This assignment examines bias and stereotyping in AI image generation systems while teaching students the conventions of scientific genre writing through a formal lab report. Working in interdisciplinary groups, students generate image datasets using gender-neutral professional terms and analyze representations of gender, race, and age. Findings are compared with real-world labor demographics to assess discrepancies between AI outputs and existing data. Through close reading, students practice core skills of literary and rhetorical analysis while engaging contemporary digital systems. This paper, the first in a two-part study on homelessness in developing countries, explores the causes of homelessness in countries with significant populations living in poverty. This instalment focuses primarily on homelessness in India. The country’s diversity in terms of culture and religion is reflected in challenges when approaching issues related to homelessness. We highlight governmental initiatives to combat homelessness and provide impoverished people and families with access to essential services. A qualitative research method was used. Environmental-based diseases are often found in environments with poor sanitation and low personal hygiene, including in Lembaga Pembinaan Khusus Anak (LPKA). This study aims to examine the relationship between personal hygiene, environmental sanitation conditions, and housing density with the incidence of environmentally based diseases among the residents of LPKA Kelas II Jakarta. This research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 31 participants selected using a total sampling technique. However, the national policy discourse among the stakeholders tended to overlook evidence when the literature review identified a gap. We show that every locally integral involutive partially ordered semigroup (ipo-semigroup) A=(A,≤,⋅,∼,−), and in particular every locally integral involutive semiring, decomposes in a unique way into a family {Ap:p∈A+} of integral ipo-monoids, which we call its integral components. In the semiring case, the integral components are unital semirings. Moreover, we show that there is a family of monoid homomorphisms Φ={φpq:Ap→Aq:p≤q}, indexed over the positive cone (A+,≤), so that the structure of A can be recovered as a glueing ∫ΦAp of its integral components along Φ. Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping both sport management and environmental science, yet these developments have largely evolved in parallel. AI can serve not merely as a technical tool but also as a catalyst for systemic sport ecology, a field that integrates sport, digital innovation and environmental sustainability. Sport represents humanity’s largest-scale emotion laboratory where intense competitive emotions are practiced within safe boundaries through collective participation. As artificial intelligence evolves to systematize virtual and digital experiences, sport's irreplaceable embodied practice of collective participation becomes more apparent, not less. This conceptual paper demonstrates how artificial intelligence can optimize emotional learning from large-scale sport experiences while highlighting, rather than replacing, their unique human development value. Underwater images often suffer from severe color distortion, low contrast, and reduced visibility, motivating the widespread use of image enhancement as a preprocessing step for downstream computer vision tasks. However, recent studies have questioned whether enhancement actually improves object detection performance. In this work, we conduct a comprehensive and rigorous evaluation of nine state-of-the-art enhancement methods and their interactions with modern object detectors. The trouble-free process of drilling wells largely depends on the effective cleaning of the borehole. The formation of a slurry regime at the bottom of the well leads to the process of repeated crushing of drilling fines, which in turn leads to a decrease in the mechanical drilling speed, to an increase in the energy consumption of the rock-crushing tool for repeated crushing, and also increases the risk of oil seals. The unsteady analysis of two-dimensional laminar flow of the non-Newtonian blood through an atherosclerotic artery in the presence of body acceleration, radiation effect and magnetic field has been studied. The blood flow has been assumed to satisfy the Herschel-Bulkley fluid model characteristics. The two- dimensional model equations have been developed from the physical laws of continuity, momentum and energy conservation. These equations are transformed to non-dimensional form and solved numerically using explicit finite difference method under suitable radial coordinate transformation. The study explored the potential of co-production of oyster mushroom Pleurotus HK-37 and biogas from palm oil waste fractions to add value and mitigate environmental impact. Nine different blends of waste fractions were subjected to mushroom production. The highest mushroom yield and biological efficiency were obtained from a blend that combined equal amounts of palm mesocarp fiber (PMF) and empty fruit bunch (EFB) waste fractions supplemented with 1% palm oil mill effluent (POME) and sediments (SD). The spent mushroom substrates (SMS) were used in biogas production, compared to fresh waste blends, biogas volume was higher across all but two treatments. …

