Reproducibility Of A Vo2max Protocol For Runners Using Treadmill, Thiago Fernando Lourenço, Lucas Samuel Tessuti, Luis Eduardo Barreto Martins, René Brenzikofer
International Journal of Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings
Test protocols applied to runners should reproduce the real training, outdoor race and should be able to unequivocally determine the submaximal parameters such as ventilatory threshold (VT) and respiratory compensation point (RCP). However, classical VO2max protocols are still used for athletes, mainly due to familiarity, and most of them differ in methodological characteristics, such as stage duration and increment size. Other difficulty found is the lack of reliability, which can affect the precision assessment of the athlete’s performance. The aim of this study was to verify the reproducibility of an incremental protocol for the treadmill based on metabolic concepts. Eleven …

Reference Change Values Of Some Current Blood Parameters In Sports Science In Physically Active Subjects, Lázaro Alessandro Soares Nunes, René Brenzikofer, Denise Vaz De Macedo
International Journal of Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings
The training monitoring by blood analysis and performance tests may be useful to improve performance. However, effective interpretation of data should take in account the inherent biological and analytical variation. To verify if the difference between two serial results is significant and biologically relevant it can be calculated the Reference Change Value (RCV) from the following formula: RCV = (2)½ * Zp*(CVA2 + CV I 2)1/2, where: 21/2=to verify difference between 2 moments, Zp=Z score (probability 95% =1.96), CVA=analytical coefficient of variation and CVI=intra-individual coefficient of variation. The difference between two consecutive results compared to a calculated RCV make possible …
