The Deminer today was officiated as a team leader due to the absence of the team leader. He took one deminer tools and started to work himself in one of the remaining cluster in his section. While he was using the grass cutter to cut the grass in front of the base stick he hit the barely covered M14 mine by the grass cutter which caused the mine to initiate.

This technical report summarizes new and existing data to address the question, “Does Head Start work for Indiana children, families, and communities?” Data sources consulted in this study include the state Head Start Program Information Report, local Indiana Head Start and Early Head Start Programs, existing national studies of Head Start and Early Head Start, and local and national data available on children’s development in early care and education programs for low-income families. Pietro Nivola, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, addresses these questions. Elements of both projects can be seen as very successful. Overall, the UNMAS project was more successful, whereas UNDP's ANBP was seen as increasingly under-performing, and became less relevant, during this funding period. However, the work of ANBP's Implementing Partners (IPs), and in particular the HALO Trust's village level Weapons & Ammunition Disposal (WAD) programme, initially funded by ANBP, is seen as highly successful.

Aboriginal Policy Research Consortium International (APRCi)

Co-chaired by Dan Beavon of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, Jerry White of the University of Western Ontario, and Peter Dinsdale of the National Association of Friendship Centres, this APRC, like those before it, brought researchers, policy-makers, and the Aboriginal community together to make connections, hear about leading research, and learn together.

Volume IX focuses on issues surrounding Aboriginal health and well-being including the adoption of a National Aboriginal Health Policy, social determinants of health, the effects of pandemics on Canada’s First Nations, and the association between language skills and well-being.
