BACKGROUND: Advocacy is a professional nursing responsibility [1,2], and refers to speaking up or empowering marginalised individuals or groups [3]. Nursing advocacy requires "tending" to the needs of the community in which care occurs [4], thereby addressing the social determinants of health [5]. In 2025, the International Council of Nurses (ICN) redefined nursing with a call to extend advocacy beyond individual needs [4]. The subject apartment was found to be an unlawful combination of predecessor apartments whose legal rent was never registered with DHCR, requiring application of the default formula under RSC § 2522.6(b)(3) to calculate overcharge damages. The court awarded a rent abatement, civil penalties for harassment, and entered an order enjoining the landlord from further harassing the tenant.

South Florida hosts a number of non-native wildlife species, including African monkeys. This study examined wild vervet monkeys (Chlorocebus sabaeus) in Dania Beach, Florida, to determine whether aircraft-related atmospheric noise affected their threat detection capabilities and behavioral responses. Using predator-call playbacks and focal scan samples, behavioral data was recorded across pre-, during-, and post-playback phases. Behaviors were labeled as nonvigilant or vigilant. The study also assessed whether responses differed between the local and novel predator calls as well as whether repeated trials suggested habituation over the course of the experiment. The ability to organize experiences in time is fundamental to episodic memory and enables animals to predict and guide future behavior. Hippocampal time cells are thought to provide a neural representation for the temporal component of memory. However, time cells have been observed in working memory tasks where animals were not required to keep track of elapsed time. Therefore, it remains unclear what are the hippocampal patterns of activity during explicit timing. The doctoral project was focused on improving staff education and development to prevent chronic kidney disease (CKD) through community health worker (CHW) education. The practice problem was the delayed identification of CKD risk factors and late referral to nephrology services, particularly among rural and underserved populations. Because CKD often progresses without symptoms, early education and awareness are critical to improving outcomes and reducing disease progression. The effects of climate change contribute to volatile temperature changes, which coupled with pollen exposure pose a significant threat to asthmatic people, potentially impacting methods for asthma management. The purpose of this ecological time-series study was to use the carbon dioxide theory of climate change, Dutch hypothesis, and social ecological model to estimate the relationship between average temperature and average pollen concentrations on average asthma morbidity outcomes for adults living in metropolitan Atlanta from 2020 to 2022 (N = 37,913). Results varied in terms of years, socioeconomic status (SES) vulnerability, gender, and racial group. Overall, a linear regression model revealed …

Hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) remain a major cause of preventable morbidity, mortality, and healthcare utilization among hospitalized patients. Limited research has examined the relationship between diabetes and HAIs in Puerto Rican populations. The purpose of this quantitative cross-sectional study was to examine the prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and its association with HAI characteristics and hospitalization outcomes among patients in southern Puerto Rico. Hospitalized children frequently experience heightened anxiety, especially during invasive procedures. Among psychosocial interventions, medical clowning has emerged as effective in improving emotional well-being. In Taiwan, past study suggested group-based medical clown services improve children’s emotional well-being, but evidence for individualized services—recently adopted in Taiwan—is limited. Motivation: Antibody therapeutic efficacy depends on high-affinity target engagement, yet laboratory affinity maturation is slow and costly. Most protein language models (PLMs) lack explicit training for high affinity, and current preference optimization methods introduce computational overhead without clear affinity improvements. Therefore, structure-aware and parameter-efficient approaches for antibody affinity optimization are urgently needed.

Results: We propose SimBinder-IF, a structure-aware antibody optimization model trained by freezing the Evolutionary Scale Modeling inverse folding (ESM-IF) structure encoder and fine-tuning only its decoder via Simple Preference Optimization (SimPO) to prefer stronger binders. MDRPIs are recognized as a nursing-sensitive quality indicator and excluded from hospital reimbursement systems, underscoring their clinical and economic significance [2,3]. Although largely preventable, accurate risk prediction remains limited due to the absence of MDRPI-specific tools for adults [4,5]. This study aimed to develop and validate a new, highly predictive risk assessment scale—MedRAS—to enable early identification and prevention of MDRPIs in adult inpatients.

Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) can impact midlife well-being, however, their impact on middle-aged men is understudied. (1-5). This study aimed to examine the relationship between ACEs and well-being in middle-aged men, focusing on the mediating role of andropause symptoms to help develop strategies for improving men’s well-being.

This descriptive cross-sectional study included 444 community-dwelling men between the ages of 40 and 64 in Korea. Data were collected through an online survey. Individuals with psychological conditions impairing cognitive functions were excluded. As Large Language Models and AI chatbots become increasingly prevalent, pressing questions are raised about whether beliefs formed through LLM interactions carry the same epistemic weight as beliefs formed through human testimony. How we answer this question depends on whether LLMs can function as testifiers, a role which is typically assumed to require a human or human-like agent. This assumption has gone largely unexamined, yet its consequences are significant: if LLM outputs cannot constitute testimony, then the justificatory tools of testimonial epistemology are unavailable to any beliefs formed through LLM interaction. Prolonged length of stay (LOS) in the acute care setting is a challenging issue driven by multiple factors. Increased LOS is associated with mortality, hospital-acquired infections, patient safety events, functional impairment, decreased quality of life, social isolation, and increased cost of care. The causes of increased LOS in the medical-surgical unit are unclear, necessitating an evidence-based project to address the problem.
