Many assembled structures have bolted or riveted joints. Aside from providing a convenient method of assembly, mechanical joints have an important effect on the structure's dynamic response to its environment. Friction and microslip within the joints help to damp out unwanted vibration. However, the joints also introduce nonlinearity into the response. Most notably, the natural vibrational modes of the structure no longer have constant natural frequencies and damping ratios. Rather, they shift as a function of vibration amplitude. PURPOSE: Clinical risk grouping based on PSA, tumor grade, and disease extent guides treatment intensity for localized prostate cancer. However, many patients with intermediate- or high-risk disease treated with external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) and androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) still develop biochemical recurrence (BCR). Early identification of patients at high risk for BCR could enable personalized treatment strategies.

EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN: We prospectively enrolled 29 patients with intermediate- or high-risk prostate cancer undergoing EBRT and ADT. Pretreatment biopsies (n = 60) underwent whole-transcriptome microarray and whole-exome sequencing. The compactness theorem for first-order logic says that for a set of first-order sen-tences to be satisfiable, it’s enough for every finite subset to be satisfiable. We’ll see how the compactness theorem arises from two methods of model construction: first by ultraproducts, and second by Henkin’s method of constructing models from constant symbols. We’ll explore several representative applications of compactness, such as how it can be used to demonstrate that a property is not expressible, establishing limitations on first-order expressibility. [Objective ] This study aims to address the technical problems of insufficient nitrogen content and an imbalanced amino acid composition in very high gravity wort produced with high-level syrup adjuncts.[Method ] This study investigated the effect of protease-assisted saccharification on wort protein composition.Then,a comprehensive evaluation was conducted on the brewing performance during 22 ° P very high gravity beer production.[Result ] During the proteolysis stage of saccharification,a synergistic addition of neutral protease and flavourzyme protease at a mass ratio of 6∶4 enabled efficient directed hydrolysis of malt proteins.In the wort,the α-amino nitrogen mass concentration was increased by 30%,while the mass …

[Objective ] This study aimed to investigate the impact of curcumin-loaded ovalbumin (OVA )-carboxymethylcellulose (CMC ) (OVA -CMC-Cur ) colloidal particles on the stability of fish oil emulsions.[Method ] The OVA -CMC-Cur colloidal particles were prepared with OVA and CMC at varying mass ratios and pH.The colloidal particles were then used as the stabilizer to prepare fish oil emulsions.The structural characteristics,stability,and digestive behaviors of the emulsions were investigated.[Result ] At the OVA -CMC mass ratio of 2∶1,the OVA -CMC-Cur particle-stabilized fish oil emulsions exhibited smaller particle sizes.These particles formed a dense,compact interfacial film at the oil-water interface,resulting in more uniform …

Parkinson disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease, characterized by gait and balance impairments that reduce independence and diminish quality of life. Exercise and other rehabilitation strategies, such as rhythmic auditory cueing, are well-researched methods to address motor impairments. However, despite the strong body of research supporting these approaches, many individuals with PD remain sedentary and do not meet current exercise recommendations. This highlights a critical gap between evidence and real-world behavior.

Often regarded as a symbol of radical white supremacist ideology, the Klan is widely associated with the American South; its white hoods, burning crosses, and Confederate flags have become enduring emblems of racial hatred and extremist nationalism. Seizures are caused by abnormal synchronous brain activity. The resulting changes in muscle tone, such as twitching, stiffness, or jerking, are used in visual scoring systems such as the Racine scale to quantify seizure intensity. However, visual inspection is time consuming, low throughput, and partially subjective, and there is a need for scalable and rigorous quantitative approaches. We used supervised machine learning approaches to develop automated classifiers to predict seizure severity directly from non-invasive video data. Retinal ganglion cell (RGC) death is a critical component of glaucoma pathology. The degenerative signaling pathways that lead to RGC death in glaucoma are incompletely defined. Recently, the transcription factors JUN and DDIT3 were identified as critical hubs regulating RGC somal loss after mechanical axonal injury. However, their position within the degenerative cascade remains unclear. One possibility is that JUN and DDIT3 activity in the soma initiates signaling events that trigger axonal degeneration. Alternatively, JUN and DDIT3 may function downstream of the primary insult, acting specifically to mediate somal degeneration without influencing axonal pathology. Assessing The Relationship Between Treatment Quality, Matching And Dosage And Juvenile Justice Outcomes Among Youth With Co-Occurring Substance Abuse And Mental Health Disorders, Kevin T. Wolff, Michael T. Baglivio, Joshua A. Lang

This study examined differences among youth in deep-end juvenile justice residential placement who did, and did not, present with co-occurring disorders. The prevalence of cooccurring mental health and substance use/abuse issues was found to be 19%, far lower than that of prior work. Researchers demonstrated more similarities than differences between youth with and without co-occurring disorders, both in terms of their criminal histories and the prevalence of their criminogenic needs. Additionally, the residential programs across Florida appear to provide treatment at similarly high levels of integrity, as measured by 1) matching treatment services to the highest three dynamic risk assessed …

Up to 65% of veterans deployed in combat or returning from combat regions such as Afghanistan and Iraq meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis, yet up to 50% do not receive specialized mental health treatment. On October 17, 2020, the United States government passed legislation to increase and improve mental health services for veterans. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) agreed to submit a plan that bolsters the mental health workforce in its facilities by recruiting licensed professional mental health counselors (LPMHCs). Chimeric Antigen Receptor T (CAR-T) cell therapy has emerged as a revolutionary treatment modality for hematologic malignancies, including acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). This innovative approach involves the genetic engineering of a patient's own T lymphocytes to express chimeric antigen receptors (CARs), which enables these cells to specifically recognize and eliminate malignant cells expressing target antigens.
