Numerical Solutions Of Poisson Problem By Using Finite Element Method Based On Linear, Quadratic, And Cubic Polynomials, Ali Kamil Al-Abadi, Shurooq Kamel Abd
Baghdad Science Journal
The finite element approach, which uses linear, quadratic, and cubic polynomials, can solve the elliptic form of the Poisson equation. This allows the method to provide a solution to the Poisson problem. This possibility arises from the structure within which the method operates. This work aims to provide an analysis of the technique in question and demonstrate its potential for applications in both square and circular dimensions. In conducting this investigation, a direct solution of the system of linear equations was used. Obtaining optimal error estimates in the L2 and H1 norms is possible for us if we …

Journal of Electrochemistry
Solid-state lithium batteries have become a research hotspot in the field of large-scale energy storage due to their excellent safety performance. The development of high-voltage positive electrode materials matched with lithium metal anode have advanced the energy density of solid-state lithium batteries close to or even exceeding that of lithium batteries based on a liquid electrolyte, which is expected to be commercialized in the future. However, in high voltage conditions (> 4.3 V), the decomposition of electrolyte components, structural degradation, and interface side reactions significantly reduce battery performance and hinder its further development. This review summarizes the latest research progress …

Since the first approval of tisagenlecleucel in 2017, pediatric and young adult patients with relapsed/refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) may receive this CD19-directed chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy. We report real-world data from the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (>2.5 years of follow-up). As of 4 May 2022, 768 patients with B-ALL had received tisagenlecleucel. Patients aged ≥18 and < 18 years of age (including those < 3 years) were treated during first relapse (26.6% and 26.7% [< 3 years, 44.8%], respectively) or primary refractory disease (12.4% and 12.1% [< 3 years, 15.5%], respectively) with 17.6% and 11.6% (< 3 years, 13.8%), respectively, having high disease burden (≥50% bone marrow [BM] blasts) and 20.2% and 20.2% (< 3 years, 13.8%), respectively, having low disease burden (>0 to < 5% BM blasts). Among patients with ≥12 months postinfusion follow-up (n = 578; median follow-up, 32.1 months), the best overall response of complete remission/complete remission with incomplete blood count recovery was 86.0%. The 12-month relapse-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) were 61.8% and 79.4%, respectively, whereas the 24-month RFS and OS were 50.3% and 63.8%, respectively. Age (< 18 years) and disease burden (< 50% BM blasts) were associated with better outcomes. Previous inotuzumab therapy and KMT2A rearrangement were associated with worse outcomes. Older patients (≥18 years) experienced a higher rate of any-grade cytokine release syndrome (CRS) associated with higher disease burden before infusion. Any-grade CRS and neurotoxicity were lower in patients aged < 3 years. Extended follow-up continues to demonstrate high rates of RFS and favorable safety in this population.

Migration And U.S. Labor Market Effects Of The Mexican Drug War, Mark Borgschulte, Yuci Chen, Eduardo Medina-Cortina
Upjohn Institute Working Papers
We estimate the effect of the Mexican drug war on Mexico-to-U.S. migration and the resulting effects on population, employment, and wages in U.S. labor markets. Our empirical strategy compares U.S. counties differentially connected to Mexican municipalities through historical migration networks, using drug violence triggered by close municipal elections in 2007–2008 as a source of exogenous variation. Over the following decade, migrants fleeing the violence—the vast majority of whom are undocumented—cause native-born U.S. workers’ employment rates to increase and unemployment rates to fall, while wages do not change. Employment gains are largest for natives without a college degree. Employment effects fade …

