BACKGROUND: The field of implementation research has recently seen much interest in equity, with a strong emphasis on recognising and responding to disparities in care. Recent studies highlight the role of macro-level processes that translate meso-level institutional behaviours to micro-level healthcare practices, and that are generative of health and care inequities. They emphasise challenges patient-centredness and underscore the need for justice-oriented intervention design to address disparities and promote equitable care.

AIM: To develop a patient-centred and justice-informed approach to the design of complex healthcare interventions and innovations in service delivery.

This study examines the lexical density and readability of reading passages in the “English for Nusantara” textbook used by eighth-grade students. Background: Fam-trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd) is an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) that targets human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) and delivers a topoisomerase inhibitor payload. T-DXd has been effectively used to treat metastatic breast cancer but causes pneumonitis in 10–15% of cases. Risk factors associated with T-DXd pneumonitis are not well described.

Research question: What are the major clinical risk factors for T-DXd pneumonitis?

Studying the kinetics of metabolic pathways, such as glycolysis and glutaminolysis, is valuable due to their fundamental links to various diseases, including cancer. This study explores the potential of Attenuated Total Reflectance-Fourier Transform Infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy for analysing low concentrations of metabolites in extracellular media. It also evaluates the use of the Multivariate Curve Resolution-Alternating Least Squares (MCR-ALS) method to data mine the kinetic evolution of the spectroscopic signatures of the glycolysis metabolic pathway and to explore the impact of the presence of glutamine on it. Seeding spectral datasets by augmenting the data matrix with either the full spectrum or selected spectral features in order to bias multivariate analysis towards the solution of interest is explored. It is demonstrated that such seeding can have a profound effect on the endpoint of the analysis. Using Raman spectroscopic data of human lung adenocarcinoma cells (A549) in vitro, systematic perturbations to the spectra are introduced to simulate dose dependent exposure to a drug (cisplatin), and/or cellular response, representing reduced viability. John R. Commons’ concept of the “menace of competition” is used to analyze how gambling industry regulations and laws are gradually changed in the last decades of the 20th Century, and this in turn helps the industry to grow and prosper throughout the US. This article traces an exploratory journey into the Papers of the University Librarian at the University of Virginia (UVA), shedding light on lesser-known aspects of Harry Clemons’ contributions beyond his tenure at UVA. A chance conversation led to a deeper investigation, which eventually developed into a research project. This article provides an overview of that research as well as reflections on the intellectual and emotional rewards of the exploration. It also touches on challenges in archival access and the importance of enhancing discoverability for future researchers.

Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) is a significant public health issue worldwide. Estimates from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicate that 25% of girls and 5% of boys have experienced sexual abuse (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2024). However, the CDC’s statistics only reflect criminal convictions of CSA cases. Notably, a 2011 meta-analysis comparing official CSA data from 217 studies with approximately 10 million self-reported samples revealed that prevalence rates could be as much as 30 times higher than official statistics suggest (Beier et al., 2024; Stoltenborgh et al., 2011). Failure to remove the currently in-use permanent implants may lead to problems such as infection, bone resorption, or stress concentration on the fixation locations. Magnesium and its alloys exhibit a biodegradable nature in aqueous environments, rendering them appealing for diverse biomedical applications where permanent existence in the body is not advisable.
