In the 2010 survey Taking Our Pulse: The OCLC Research Survey of Special Collections and Archives, artists’ books were the specific genre most often identified as a new collecting area within library special collections departments.1 For librarians at institutions without an artists’ books collection, beginning and sustaining the growth of a new collection can be an exciting and challenging opportunity to become acquainted with an additional area of specialized knowledge. Objective: When the University of North Dakota’s Health Sciences Library moved to its new location in 2016 it transformed itself into an entirely digital library with a few exceptions. Due to shelving limitations, the library could retain only about one third of the volumes and historical medical artifacts in its special collections. Staff members were tasked with selecting the most appropriate items and moving them to their new location while complying with UND’s disposal policies for discarded and gifted materials.

Objective: The objective of this research is studying users’ motivation in using information service of regional information center for science and technology based on expectancy theory.

Methodology: The methodology is Analytical survey with correlation approach, and statistical population of this research includes users of regional information center for science and technology. Data was collected by the researcher-made questionnaire and was analyzed by SPSS software.

This paper is an empirical study of evaluation practices of electronic resources in university libraries in South East Nigeria. The study determines the criteria considered in evaluating electronic resources, the adequacy of use of the electronic resources and the extent of use of the electronic resources by university libraries in South East Nigeria. In view of the importance of indigenous knowledge in development process, this paper investigated the efforts of selected federal university libraries in South West, Nigeria in indigenous knowledge collection development and preservation. The University of Kentucky (UK) is participating as a Center of Excellence (COE) for the Works Progress Administration (WPA), the Smithsonian Institution, and the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) in the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries‘ (ASERL) Collaborative Federal Depository Program (CFDP). This collaborative effort is designed to distribute collection development for all Federal agencies across the entire Southeast.

The presenter will describe how UK has focused its depository collection development efforts on non-COE agencies, and reduced its retrospective collection development for other institutions’ COE agencies.
