The Consequences Of Fear: How Media Literacy Teachers Adapt To Teaching In An Autocratic Regime, Sait Tuzel Dec 2025

The Consequences Of Fear: How Media Literacy Teachers Adapt To Teaching In An Autocratic Regime, Sait Tuzel

Journal of Media Literacy Education Pre-Prints

While media literacy education experienced significant growth in Turkey during the early part of the decade, since the attempted coup on July 15, 2016, Turkish educators have struggled with uncertainty and social mistrust generated by the disappearance of independent journalism and the arrests of many thousands of educators, judges, and researchers. This longitudinal study of media literacy teachers in Turkey examines the professional challenges that media literacy teachers experienced between 2015 and 2020 as they adapted to increased fear and the risks associated with teaching about media. Unable to use media materials beyond the state-sanctioned textbook, teachers now evaluate the …

Purification Of Water By Plant Extracts And Green Biosynthesized Agnp Of Syzygium Aromaticum, Seham Abdel-Shafi, Mostafa I. Abdelglil, Saida Amer, Sobhy El Sawy Elsilk, Khaled Ali, Mohamed F Ghaly

Al-Farahidi Biomedical Journal

The drinking water quality must meet both the WHO guidelines and Egyptian standards. This ensures public health and the suitability of water for different uses. The purification of water by biosynthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) Syzygium aromaticum (Clove) is an eco-friendly approach where the clove extract acts as a reducing and stabilizing agent to create AgNPs through a “green synthesis” method. The AgNPs, when combined with the extract, show antimicrobial activities and kill the pathogenic bacteria in water. The water pollution include Staphylococcus, Pseudomonas, Salmonella, Acinetobacter, Flavobacterium, Clostridium, Vibrio and E. coli. In vitro experiments showed inhibition of Staphylococcus spp. …

Improving Road Safety Through Multimodal Deep Learning For Driver Drowsiness Detection, Hadel A. Hussain, Mohammed A. Subhi, Ahmed S. Al Tmeme, Ahmed D. Radhi, Marwan Ali Albahar

Iraqi Journal for Computer Science and Mathematics

One of the most common causes of road accidents globally is driver drowsiness and it needs solutions that are reliable and can be applicable in numerous real-life situations. We present this paper with the aim of developing a deep-learning system that is capable of reliably detecting drowsiness in diverse and varied conditions across different drivers, environments, and sensor types. Our system is known as Multimodal Attention Network (MMAN), which combines information of eye and head movement, heart-rate and breathing pattern, and vehicle-dynamics signal. MMAN has a gradient-reversal layer that enables the layer to be domain-adaptive such that it does not …

Deep Learning-Based Fog-Cloud Approach Intrusion Detection System In Iomt, Yahya Rbah, Mohammed Mahfoudi, Mohammed Fattah, Younes Balboul, Said Mazer, Moulhime Elbekkali

Iraqi Journal for Computer Science and Mathematics

The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) creates an interconnected environment linking humans, devices, sensors, and systems, enhancing healthcare services through advanced technologies. Nonetheless, these IoMT devices are susceptible to cyberattacks, which can endanger patient safety and healthcare services. To identify and mitigate cyberattacks in IoMT, techniques such as threat intelligence, log monitoring, and intrusion detection systems are employed. As attackers evolve their strategies, there is a growing trend towards leveraging artificial intelligence to achieve more predictive and accurate attack detection. Since IoMT devices are inherently low-power, they require minimal computing resources. Existing intrusion detection systems are generally trained in the …

Multitaskvenationnet: A Multi-Task Deep Neural Network With Strip Pooling And Hybrid Upsampling For Leaf Vein Segmentation, Ishak Ariawan, Ahmad Ashari, Moh. Edi Wibowo Dec 2025

Multitaskvenationnet: A Multi-Task Deep Neural Network With Strip Pooling And Hybrid Upsampling For Leaf Vein Segmentation, Ishak Ariawan, Ahmad Ashari, Moh. Edi Wibowo

Iraqi Journal for Computer Science and Mathematics

Leaf vein segmentation is a critical task in plant phenotyping and species classification, yet it remains challenging due to the hierarchical, curvilinear nature of veins and interference from complex backgrounds. Existing methods face three key limitations. First, they lack directional context modeling, leading to blurred vein boundaries and the omission of fine venation. Second, they fail to effectively capture global dependencies, limiting semantic coherence across spatial regions. Third, they do not incorporate explicit mechanisms for detecting vein discontinuities, which is essential for complete topological understanding. To address these challenges, we propose MultiTaskVenationNet (MTV-Net), a multi-task deep segmentation framework that integrates …

Optical Dynamic Hybrid Disaggregation System Using Micro-Led, N/A Dec 2025

Optical Dynamic Hybrid Disaggregation System Using Micro-Led, N/A

Defensive Publications Series

The present disclosure is directed to a flexible and resilient architecture for computer systems, focusing on optical hybrid disaggregation to manage heterogeneous computing resources. An approach utilizes overprovisioned optical connectivity, specifically leveraging high-density micro-LED technology, to establish a high-bandwidth, peer-to-peer communication fabric between modular units. By integrating silicon switching intelligence directly into the modular units, the approach can bypass the latency and contention issues associated with centralized fabrics. A dynamic software control plane may be utilized to manage a distributed network, enabling rapid reconfiguration to optimize the compute-to-memory ratio for specific workloads, thereby enhancing fungibility, improving power efficiency, and reducing …

Autonomous Causal Inference Using Artificial Intelligence Agents, Teginder Singh, Ramakrishnan Neelakandan, Bakul Patel, Justin Chen, Kiran Dattani, Sean Hamill, Jacob Van Bochove

Defensive Publications Series

Post-market drug-safety procedures, known as pharmacovigilance, require a team of skilled physicians or epidemiologists to manually investigate each adverse event. This disclosure describes artificial intelligence (AI) agent-based, cloud computing techniques that automate the end-to-end cognitive workflow of investigating potential adverse drug events (ADEs). Moving beyond current techniques, which only perform statistical signal detection, the described techniques enable the determination of biological causality. Upon receiving a statistical signal of an adverse event, plausible biological hypotheses that can explain the signal are autonomously generated. A set of specialized software agents are dispatched to forage for evidence across disparate data sources (real-world evidence …

A Content-Centric Discussion Platform, Nikolas Ojala Dec 2025

A Content-Centric Discussion Platform, Nikolas Ojala

Defensive Publications Series

Traditional linear, time-ordered discussion threads cause three deeply interconnected structural problems in online forums:

  1. sedimentation of valuable content (both inside threads and across the forum),
  2. thread hijacking / topic drift, and
  3. structural harassment through off-topic flooding.

These problems are not primarily caused by malicious users but are inevitable by-products of forcing all discussion into a single chronological pipe.

This article fully discloses a complete architectural solution: a content- centric, modular discussion platform (the “content-pool model”) in which every contribution is an independent, semantically linked unit equipped with structured metadata fields. By completely removing the linear thread and replacing it with …