Complexity Measures For Self-Similar And Chemical Graphs Using Entropies And Generalized Fractal Dimensions, J. Bhuvaneswari, D. Easwaramoorthy
Baghdad Science Journal
Nonlinear analysis finds numerous applications in understanding the intricate characteristics of generalized Sierpinski graphs or chemical graphs. It aids in discerning the fractal patterns inherent in self-similar structures, deciphering the dynamic interactions within chemical bonds, and assessing the complexity of molecular arrangements. Furthermore, it plays a crucial role in unraveling the emergent behaviors of complex systems, offering insights applicable to diverse fields such as materials science, chemistry, biology, network theory, and beyond. In this paper, the complexity of generalized Sierpinski graphs and chemical graphs is analyzed using fractal-based nonlinear measures computed iteratively. Nonlinear measures assess intricate relationships within graphs by …

On The Statistical Variation Of Γ-Covers Controlled By The Class Of Weight Functions, Parthiba Das, Jalal Hatem Hussein Al-Bayati, Prasenjit Bal
Baghdad Science Journal
In this study, the notion of the star operator and the class of weight functions defined on the entire natural number set ℕ have been used to develop a version of the statistical cover of a topological space. In this version of statistical γ-cover, the pace of statistical convergence is mostly controlled by the selected weight function. A map g defined as g:ℕ→[0,∞)such that limn→∞g(n)=∞ and limn→∞⁄ng(n)≠0is called a weight function. Relationships between several γ …

Design Of High-Performance Synchronous Reluctance Motor For Hybrid Electric Vehicle Application, Fred Loita, Jackson Justo
Design Of High-Performance Synchronous Reluctance Motor For Hybrid Electric Vehicle Application, Fred Loita, Jackson Justo
Tanzania Journal of Science
This paper presents the simulation-based design of a synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) coupled electromechanical system suitable for the hybrid electric vehicle. The study considers SynRM with a 75kW power rating with the capability to produce up to 125kW maximum power for the electric vehicle. The focus is mainly on rotor and stator design; the angles of the flux-barrier ends are considered to reduce the torque ripple due to the slot harmonics. Reluctance machines are indeed competitive for applications requiring high efficiency at low cost. However, it is a challenging task to find design solutions that ensure structural integrity of the …

With the widespread adoption of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), safety concerns associated with flammable organic electrolytes have become increasingly critical. Solid-state lithium batteries (SSLBs), with enhanced safety and higher energy density potential, are regarded as a promising next-generation energy storage technology. However, the practical application of solid-state electrolytes (SSEs) remains hindered by several challenges, including low Li+ ion conductivity, poor interfacial compatibility with electrodes, unfavorable mechanical properties and difficulties in scalable manufacturing. This review systematically examines recent progress in SSEs, including inorganic types (oxides, sulfides, halides), organic types (polymers, plastic crystals, poly(ionic liquids) (PILs)), and the emerging class of soft …
Dissecting The Intrinsic And Extrinsic Regulators Of Prostate Cancer Dormancy In The Bone Microenvironment, Mostafa M. Nasr
Dissecting The Intrinsic And Extrinsic Regulators Of Prostate Cancer Dormancy In The Bone Microenvironment, Mostafa M. Nasr
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Metastatic disease is the primary driver of cancer-related mortality. In prostate cancer (PCa), patient survival decreases dramatically once the disease spreads to distant organs, with over 80% of metastases occurring in the bone. This dissemination is often followed by a clinically silent period of tumor dormancy that can last for years, creating a critical reservoir of cells poised for lethal relapse. A significant barrier to understanding and targeting this dormant phase has been the lack of robust experimental models. This thesis first addresses this challenge by establishing a novel stress-induced model of PCa dormancy, validated across multiple murine and human …

Coastal boulder deposits provide vital information on extreme wave events. They are crucial for understanding storm and tsunami impacts on rocky coasts, and for understanding long-term hazard histories. But study of these deposits is still a young field, and growth in investigation has been rapid, without much contactbetween research groups. Therefore, inconsistencies in field data collection among different studies hinder crosssite comparisons and limit the applicability of findings across disciplines. This paper analyses field methodologiesfor coastal boulder deposit measurement based using an integrated database (ISROC-DB), and demonstrates inconsistencies in current approaches. We use the analysis as a basis for outlining …
