Custom Car Culture (CCC) is a form of creativity that emerges from personal identities and passions. It involves the restoration, modification and personal adornment of commercially manufactured cars. This process creates a journey, where the enthusiast goes through multiple phases of self-reflection. But due to a lack of local resources, Qatar-based CCC enthusiasts often have to send their cars abroad to Dubai or Japan in order to customize them, relinquishing creative control in the process.

“What Does a Rooster Say?” Growing up in Vietnam’s K–12 public school system, I found the mandatory textbooks overwhelming, a sentiment shared by my peers. As an educator and designer, I noticed a need for improvement in Vietnam’s current textbooks. Despite numerous reforms, they still don’t effectively cater to their primary audience: the students. The newer textbooks, especially for first graders, are visually dense and complex, causing concern among researchers, parents, and educators. This led to the idea of creating an alternative. My exhibition reconciles representations of domesticity, labor, and morality through the lens of sex-work (SW). It consists of video work, a video game, and free-to-take objects, where donation, the strip club, and the fish tank converge. My work concludes that SW is a timeless construct that will always exist even after reimagining multiple worlds.

This project outlines the great importance of inclusive children’s literature and the benefits of implementing high-quality, inclusive picture books within elementary school classrooms. Additionally, the project provides suggested guidelines for selecting inclusive literature as well as copious examples of high-quality picture books within a variety of subject matter categories. In addition to a thorough paper, this project contains a large online resource referred to as the “Virtual Library” that utilizes technology and graphic design to simulate a real library full of inclusive literature.

Limited research exists that effectively describes what format of ads (photos, videos, graphics, or GIFs), receive the most link clicks, the most adds-to-cart, and the most conversions. There is even less research available that describes the extent to which the visual structure of advertisements, such as chosen colors, imagery, text, and duration impacts ad performance. This study sets out to address and help close this research gap by creating and testing multiple advertisements on Facebook and Instagram.

There has been significant progress in simulating exoplanet interiors in the past decade. With the discovery of the TRAPPIST-1 system in the last few years, there have been many publications presenting models to best characterize specific aspects of exoplanets in study. In 2020, Cal Poly’s Biomedical Engineering Department changed the name of one of their existing labs, the QPLUS lab, to the TECHE lab. TECHE stands for Transforming Engineers Through Hands-On Engagement and is a lab where biomedical engineering students can work together on projects, prototype ideas, and create solutions that help improve the lives of those who have disabilities.
