The Supreme Court has increasingly defined property rights that are per se exempt from regulation in the absence of compensation, most recently in Cedar Point Nursery v. Hassid (2021) and Tyler v. Hennepin County (2023). The Court claims that it can identify property rights that are categorically protected from regulation by reference to history, tradition, and precedent. Yet this approach is oddly ahistorical; it is inconsistent with the fact that property law changed dramatically over U.S. history, as well as varying tremendously among the states. The South East Asian Journal of Management

Research Aims: This study examines the influence of live shopping on consumer purchase decisions in Indonesia, focusing on key features such as interactivity, promotional urgency, and influencer marketing. It also investigates the mediating effect of consumer trust and the moderating role of social commerce experience.

Design/Methodology/Approach: A quantitative approach was employed, using survey data from 265 Indonesian consumers who engage in live shopping. The analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) in SmartPLS.

Research Findings: Interactivity, promotional urgency, and influencer marketing significantly impact consumer purchase decisions, both directly and indirectly through consumer trust. Promotional urgency …

Debt oppression began before the United States became a country. Settlers enslaved Africans and Indigenous people, treating them as property that they could buy and sell for their economic and personal benefit. When enslavement became illegal, new economic systems and laws that included sharecropping, Black Codes, and Jim Crow kept Black people in servitude. Laws that prohibited enslaved people from owning property or selling goods to white people evolved into restrictions on Black people’s occupations and market participation, both formal and informal. When Black entrepreneurs overcame these obstacles and built wealth within Black business enclaves, white people enforced their racist …

Juvenile courts are based on the premise that children are different from adults and should therefore be treated differently. Children may be treated more informally by courts, punished for different purposes, and brought before the court for different behaviors. Since In re Gault, the Supreme Court has been clear that there are limits to how different juvenile courts can be. Juveniles are entitled to many of the same procedural protections as adult criminal defendants, although the Court has preserved some procedural differences where it has determined that their benefit is outweighed by the need to preserve the informality, flexibility, …

This Note addresses the ongoing debate over fluoridation: the regulation of fluoride levels in public water systems. Extensive research indicates fluoridation, when regulated at the recommended concentration, is both safe and highly effective in preventing dental caries. Better known as cavities, dental caries is a preventable yet widespread health issue that disproportionately affects low-income populations. Reducing dental health disparities among economic classes is a pressing public health issue. Fluoridation is not merely a policy option, but a critical, proven tool to address such disparities and uphold the collective welfare of Washingtonians. The Americans with Disabilities Act has required equal access to jury service for decades; however, efforts to accommodate jurors with disabilities have been slow to develop beyond some minor accommodations for physical disabilities. While neurodivergent people frequently struggle to navigate a world catered toward neurotypical people, jury service remains inaccessible for many neurodivergent people who need accommodations to attend trial and engage in jury deliberations. If courts and advocates do not consider how to develop accommodations to secure the service of neurodivergent jurors, they will miss out on the unique skillsets that neurodivergent people can bring to resolving disputes.

To preserve the intent of the EAJA, it is time for the Court of Appeals to decide in favor of catalyst theory for litigants. My artwork consists of large self portrait drawings. They are about my experience with getting raped and sexually assaulted. The drawings being such a large scale is a way that I can force the audience to be confronted with what I want to say. Like Yoko Ono’s Cut Piece, I give the audience tools to do what they want with my drawing. By placing the same materials in their hands, I force the audience into embodying my abuser, whether they want it or not. In reality I’m objectifying myself through my drawings and letting the viewer assault me.

How microtubules (MTs) are generated in the proper orientation is essential to understanding how the cytoskeleton organizes a cell and MT-dependent events such as cell division. In the spindle, most MTs are generated through the branching MT nucleation pathway. In this pathway, new MTs are nucleated from the side of existing MTs and oriented at a shallow angle by the branching factor augmin, ensuring that both MTs have the same polarity. Yet, how augmin binds MTs and sets the branch angle has remained unclear. Here, we report the cryo-electron microscopy structure of an augmin subcomplex on the MT. This structure …

Analyzing Surface Spectral Signature Shifts In Fire-Affected Areas Of Elko County Nevada, Ibtihaj Ahmad, Haroon Stephen

This study investigates post-fire vegetation transitions and spectral responses in the Snowstorm Fire (2017) and South Sugarloaf Fire (2018) in Nevada using Landsat 8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) surface reflectance imagery and unsupervised ISODATA classification. By comparing pre-fire and post-fire conditions, we have assessed changes in vegetation composition, spectral signatures, and the emergence of novel land cover types. The results revealed widespread conversion of shrubland and conifer-dominated systems to herbaceous cover with significant reductions in near-infrared reflectance and elevated shortwave infrared responses, indicative of vegetation loss and surface alteration. In the South Sugarloaf Fire, three new spectral classes emerged post-fire, …

Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory condition requiring surgical or imaging visualization for definitive diagnosis. How endometriotic lesion characteristics relate to circulating inflammatory markers remains unclear. We evaluated 11 inflammatory biomarkers, including interleukin (IL)-1β, -6, -8, -10, -16, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, thymus and activation regulated chemokine (TARC), monocyte chemotactic protein (MCP)-1, -4, and Interferon gamma-induced protein (IP)-10, in 566 participants with endometriosis from the Women’s Health Study: From Adolescence to Adulthood (A2A), Endometriosis Oxford Care & Research (CaRe) study (ENDOX) and Endometriosis: Natural History, Diagnosis, and Outcome (ENDO) study to evaluate associations with endometriosis characteristics, including macrophenotype (superficial lesions only, …
