Perioperative Benefits Of Dexmedetomidine As An Antiarrhythmic Agent In Noncardiac Surgical Patients: A Case Report, Sara Jaison, Kusuma Halemani

Dexmedetomidine (DEX), a selective α2-adrenergic receptor agonist, has gained recognition for its sedative, anxiolytic, and sympatholytic properties, making it a valuable perioperative agent. This report describes the anaesthetic management of an elderly 75-year-old male patient with septic shock, multi-organ dysfunction, delirium and significant ventricular arrhythmias who presented in 2025 to a tertiary care teaching hospital in Oman and was scheduled for an emergency below-knee amputation. DEX was utilised for intraoperative sedation and its antiarrhythmic effects. Traditional sedatives often exacerbate delirium or pose cardiorespiratory risks; however, DEX provides effective sedation while preserving respiratory function and promoting haemodynamic stability. In the phase 3 AGILE study, after a 12.4-month median follow-up, ivosidenib, a mutant isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) inhibitor, combined with azacitidine significantly improved event-free survival, overall survival (OS), and complete remission rates compared with placebo-azacitidine in patients with newly diagnosed IDH1-mutated acute myeloid leukemia (AML), who were unfit for intensive chemotherapy. This post hoc analysis reports long-term follow-up results from AGILE after a median follow-up of 28.6 months. Overall, 148 patients were randomized to receive ivosidenib-azacitidine (n = 73) or placebo-azacitidine (n = 75). Background/Objectives: Gene rearrangements involving oncogenes are major drivers in acute leukemia, influencing disease classification, prognosis, and therapeutic decision-making. Targeted RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) panels capable of detecting intergenic and intragenic fusions across multiple genes are increasingly used in diagnostic settings. However, comparative evaluation with orthogonal technologies remains limited.

Material and Methods: We compared the performance of a 108-gene anchored multiplex PCR (AMP)-based RNA-Seq panel with that of Optical Genome Mapping (OGM) in 467 acute leukemia cases. Background: Parenting practices contribute to children’s eating and physical activity behaviors, and thereby their risk of obesity and associated medical conditions. Fathers may engage in different parenting practices than mothers. The objective of this study was therefore to establish psychometrically sound tools in English and Spanish for measuring Physical Activity Parenting Practices (PAPP) and Food Parenting Practices (FPP) for Hispanic and non-Hispanic fathers of diverse races for use in future studies, such as evaluations of family-based obesity interventions targeted at fathers.

We conducted a post hoc analysis of data from Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network 1506 (MORPHO), a randomized trial of gilteritinib vs placebo as posttransplantation maintenance for patients with FLT3-ITD-mutated acute myeloid leukemia (AML) undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT), focusing the interactions between conditioning regimen intensity, measurable residual disease (MRD), and NPM1 comutation status reported from diagnosis. Comparing FLT3-ITD MRD before and after conditioning, there was no difference between myeloablative conditioning (MAC) and reduced-intensity conditioning (RIC) in eradication or reduction of FLT3-ITD MRD. There were different perspectives of stylistic discrimination in the study of ci rhyme in the Ming and Qing dynasties. From the mid-Ming to the mid-Qing, the objects of differentiation included metrical poetry, qu-poetry or yuefu poetry. Scholars often employed techniques of breaking styles and linking them to other forms, showcasing a blend of differentiation and integration.
