The issue of indirect copyright liability has been debated for many years, particularly with the rise of technological advancements like cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI). China has frequently revised its laws and regulations to address copyright–related cases, often drawing from the experience of the common law system. However, this has sparked stakeholder disagreement on implementing filtering obligations for online services, raising the duty of care for online intermediaries, and whether safe harbor rules are still relevant.

Scientists provide important information to the public. Whether that information influences decision-making depends on trust. In the USA, gaps in trust in scientists have been stable for 50 years: women, Black people, rural residents, religious people, less educated people and people with lower economic status express less trust than their counterparts (who are more represented among scientists). Here the authors probe the factors that influence trust. They find that members of the less trusting groups exhibit greater trust in scientists who share their characteristics (for example, women trust women scientists more than men scientists). In this study, we developed multifunctional nanoparticles based on polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers functionalized with caffeic acid (CA) and poly (ethylene glycol) maleimide (PEGM) for the topical delivery of hydrophobic antiglaucoma drugs brimonidine (BM) and betaxolol (BX). The PAMAM-CA and PAMAM-CA-PEGM conjugates exhibited antioxidant and iron-chelating activities in a dose-dependent manner. BM- and BX-loaded dendrimer nanoparticles produced using a multi-inlet vortex mixer showed uniform spherical morphology (∼80 nm by TEM) and hydrated sizes of ∼135-144 nm by DLS. Both nano formulations demonstrated high cytocompatibility with human corneal epithelial cells and were nonirritant in the HET-CAM assay, with PEGM further improving cytocompatibility. …

Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a rare neutrophilic dermatosis usually linked to autoimmune or inflammatory bowel disease and typically affects the lower extremities. This case is notable for extensive upper-body, oropharyngeal, and nasal involvement in a patient without an underlying autoimmune disorder. A 56-year-old man with chronic cocaine use and stage IV renal cell carcinoma presented with rapidly progressive ulcerations of the face, neck, shoulders, and back, along with nasal septal collapse and oropharyngeal destruction. Prior biopsy demonstrated sterile neutrophilic inflammation without vasculitis, infection, or malignant infiltration, supporting PG as a diagnosis of exclusion. This thesis investigates the potential of moisture pathways and cracks in heritage buildings, long regarded as structural weaknesses, as advantageous passive design elements. The study addresses the issue of improving the energy efficiency of heritage buildings, particularly in tropical monsoon climates with high humidity and fluctuating temperatures. With an empirical experiment in an environmental chamber using a prototype wall, the study assesses the effect of artificially created cracks on indoor temperature and humidity control. The results indicate that although cracks enable thermal exchange, resulting in reduced indoor temperature stability, they also enable necessary air and moisture movement. Accumulation of anthropogenic debris (AD) in the environment, especially plastic, is a pervasive issue that impacts human communities and ecosystems worldwide. Since AD pollution at every scale stems from human activities, its mitigation is contingent on analyzing and modifying the scale-dependent drivers of human behavior surrounding this issue. Although the underlying mechanisms driving litter input and accumulation are not well understood, these patterns suggest a need for hyperlocal solutions. Because environmental education (EE) fosters a significant influence on environmental knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors, it can play an important role in the mitigation of debris input and littering behavior. Investigation of the kinetics and mechanistic modelling of biodiesel synthesis through the reaction of castor oil with methanol under catalyzed conditions was carried out in this study. The reaction mechanisms of the Eley-Rideal, Langmuir-Hinshelwood-Hougen-Watson, and Hattori type were employed to identify the rate-determining or controlling step of the reaction. Thirteen rate expressions were developed for reactant adsorption, product desorption, and surface chemical reactions. The experimental data from Sanchez-Cantu et al. were used to validate the models, and the best-fitting model and parameter estimation were evaluated using SAS and MATLAB software. The Securities and Exchange Commission’s Investor Advisory Committee (IAC) Friday (Dec. 5) approved new recommendations urging public companies to provide clearer, more consistent information about how they use artificial intelligence. The recommendations passed with strong support: 14 votes in favor, two abstentions, and two against.

The proposal, drafted by Indiana University Maurer School of Law Professor Alvin Velazquez, responds to the rapid rise of AI across corporate America and widespread investor concern that current disclosures are confusing, inconsistent, or overly promotional.

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. It is highly preventable through routine screening and early detection, yet national data indicate that one in three eligible adults remains unscreened. The purpose of this Quality Improvement (QI) project was to increase colon cancer screening completion rates by implementing a patient navigation program. Kristen Swanson’s Theory of Caring guided the intervention by promoting patient-centered communication. W. Edwards Deming’s Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) model provided the framework for this approach.