This paper originates from an observation of the water crisis affecting Cikeusal. Recognizing water as an integral part of human rights, we pose the question: why does a water crisis occur in Cikeusal, despite water being recognized as a human right? In addressing this issue, we position water as a resource closely intertwined with political dynamics. Therefore, we employ a socio-legal approach, using autoethnography as the primary method for data collection. This study focused on optimizing gas metal arc welding (GMAW) parameters for AISI 1045 carbon steel to balance the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) and heat affected zone (HAZ) size of the weldment. Using a full factorial design of experiments (27 trials), the influence of welding current, arc voltage, and travel speed on UTS and HAZ size of AISI 1045 carbon steel weldments were investigated. From the analysis of results, using Analysis of variance (ANOVA) technique, the results revealed that current, travel speed and arc voltage contributed 74.41%, 19.05% and 0.04%, respectively, to the total percentage of variations on UTS data. …

Measurements of on-line tool wear and part dimensional accuracy in machining operations are not readily available in machining shop floor because they involve higher investment such that the decisions of tool wear and part quality for intermediate cutting passes cannot be justified. The article presents a comprehensive analytical approach to improving the operational efficiency of transport and technological machines (TTM) based on simulation modeling. The proposed model integrates the economic and reliability characteristics of maintenance (TM) strategies by describing the operation of aggregates, the probability of failures, and transitions between states — operational (W), faulty (F), and restored (R) — as probabilistic processes. Model parameters are identified using statistical data from real operating conditions and adapted to various types of technical systems. This study presents the first comprehensive techno-economic assessment of wind-based green hydrogen production across Senegal, a country highly dependent on fossil fuel imports. Using a novel integrated approach combining 30 years of ERA5 reanalysis data (1993–2023), turbine performance modeling and electrolyzer comparison, it fills an important gap for renewable hydrogen development in West Africa. Wind resources were analyzed at multiple altitudes, revealing strong potential in both coastal and northeastern regions, particularly during the dry season, with higher wind speeds at higher turbine heights. The Advanced Particle-astrophysics Telescope (APT) is a mission concept for a space-based gamma-ray telescope whose capabilities include prompt localization of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) to support multi-wavelength and multi-messenger astrophysics. ADAPT — APT's balloon-borne prototype — can localize GRBs in well under a second using on-board computing hardware. ADAPT will partner with ground-based, fast-slewing optical telescopes, rapidly providing alerts that enable the partner to observe a short-duration burst within a few seconds of detection. High-energy transient astrophysical phenomena, such as supernovae and binary neutron star mergers, benefit from a multi-wavelength investigation in which a space- or balloon-based omnidirectional telescope detects and localizes early high-energy emissions (such as a gamma-ray burst), then alerts a narrow-field follow-up instrument to observe the source. The high-energy telescope must provide a map that assigns to each sky location a likelihood that the source appears there. FPGAs are widely deployed on high-energy astrophysics telescopes to read out sensor data from front-end electronics. To support continuous data streams or high trigger rates, FPGA logic may be employed to process raw sensor readout values, reducing the volume of data transmitted, processed, and stored by downstream CPU-based computational platforms. Across instruments, these FPGA-based processing pipelines often have similar semantics and share common stages. However, diverse telescope designs require unique implementations of the constituent algorithms, and the logic is often rewritten from scratch for a new instrument. The APT mission is designed to improve sensitivity in the MeV-TeV gamma-ray range by an order of magnitude compared to current missions and is optimized for dark-matter and multimessenger research. The ADAPT instrument uses scintillating fibers for particle tracking and sodium-doped cesium iodide (CsI:Na) tiles read out with wavelength shifting (WLS) fibers for imaging, with solid-state silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs) for calorimetry.
