The rapid advancement of quantum computing represents both a revolutionary opportunity and an existential threat to contemporary cybersecurity infrastructure. While quantum computers promise unprecedented computational capabilities, they simultaneously pose a critical risk to current cryptographic protocols that protect sensitive data, financial systems, and national security frameworks. Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) standards, recently formalized by NIST in 2024, provide a roadmap for quantum-resistant encryption. However, a significant gap exists between technological advancement and educational preparedness, with most cybersecurity curricula failing to adequately prepare students for the quantum era. This paper addresses the urgent need for comprehensive quantum readiness in cybersecurity education across …

Pexidartinib (PEX, TURALIO®), a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, is approved for treating tenosynovial giant cell tumor in adults. However, its potential to cause fatal liver injury has prompted the U.S. FDA to issue a black box warning, and the mechanisms underlying its hepatotoxicity remain largely unknown. As biotransformation may contribute to PEX-induced hepatotoxicity, understanding its metabolism is essential. Our previous research indicated that PEX forms reactive metabolites in human and mouse liver microsomes and in human hepatocytes. We investigated PEX metabolism and liver distribution in mice with a focus on metabolite characterization. Our data shows that PEX is mainly excreted into …

Interpretable Machine Learning Frameworks For Detecting And Characterizing Adaptive Processes In Genomic Data, Md Ruhul Amin
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Detecting genomic regions influenced by adaptive processes is fundamental to understanding adaptation and its connection to modern human traits. Traditional summary-statistic and likelihood methods capture only simple evolutionary scenarios, while deep learning models such as convolutional neural networks, though powerful, often lose spatial information and lack interpretability. This dissertation introduces three complementary frameworks that overcome these limitations by integrating interpretable machine learning with spatially structured genomic data. The first framework, T-REx employs tensor decomposition to extract informative features from haplotype alignment images, enabling accurate classification of selective sweeps with classical learning models. The second framework, α-DAWG applies wavelet and curvelet …

ObjectiveThe rising incidence and mortality in bladder cancer (BC) underscore the importance of identifying asscociated features. Current reliance on haematuria as a primary indicator for BC proves inadequate. While mining electronic health records (EHRs) offer potential of identifying BC-related signals, traditional data-driven methods struggle with high-dimensional datasets. This study aims to uncover novel BC-associated clinical signals by developing Parsimony-driven cAtegory-balaNced binary Signal extractor for Primary Care EHRs (PanSPICE) tailored to extremely high-dimensional data linked from multi-centres.MethodsWe collected BC cases and control patients (n = 64,884) linked at patient-level from Welsh nationwide databases, yielding 48,261 features in primary care settings. Artificial light at night (ALAN) is a growing, globally prevalent environmental stressor. It is known to disrupt biological processes across taxa and biomes, including reproductive phenology in terrestrial plants, but its potential to alter reproductive timings in marine macroalgae remains unexplored. We used reflectance spectrometry to quantitatively assess changes in receptacle ripeness of three fucoid macroalgae species at four field sites along an ALAN gradient in Plymouth Sound, UK over a six-month period. At sites with elevated ALAN (measured using Sky Quality Meters, range 16.15–18.76 mag arcsec −2, equivalent to 3.75 × 10 −2–3.38 × 10 −3 cd/m …

The host microbiome is a promising source of probiotics for aquaculture species including Nile tilapia. In this study, the probiotic potential of autochthonous bacterial isolates from Nile tilapia and carp mid-intestines were screened in vitro. Two isolates (C61 and T70), closely related to Bacillus subtilis, exhibited antagonistic activity against multiple pathogen species and demonstrated multiple digestive enzyme activities. Their antagonistic activity in Aeromonas hydrophila assays remained even under simulated intestinal juice (SIJ) exposure. Subsequently, C61 (PT1) and T70 (PT2) were added to experimental diets at log 7 CFU/g of diet, and fed to Nile tilapia (5.32 ± 0.12 g) for …

Genomic studies of neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) have identified several relevant genomic variants. EBF3 is a gene with an excess of protein-coding de novo variants and underlies Hypotonia, Ataxia, and Delayed Development Syndrome. We previously identified noncoding de novo variants in an enhancer of EBF3 and further found enrichment of deletions of this enhancer in NDDs. In this study, we generated a novel mouse line that deletes the highly conserved, orthologous mouse region within the Rr169617 regulatory region, and characterized the molecular and phenotypic aspects of this mouse model. We found a deviation from Mendelian expectation (P=0.02) with significant depletion of …

Background
Recurrent and spontaneous seizures are a symptom of the epilepsy. It affects up to 65 million individuals globally, with lower-income nations accounting for 80% of cases. Since medicinal plants have special therapeutic qualities, they are frequently used to manage and cure epilepsy and convulsions. Because they have fewer side effects and stronger therapeutic results, medicinal plants are becoming more and more popular worldwide as a result of increased research and clinical use. The pharmaceutical industry is now concentrating heavily on the creation of novel plant-based antiepileptic/anticonvulsant drugs
Aims of the study:
Study the role of coriander sativum extraction in …
Torts And Pesticide Drift: Amending Right-To-Farm Acts In The Wake Of Widespread Dicamba Drift By Nicholas Brown** And Matt Roessing*
Journal of Legal Studies in Business
When crops die in a field prior to harvest, a farmer loses a portion of his salary for that year. When the cause of the crop loss is natural, farmers can usually seek compensation through crop insurance and government commodity support programs. When the crops were lost as a result of pesticide drift, these forms of compensation are not usually available to farmers.1 In order to make up for their losses, farmers can seek damages through judicial redress. For many decades, various state and federal laws have combined to complicate and at times prevent farmers adversely affected by pesticide drift …
