Background: Aggressive treatment with multimodal therapies such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy has improved survival in head and neck cancer (HNC) but at a human cost of a substantial symptom burden and impact on quality of life. We developed the NYU Electronic Patient Visit Assessment (ePVA)© for HNC as a digital patient-reported symptom monitoring system that enables early symptom detection and real-time interventions at the point of care. With this study protocol, we aim to test the effectiveness of the ePVA in improving HNC outcomes in real-world settings and to identify implementation strategies optimizing its effectiveness.

Inadequate interdisciplinary collaboration in end-of-life care can result in moral distress among nurses, reflecting conflicts between core nursing values and physician expectations. This quality improvement project seeks to reduce moral distress by enhancing collaboration between physicians and nurses in providing end-of-life care in a defined microsystem on the Transitional Care Unit (TCU). A pre-survey of registered nurses (RNs) revealed that moral distress occurs when caring for actively dying patients, regardless of their code status. Prolonged discharge patient encounter length of stay (LOS) in emergency departments (ED) contributes to overcrowding, delayed care, and increased costs. This Quality Improvement (QI) project was initiated at a community, 42-bed Emergency Department that services approximately 75,000 patients annually to address the baseline average discharge LOS of 294 minutes from January 2024 - August 2024. The organizational goal for these discharged patients sits at 165 minutes. The project’s aim was to reduce discharge LOS by implementing structured TeamSTEPPS (Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety) huddles to enhance communication, optimize patient flow, and improve throughput efficiency.

Introduction: Community nursing serves as an alternative healthcare model aimed to enhance access to care for patients who are Medicare beneficiaries in rural areas and have a chronic medical condition. Timely access to healthcare is essential to prevent frequent emergency department (ED) visits and hospitalization.

Background: Over 80% of Medicare beneficiaries manage at least one chronic illness while 68% manage two or more. Populations in rural areas face significant barriers to healthcare access including provider shortages and geographic isolation. Inaccurate triage decisions can also lead to increased length of patient stays in the emergency department, increased rehospitalizations, and increased risk of mortality, all of which are quality of care indicators. Anecdotal evidence from the emergency department leadership, however, suggests that inaccurate triaging decisions are being made. In addition, 60 percent of a limited sample of 30 charts that were recently reviewed contained inaccurate triaging decisions. The accuracy of these triaging decisions has not been systematically evaluated at our facility. Vincetoxicum villosum belongs to the Apocynaceae family. V. villosum is often used as a traditional medicine for treating jaundice, gallstones, kidney stones, hepatitis B, and liver diseases. This study aims to determine the metabolite profile and antioxidant activity of V. villosum to provide new information and serve as a reference for its safe use as a medicinal plant. The methods used to determine the metabolite profile involved GC-MS, and antioxidant activity was assessed using the DPPH method. A crucial step in this process is the nitration of isovanillic acid through nucleophilic aromatic substitution, resulting in 6-nitroisovanilic acid and its derivatives, which act as intermediates for forming a quinazolinone ring. It was fabricated using solution casting method by varying the curcumin content to determine its effect on the chemical, physical, mechanical and functional characteristics of the film. Arabic is a diglossic language in which standard Arabic coexists with diverse spoken varieties, posing distinct challenges for language acquisition and instruction. Understanding how this context shapes bib_meiseles_1980 educational outcomes is essential for improving Arabic language teaching and learning. Following PRISMA guidelines, we searched eight education and social science databases, and relevant grey literature (1970–2021), screening 927 Arabic and English records and including 101 studies. In today’s data-driven landscape, large volumes of data are generated continuously, often containing imperfections such as noise, missing data, or unreliable labeling. These real-world datasets are typically high-dimensional, sparsely labeled, and imbalanced, creating substantial challenges for both supervised and unsupervised learning. These challenges are especially prevalent in the task of anomaly detection, where instances belonging to the class of interest are rare and underrepresented compared to normal instances. Stripe rust, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici, continues to be a major challenge in soft red winter wheat (SRWW) production, especially in the southern United States. In this area, mild winters and wet springs frequently lead to early and severe disease outbreaks. Although many lines demonstrate resistance in a single season, that resistance often does not last across multiple years. For breeding programs, this variability makes it hard to identify truly reliable lines. Legal and extra-legal factors related to the development of international humanitarian law (IHL) support the exercise of strategic restraint during armed conflicts. We claim, however, that technological developments in the area of military artificial intelligence (AI) fundamentally do away with many of the technological constraints that limited the capacity of militaries to fully utilize the “license to kill” afforded to them by IHL. Such a violence-enhancing effect can become even more dramatic in cases where other restraining factors are less effective.
