On the 16th March 2010 at [International demining organisation] task CBU 478, an uncontrolled detonation of a US M series M77 sub-munition occurred while [International demining organisation] searcher [the Victim] was conducting sub-surface instrument search.

In 2004–05, the Inter-Agency Coordination Group for Mine Action (IACG-MA) endorsed the first UN Gender Guidelines for Mine Action Programmes to enhance the integration of gender considerations into UN mine action programmes. The guidelines were developed with the assistance of the International Women’s Development Agency (IWDA). This effort followed the launch by DPKO in 2004 of the Gender Resource Package for Peacekeeping Operations, which identified key gender issues and provided an overview of how they could be addressed most effectively. Women’s and men’s work (both in and out of the labor force) still differs, so we can expect that the economic crisis has had a distinct impact on women as well as their families. Studies suggest that the prevalence of mental illness in Latinos is similar to that of other groups; however, Latinos are less likely than non-Latino whites to access mental health services, and when they do, the quality of care is poor. To better understand the factors that influence use of mental health services among Latinos, a descriptive, cross-sectional, correlational study was conducted (N= 340; 219 non-consumers and 121 consumers), which examined the association between social capital, acculturation, cultural beliefs or explanatory models of illness, stigma, need, and mental health service use. According to the investigation report the de-miner was using the scraper direct on the top of the detected signal causing it to go off. It was then found that the exploded item was a MUV fuse. As a result of the explosion, [MUV fuze] sustained injuries on his eyes, right side ear, arm and head; the injuries indicate that the de-miner was not using his visor properly.

The Deminer today was officiated as a team leader due to the absence of the team leader. He took one deminer tools and started to work himself in one of the remaining cluster in his section. While he was using the grass cutter to cut the grass in front of the base stick he hit the barely covered M14 mine by the grass cutter which caused the mine to initiate.

This technical report summarizes new and existing data to address the question, “Does Head Start work for Indiana children, families, and communities?” Data sources consulted in this study include the state Head Start Program Information Report, local Indiana Head Start and Early Head Start Programs, existing national studies of Head Start and Early Head Start, and local and national data available on children’s development in early care and education programs for low-income families. Why do America's cities sprawl whereas European cities remain comparatively compact, and what difference do the patterns of urban development make? Pietro Nivola, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, addresses these questions. Nivola examines two kinds of determinants of urban form: (1) market forces, including those influenced by geography, demographics, and technological change, and (2) public policies shaping national transportation systems, tax policy, educational institutions, and more.
