The tricky part about trying to distill James Moffett’s basic principles is that there are so many of them. In literature, the “major” poets are separated form the “minor” for a number of reasons, but one critical criteria is development; major poets have to develop across the span of their careers, either writing in new forms, or about and with new ideas or themes. This project aims to strengthen Gallup’s survey data preprocessing by integrating machine learning methods to detect inconsistent responses, complementing existing rule-based checks. The study benchmarks techniques such as Isolation Forest, clustering-based outlier scores, and autoencoders against current approaches to spot inconsistencies more efficiently and with reduced manual effort.

We will evaluate models using a dataset of survey responses previously flagged for inconsistency by Gallup, focusing on accuracy, coverage, and efficiency validated through expert review. The goal is to automate response classification into pass, review, or fail stages, aiming to reduce manual review time by about 25%, or 15 hours weekly, …

Background Telehealth and virtual supervision practices in health professions clinical education has grown rapidly, including in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) which oversees the largest interprofessional training effort in the United States. Telehealth is the provision of healthcare that is provided remotely through telecommunication technology, and virtual supervision is clinical supervision of health professions trainees (HPTs) that occurs through telecommunication technology. In this study we evaluate participation in telehealth and virtual supervision for physician, nursing, and associated health HPTs, and describe prevalent themes concerning HPT perceptions of telehealth and virtual supervision. Predicting the effects of climate change on plant and animal populations is an urgent challenge for understanding the fate of biodiversity under global change. At the surface, quantifying how climate drives the vital rates that underlie population dynamics appears simple, yet many decisions are required to connect climate to demographic data. Although discourse analysis has been receiving growing interest among aphasia researchers and speech-language pathologists (SLPs), several key challenges, such as limited time, insufficient training, and a lack of accessible tools, preclude its practical application in clinical settings. To address these barriers, we developed and evaluated a clinical training program for Auditory-Perceptual Rating of Connected Speech in Aphasia (APROCSA; Casilio et al., 2019), a time-efficient and psychometrically robust transcriptionless system for quantifying a range of speech-language impairment features.

This quality improvement (QI) project examined the impact of structured debriefing training on nursing faculty perceptions of confidence, competence, and skill in simulation-based education (SBE) at a northeast Texas community college. The problem addressed was the lack of a standardized debriefing process, leading to inconsistent faculty practices and variable student learning outcomes. Shared decision-making (SDM) is the best practice in contraceptive counseling, yet it remains underutilized in primary care, particularly within underserved communities. Limited SDM use reduces patient autonomy, weakens satisfaction, and contributes to inconsistent documentation. This quality improvement (QI) project aimed to evaluate whether an educational intervention on SDM for contraceptive counseling improved provider self-efficacy and the electronic medical record (EMR) documentation of SDM practices. Guided by Bandura’s Social Cognitive Theory and Lewin’s Change Management Model, the project sought to enhance provider confidence and foster sustainable behavioral change. Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) is evidence-based models that promote early detection and care. Integrating SBIRT into Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) curricula prepares future providers to address substance use in primary care. Local Problem: Despite the effectiveness of SBIRT, its use in primary care remains inconsistent. This thesis applies the metaphysics of philosopher Gilles Deleuze to Cormac McCarthy’s novel Blood Meridian, arguing that the novel initiates a thread of immanent subjectivity that unfolds throughout the Border Trilogy that follows it. Against a hierarchical metaphysics of transcendence, specifically an inverted Platonic Idealism, Blood Meridian dramatizes an immanent world of “optical democracy,” a prose style that levels the human and nonhuman and eludes subject and object categories. The kid’s autonomy from Judge Holden’s violent domination marks the truncated beginning of a Deleuzian subjectivity of becoming-other and immanent kinship. This incomplete gesture continues in the Border Trilogy, where …

Chapter 1 contextualizes the album and its related media, including music videos, additional album releases, a short film, and interviews with insights from Grande. The Upper Jurassic Clarksville Formation in northern Texas and southern Oklahoma is a productive but poorly understood sandstone–conglomerate unit with unresolved questions regarding its depositional environment and sediment provenance. This study evaluates the depositional setting, spatial distribution, and diagenetic controls of the Clarksville Formation using integrated core and well log analyses in Red River County, Texas. Three cores (Lennox Unit #1, Reeder Oil Unit #2, and Reeder Oil Unit #7) were analyzed for lithology, mineralogy, porosity, permeability, and fluid saturation, and correlated with 137 well logs to map formation thickness and regional trends.

Glycosphingolipids (GSLs) are a type of membrane-lipids commonly found in eukaryotes, as well as in bacteria from the order Sphingomonadales. In these bacteria, GSLs replace lipopolysaccharides as key structural and functional components of the outer membrane. These molecules play a crucial role in maintaining membrane integrity and helping bacteria adapt to environmental stresses. Additionally, they hold significant potential in biomedical research due to their ability to modulate the immune response through interactions with the CD1d receptor. In the first essay, we analyze how dark pool trading changes surrounding one of the largest corporate informational events, mergers and acquisitions. Alfarhoud, Bowe, and Zhang (2021) and Ye and Zhu (2020) suggest that the ability to hide trading is most valuable when the cost of information leakage is high. Since recent studies (e.g. Brolley, 2020; Ye and Zhu, 2020) find detrimental effects of dark pool trading on market quality, we expect that trading surrounding mergers and acquisitions will be opportunistic. Background: The immature lungs of very preterm infants are exposed to supraphysiologic oxygen, contributing to bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), a chronic lung disease that is the most common morbidity of prematurity. While the microbiota significantly influences neonatal health, the relationship between the intestinal microbiome, particularly micro-eukaryotic members such as fungi and yeast, and lung injury severity in newborns remains unknown. Results: Here, we show that the fungal microbiota modulates hyperoxia-induced lung injury severity in very low birth weight premature infants and preclinical pseudohumanized and altered fungal colonization mouse models. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA, 2004) entitles parents of eligible students with disabilities to meaningful participation in their children’s educational planning. Despite this mandate, many parents encountered barriers that limited their ability to participate in special education processes. These challenges were amplified for culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) families who often lacked the social and cultural capital needed to navigate the system (Trainor, 2010b).
