In this colloquium, we will present six years of collaborative research on approximations of practice in mathematics teacher education, exploring how these approximations shape teacher preparation and addressing issues of equity and authenticity in instructional design. Foci include past findings, current challenges, and future directions, drawing from the recently published book edited by the colloquium leaders: Promoting Equity in Approximations of Practice for Mathematics Teachers. Participants will engage in critical conversations on bridging research and practice, with opportunities to join ongoing collaborations.

Mathematics teachers have the power and responsibility to center equity in their teaching practices. Yet their framings and mindsets about equity can impact whether and how they use equitable teaching practices. In this manuscript, we describe how secondary mathematics teacher candidates responded to two equity vignettes focused on (1) gender identity and (2) race and tracking. We wrote these vignettes to expose candidates to situations they may encounter and decisions they may need to make as mathematics teachers. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type of liver cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. Liver transplantation is considered the definitive treatment for HCC; however, in Indonesia, adult liver transplantation is still rarely performed due to donor limitations and high costs. Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) has therefore become a preferred therapeutic option in the management of HCC. This report discuss about the survival and recurrence rates of HCC in patients treated with RFA compared with those undergoing liver transplantation. Nurses are the frontline of healthcare services and have faced increasing work pressure during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, nurse loyalty becomes a crucial factor for the sustainability of healthcare organizations. This study aims to analyze the influence of ethical leadership on employee loyalty by examining the mediating roles of psychological contract and work-family conflict. A total of 145 nurses participated in this study. Data were analyzed using a quantitative approach through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the assistance of Lisrel 8.80. This study examined how community-based practitioners implement public health interventions in practice settings to identify gaps between existing implementation frameworks and real-world practice. Six farmers' markets in Southeast Texas served as cases to understand implementation decision-making by community-based practitioners addressing food access challenges. A qualitative case study approach was employed, using semi-structured interviews with program adopters and key stakeholders to examine how practitioners addressed food access problems, selected interventions, and navigated implementation decisions. This methodology captured the contextual nature of implementation decision-making in community settings. Semi-supervised learning has emerged as a powerful paradigm for analyzing single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and spatial transcriptomics (ST) data, where full annotation is often costly or impractical. scRNA-seq technologies measure the expression of thousands of genes across tens of thousands of cells, whereas ST additionally captures the spatial coordinates of gene expression within intact tissue sections. Annotation is a key step in both scRNA-seq and ST analysis pipelines, aiming to identify cell types, spatial domains, and latent biological structures. However, academic research has largely examined textual features in isolation, overlooking how visual content and its interaction with text shape perceived helpfulness. This dissertation addresses that gap by developing and empirically validating a comprehensive framework capturing how textual, visual, and contextual features collectively influence review evaluation. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large family of chemicals that have seen wide usage due to their fluorinated carbon backbone. The presence of strong C-F bonds in the backbone lends PFAS molecules high thermal and chemical stability, as well as strong hydrophobicity and lipophobicity. This combination of properties has led to heavy use of PFAS as surfactants, non-stick coatings, and aqueous foam forming films and flame retardants. However, these properties bring their own consequences. The high chemical and thermal stability of PFAS renders them persistent, with the C-F bonds resisting naturally occurring forms of degradation. Even in solid materials, these random deformations, driven by ambient thermal energy, can become significant when their characteristic scale approaches that of the structure itself and strongly influence their overall mechanical behavior. Examples of such structures include crystalline membranes, appearing in diverse forms such as nanotubes, nanoribbons, and kirigami/origami structures. Single-cell and multi-omic technologies have transformed the dissection of cellular heterogeneity and regulatory dynamics in health and disease. However, the high dimensionality, technical variability, and biological complexity of these datasets present significant challenges for integration, annotation, and interpretation. In this dissertation, a suite of computational approaches is introduced to address key problems in single-cell and multi-omic data analysis through model-based innovations and applied statistical frameworks.
