The high risk, high reward possibilities of special operations forces (SOF) drone operations displayed itself in spectacular fashion on June 1, 2025, as SOF and conventional Ukrainian forces attacked four Russian air bases. Ukraine executed this unconventional operation deep in Russian territory with small, low altitude drones, hidden and launched remotely from trucks, causing an estimated $7 billion in damage and forcing Russia to retrograde high-value assets to more distant bases, changing the operational picture. Family planning is crucial in improving maternal and child health, reducing fertility rates and promoting gender equity. Despite global advancements in contraceptive access, disparities persist across the League of Arab States due to sociocultural, economic and policy barriers. Understanding the effectiveness of existing family planning interventions in this region is essential for addressing unmet needs and guiding policy improvements. Novice nurses often lack cardiac arrest training, jeopardizing patient outcomes and staff confidence. This pilot project addressed gaps in CPR preparedness, early recognition, timely response, and confidence among nurse residents. The goal was to develop, implement, and evaluate a competency-based code blue simulation to strengthen the residents’ knowledge and skills. Professional Development Specialists will learn strategies for integrating a code blue simulation experience into a nurse residency curriculum to enhance patient safety.

Advancements in robotics and computer vision are transforming how infrastructure is monitored and maintained. This paper presents a novel, fully automated pipeline for pavement condition assessment that integrates real-time image analysis with PCI (Pavement Condition Index) computation, which is specifically designed for deployment on mobile and robotic platforms. Unlike traditional methods that rely on costly equipment or manual input, the proposed system uses deep learning-based object detection and ensemble segmentation to identify and measure multiple types of road distress directly from 2D imagery, including surface weathering, a key precursor to pothole formation often overlooked in previous studies. Homelessness Research & Action Collaborative Publications and Presentations

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires continuums of care (CoC) across the country to routinely count people experiencing homelessness. This count, called the Point in Time Count (PITC), enumerates the number and characteristics of people who are experiencing homelessness on a single night in January. As a result, the count provides a snapshot of homelessness within a CoC. In the Portland metropolitan region, Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington counties administer their respective CoCs. These, referred to as the tri-counties in this report, are responsible for submitting PITC data every year.

As AI reshapes operations across aviation and aerospace, organizations are investing in ways to preserve data integrity, safeguard proprietary knowledge, and uphold critical professional competencies. This presentation shares emerging findings from a study that surveys and interviews industry professionals about their use of AI tools, their concerns about misuse, and the importance of secure, enterprise-controlled “walled garden” environments. The work explores how employers define appropriate, effective, and innovative AI adoption, particularly in roles requiring high-stakes decision-making, compliance, and technical acumen.

In the standard picture of fully developed turbulence, highly intermittent hydrodynamic fields are nonlinearly coupled across scales, where local energy cascades from large scales into dissipative vortices and large density gradients. Microscopically, however, constituent fluid molecules are in constant thermal (Brownian) motion, but the role of molecular fluctuations in large-scale turbulence is largely unknown, and with rare exceptions, it has historically been considered irrelevant at scales larger than the molecular mean free path. Recent theoretical and computational investigations have shown that molecular fluctuations can impact energy cascade at Kolmogorov length scales. The rapid expansion of artificial intelligence is driving a sharp increase in U.S. electricity demand, with AI-driven data centers emerging as a central contributor through 2030. This paper asks how U.S. AI data centers can meet projected electricity needs while simultaneously reducing carbon emissions. Using a supply-chain and systems perspective, it analyzes the full energy chain of AI data centers: upstream electricity supply and grid deliverability, midstream facility design and grid interaction, and downstream operational practices, waste management, and disclosure.
