Red Drum Cewaf Uptake/Depuration Study: Rna-Seq Transcriptome Characterization Of Tissue, Dana Wetzel, Tracy Sherwood, Christelle Miller, Rebecca Medvecky

C-IMAGE data

This dataset contains the raw reads generated from RNA sequencing of the transcriptome of liver tissue collected from controls (three replicates) and chemically enhanced water accommodated fraction (CEWAF, three replicates) exposed red drum (Sciaenops ocellatus). Illumina high-throughput RNA-sequencing technology was used to sequence, assemble and annotate the transcriptome of tissues from livers of the red drum after exposure to CEWAF/Control. This dataset is available at the NCBI-SRA database accession number SRP159002.

A Collection Of Masses Or: Weaving A World Recalled (A Collage Of Things Once Seen), Max Dymond Bartsch

Art

“A Collection of Masses” serves as an introspective look at the visual inspiration and synthesis of a creative childhood, lifestyle, and culture. The writing serves as a personal history, detailing significant artists and works and the ways they served as influences. I was born into a family of artists. I grew up watching my mother paint and lived in a domestic space with art studio pockets throughout it. In our household we always made things and I find my working method most absorbed in that act of creativity and process. My masters thesis body of work revolves around system relationships …

Using Information Literacy To The Lead The Fourth Industrial Revolution, Rachael Juskuv, Maura Keating

Library Staff Publications, Presentations & Journal Articles

Our future in the world ahead will include continued upskilling and dexterity in learning. While technical skills are crucial, we must be able to understand, be critical of, and evaluate the cultural, historical, and technical background behind the data to be effective users and creators of data. While data are the facts or details from which information is derived, individual pieces of data are rarely useful alone. For data to become information, data needs to be put into context. Information literacy is the tool that helps to build meaning. During this session, we’ll examine recent examples of data misunderstanding and …

High Efficiency Drug Repurposing Design For New Antifungal Agents, Jong H. Kim, Kathleen L. Chan, Luisa W. Cheng, Lisa A. Tell, Barbara A. Byrne, Kristin Clothier, Kirkwood M. Land

College of the Pacific Faculty Articles

Current antifungal interventions have often limited efficiency in treating fungal pathogens, particularly those resistant to commercial drugs or fungicides. Antifungal drug repurposing is an alternative intervention strategy, whereby new utility of various marketed, non-antifungal drugs could be repositioned as novel antifungal agents. In this study, we investigated "chemosensitization" as a method to improve the efficiency of antifungal drug repurposing, wherein combined application of a second compound (viz., chemosensitizer) with a conventional, non-antifungal drug could greatly enhance the antifungal activity of the co-applied drug. Redox-active natural compounds or structural derivatives, such as thymol (2-isopropyl-5-methylphenol), 4-isopropyl-3-methylphenol, or 3,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde, could serve as potent …

The work I presented reflects on GVC 530, GVC 535, GVC 570, GVC 575 and GVC 585. For GVC 570, I focused on addressing an issue that a lot of college students face which is doing laundry. I created a company with a logo, storyboard and commercial. GVC 575 - the inspiration for focusing on women came from Kara Walker, an African-American artist who celebrates historical eras and womanhood, embracing the female body. GVC 585 - created a 3D logo and model of home using Maya. GVC 535 - created hand drawings and 2D illustrations throughout the work. There is …

Dependent Coverage Mandates And Moral Hazard, Fred Bedsworth Apr 2019

Dependent Coverage Mandates And Moral Hazard, Fred Bedsworth

Applied Econometrics Workshops

Empirical studies have found it difficult to separately identify adverse selection from moral hazard since the individual effects tend to affect observable behavior in the same way. Using the state level dependent coverage mandates that were passed before the Affordable Care Act's dependent coverage mandate took effect, I am able to control for selection into insurance and more credibly identify moral hazard. More specifically, I use the variation in eligibility criteria and the timing of implementations of the mandates across states over time in order to discern among the individual effects of hidden information. Data from the Behavioral Risk Factor …

Role Reversal: Exploring The M&A Process When The Family Firm Is The Acquirer, Darin Dredge Apr 2019

Role Reversal: Exploring The M&A Process When The Family Firm Is The Acquirer, Darin Dredge

PhD in Business Administration Dissertations

Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) are a popular strategy to grow a firm. The prevalent view is that large, publicly traded non-family firms acquire much smaller, usually privately held firms, many of which are family owned. This view neglects, however, that family firms also utilize M&A to grow. Moreover, the vast majority of companies – even the largest – are family controlled. However, we know little about why and how family firms use M&A as a growth strategy. Furthermore, the M&A process – defined as pre-acquisition decision making and post-acquisition integration – is different when families take on the role of …

Porting Symbolic Libraries From Maple To Python, James Lewis

Physics Capstone Projects

Utah State University has a database of tables of the known solutions of the Einstein Field Equation. This database is primarily recorded in the symbolic computing program Maple. This database needs to be translated into Python code so the information can be more accessible to the general public. This translation was successful for one table, which means that it is possible to translate the entire database.
