Soliciting Autonomous Agent Feedback Via Augmented Response Payloads, Chairy Cheung Jul 2026

Soliciting Autonomous Agent Feedback Via Augmented Response Payloads, Chairy Cheung

Defensive Publications Series

Feedback collection methods designed for human users may be less effective in environments where autonomous agents are consumers of software tools, potentially affecting service improvement. A direct feedback channel can be established by augmenting tool response payloads with machine-parsable instructions. These instructions can prompt a compliant agent to construct and transmit a feedback report, which can be enriched with contextual information from the agent's perspective. This feedback can be solicited, for example, following an error or on a sampled basis for successful operations. The resulting feedback loop can provide data that may inform enhancements to tool performance and usability for …

Culmination Of The Arts And Stem To Enhance Creativity And Promote Learning, Kaleigh Evans Jul 2026

Culmination Of The Arts And Stem To Enhance Creativity And Promote Learning, Kaleigh Evans

Physics and Astronomy Summer Fellows

In this work, we investigate the results from a survey, issued to a course in “Stained Glass” (n= 23 students). Major findings include that the introduction of a problem-based learning (PBL) course in the arts of stained glass may support high demand skills such as interdisciplinary conceptual learning as well as soft skills such as scientific confidence, interdisciplinary transfer, and collaborative learnings. A journal paper draft was completed and will be submitted this Fall. This summer, work was also done to establish a guide to modeling and 3D printing to help establish and grow a makerspace on campus for use …

Development And Psychometric Evaluation Of A Medical Device-Related Pressure Injury Risk Assessment Scale, Ayise Karadag, Aleyna Uçanbelen, Öznur Erbay Dalli Jul 2026

Development And Psychometric Evaluation Of A Medical Device-Related Pressure Injury Risk Assessment Scale, Ayise Karadag, Aleyna Uçanbelen, Öznur Erbay Dalli

Individual Articles

Medical device–related pressure injuries are a significant and largely preventable patient safety problem, yet existing pressure injury risk scales do not adequately capture device-specific risk factors in adults. This methodological study developed and psychometrically evaluated a standardized risk assessment scale to identify medical device–related pressure injury risk in hospitalized adult patients. An initial item pool was generated from an extensive literature review and clinical expertise, and content validity was assessed by seven experts using the Davis technique (content validity index = 0.96). The scale was administered to160 adults receiving at least one medical device in medical, surgical and oncology wards …

Maintaining Excellence Under Pressure: The Stress–Performance Paradox In A Multi-Campus State University System, Rico D. De Asis Dr. Jul 2026

Maintaining Excellence Under Pressure: The Stress–Performance Paradox In A Multi-Campus State University System, Rico D. De Asis Dr.

Higher Learning Research Communications

Objectives: This study examines how multiple stress dimensions (levels, sources, effects, and coping mechanisms) relate to teaching performance in resource-constrained Southeast Asian public higher education, addressing the geographic concentration of faculty stress research in Western contexts.

Methods: Using multiple regression analysis with 80 permanent faculty members across three campuses of a state university system, I assessed relationships between stress factors and teaching performance. The study employed validated stress assessment instruments examining stress levels, sources (student, teacher, environment, work-related), effects (self, family, work), and coping mechanisms.

Results: Self effects of stress demonstrated the strongest negative relationship with teaching performance (R² …

Improving Student Engagement In Mastery Learning Through Improvement Science: A Study In A Stem Laboratory School, Jason C. Mcgregor Jul 2026

Improving Student Engagement In Mastery Learning Through Improvement Science: A Study In A Stem Laboratory School, Jason C. Mcgregor

Education Theses and Dissertations

This improvement science dissertation seeks to address challenges in the effective implementation of a mastery-based instructional model in an open-enrollment K-12 charter school. Many students have demonstrated low motivation for completing formative learning activities, which are essential for personalized feedback and intervention. When students do not complete these activities, content mastery is hindered. This study utilizes improvement science to explore the root causes of the problem, evaluate the effects of previously used interventions, and test an intervention to improve student engagement. Preliminary analyses identified several contributing factors, including students’ feelings of incompetence with the content, frustration with grading policy, untimely …

Rothman Institute Papers

Introduction: Dialysis patients undergoing anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) face elevated perioperative risk due to complex comorbidities. This study aimed to (1) identify associations between dialysis status and perioperative complications after ACDF, (2) quantify differences in length of stay (LOS), hospitalization costs, and discharge disposition, and (3) provide a contemporary national benchmark for outcomes in this high-risk population. Materials and Methods: The 2016–2022 National Inpatient Sample was queried for adult elective ACDF cases. Dialysis dependence was identified through International Classification of Diseases-10 codes for end-stage renal disease with hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis. Demographics, comorbidities, complications, LOS, costs, and discharge …
