Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry Faculty Publications

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines glycogen-rich clear cell carcinoma (GRCC) of the breast as a carcinoma with glycogen accumulation in more than 90% of its tumor cells. Due to the rarity of this disease, its reported survival and clinical associations have been inconsistent due to reliance on case reports and limited case series. As a result, the prognostic implication of this cancer subtype remains unclear. Using the U.S. Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) program database, we compared the incidence, demographics and prognostic factors of 155 cases of GRCC of the breast to 1,251,584 cases of other (non-GRCC) breast …

Individualized Frequency Importance Functions For Listeners With Sensorineural Hearing Loss, Sarah E. Yoho Leopold, Adam K. Bosen Feb 2019

Individualized Frequency Importance Functions For Listeners With Sensorineural Hearing Loss, Sarah E. Yoho Leopold, Adam K. Bosen

Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education Faculty Publications

The Speech Intelligibility Index includes a series of frequency importance functions for calculating the estimated intelligibility of speech under various conditions. Until recently, techniques to derive frequency importance required averaging data over a group of listeners, thus hindering the ability to observe individual differences due to factors such as hearing loss. In the current study, the “random combination strategy” [Bosen and Chatterjee (2016). J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 140, 3718–3727] was used to derive frequency importance functions for individual hearing-impaired listeners, and normal-hearing participants for comparison. Functions were measured by filtering sentences to contain only random subsets of frequency bands …

Improving The Effectiveness Of The Informed Consent Process In Elective Aesthetic Procedures, Chelsea Olivia Hagopian, Teresa B. Ades, Thomas Martin Hagopian, Erik Wolfswinkel, Grant Stevens

Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)

Informed consent is commonly reduced to a legal formality rather than upholding its ethical ideal of being a process of shared decision-making. We present a multiphase development process model for creating a patient decision aid prototype to replace the traditional informed consent documents for primary breast augmentation surgery.
