The study falls within the context of emphasis on negotiation as a strategic tool in the management of security crises owing to challenges that have become so complicated and dynamic against security institutions. According to reports by the UAE Ministry of Interior, more than 1,200 different types of security crises have been recorded within the last five years. This can range from field to organizational and emergency crises. Therefore, there is an immediate requirement for developing new negotiation methodologies through which response capacities can be boosted to make swift and precise decisions during critical moments.

The project uses an anonymised UK parliamentary office as a practice-based case study. The elected representative is referred to as MP A, the placement office as Parliamentary Office A, and the placement supervisor as Supervisor B. Anonymisation is necessary because the project analyses briefing practice and workplace feedback rather than the identity, political position, or internal operations of a specific office.

As the building sector shifts toward community-led energy efficiency (EE) initiatives to mitigate the climate crisis, scaling adoption requires understanding behavioral drivers. This study examines key drivers of EE measure adoption: perceived non-energy benefits, trusted advisors, and behavioral signaling. This research contributes to the energy policy and social science literature by empirically linking social trust with signaling preferences. It extends existing EE adoption decision theories by identifying distinct clusters of “expert” versus “close” advisors across demographic groups. Algorithmic recommendation systems and interface designs shape attention by combining visually salient cues with uncertain reward timing and low friction interaction. These conditions can sustain anticipatory checking, extend time on task, and reduce natural disengagement points through patterns such as infinite scrolling and autoplay. This dissertation advances the study of collaborative policymaking by examining an underexplored relationship: how the collaborative policymaking processes shape policymaking outputs. Drawing on scholarship on collaborative policymaking, adaptive policymaking, and collective learning, this dissertation proposes and tests three approaches to measuring both processes and outputs, using U.S. Marine Fishery Management Councils as the empirical context. Three essays collectively demonstrate that policymaking outputs are systematically shaped by the dynamics of the collaborative process itself. Well-being and productivity are widely recognized as central to the work performance of humanitarian aid workers. Despite increasing attention to staff well-being, performance within the humanitarian sector in Egypt remains stagnant or, in some cases, declining. This study examines why expanded well-being initiatives have not yielded sustained performance improvements by examining how actors' external roles, organizational factors, and individual factors affect humanitarian workers’ well-being and work performance.
