Staff Matters: Should You Create A Combined Pto Bank?, Jodi Schafer SPHR, SHRM-SCP 2022 HRM Services

Staff Matters: Should You Create A Combined Pto Bank?, Jodi Schafer Sphr, Shrm-Scp

The Journal of the Michigan Dental Association

Consider consolidating separate leave banks into a combined Paid Time Off (PTO) system to simplify administration and boost employee flexibility. PTO allows staff to use their leave days for any purpose without providing a reason. While it fosters trust and personal accountability, it may lead to employees saving days for vacations and working while sick. A PTO policy should address availability, employee type, coordination, and communication to encourage PTO utilization, prevent burnout, and enhance work-life balance.

An Overview Of Maxillofacial Rehabilitation For The General Dentist, Vladimir Frias DDS, MS 2022 Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center

An Overview Of Maxillofacial Rehabilitation For The General Dentist, Vladimir Frias Dds, Ms

The New York State Dental Journal

The rehabilitation of the maxillofacial patient is mostly carried out in a multi-specialty treatment environment such as a comprehensive cancer center, where multiple specialists are available to treat the numerous concerns and complications that may occur. Many of these patients are seen by the maxillofacial prosthodontist at the same time as the other members of the team and maxillofacial rehabilitation can be treatment planned and performed expediently. Some patients, however, are treated without rehabilitation in mind and go years without appropriate referrals. A knowledge of the multiple types of prostheses available will allow the general practitioner to decide if a …

Force Comparison Of Rotational Tooth Movements For Loop-Design And Traditional Aligners, Robert Olsen 2022 Loma Linda University

Force Comparison Of Rotational Tooth Movements For Loop-Design And Traditional Aligners, Robert Olsen

Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects

Introduction

This study aimed to evaluate the force (F) and torque (Tq) exerted on a rotated canine and molar tooth by two different aligner systems. An ArchForm loop clear aligner (AFL) was compared to a traditional clear aligner (T) with the force (F) and torque (Tq) compared. A reduction in F and Tq with AFL aligners could possibly decrease the incidence of Orthodontic Root Resorption (ORR), while also creating more effective forces for tooth movement.

Materials and Methods

Two types of T aligners varying by material thickness were compared to two types of AFL aligners varying by loop width. All …

Maxillary Central Incisor Rr In Hispanic And Non-Hispanic White Patients With Rme, Madison Healy 2022 Loma Linda University

Maxillary Central Incisor Rr In Hispanic And Non-Hispanic White Patients With Rme, Madison Healy

Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects

Introduction: Apical root resorption is one of the most common adverse effects of orthodontic treatment. Forces used during orthodontic tooth movement can cause permanent loss of apical surfaces of teeth and although most reported cases of root resorption are asymptomatic, the process is irreversible and often unpredictable. Thus, it is of clinical interest to investigate which patients may be at greatest risk.

Purpose: This study utilized Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) to evaluate whether rapid maxillary expansion (RME) in Hispanic patients increased the severity of orthodontically induced apical root resorption.

Materials and Methods: Pre-treatment (T1) and post-treatment …

Maxillary Sinus Foreign Body From An Usual Source: Provisional Prosthesis Material, Daniel Sultan Dds, Md, Peter Balacky Dds, Peter Protzel Dds, Md

The New York State Dental Journal

Background: Antral foreign bodies disrupt normal sinus drainage and can lead to sinusitis and infection. These foreign bodies can arise from many sources including several unique to the dental setting. Case Description: Typical sources like displaced teeth, roots, and root canal filling materials would be iatrogenically introduced at the time of sinus violation. However, we report the unusual case of displaced provisional prosthesis material introduced via a small and almost invisible oroantral fistula several years following extraction. Practical Implications: light of this case, we emphasize the importance of the Valsalva test to diagnose oral antral fistulas following extractions and prior …
