An Assessment Of Public Library Services In North Eastern Nigeria, Adam Gambo Saleh, Fatima Ibrahim Lasisi
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
North Eastern Nigeria, formally one political state, is now made up of six autonomous states. Government efforts to coordinate library service in Nigeria as exemplified by the commissioning of two expert studies variously led by F. A. Sharr (1963) and R. L. Pearce (1968), were thwarted by the incessant political fragmentation of the Country into autonomous states, resulting in the emergence of inefficient and ineffective public libraries. With the achievement of political stability of some sort, in the last ten years as a result of the institutionalization of democracy, the question is has the situation changed? Are public libraries in …

Building A Collaborative Digital Collection: A Necessary Evolution In Libraries, Michelle M. Wu
Building A Collaborative Digital Collection: A Necessary Evolution In Libraries, Michelle M. Wu
Georgetown Law Faculty Publications and Other Works
Law libraries are losing ground in the effort to preserve information in the digital age. In part, this is due declining budgets, user needs, and a caution born from the great responsibility libraries feel to ensure future access instead of selecting a form that may not survive. That caution, though, has caused others, such as Google, to fill the silence with their vision. Libraries must stand and contribute actively to the creation of digital collections if we expect a voice in future discussion. This article presents a vision of the start of a collaborative, digital academic law library, one that …
