Effect Of Cadence To Determine Critical Power Using Non- Exhaustive Protocol In Cycle Ergometer, Wellington De Sousa Assis, Gustavo Gomes De Araujo, Ivan Gustavo Masselli Dos Reis, Álvaro Luis Pessoa De Farias

International Journal of Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings

In cycling the exercise power (w) is a product of cadence (rpm) and kilopounds (kp). The purpose of this study was to check the pedaling frequency influence on critical power (CP) determined using non-exhaustive aerobic capacity test (Chassain, 1986). Adult men (n=2) were submitted to four powers (100, 120, 130 and 150 w) in two different cadences (40 and 70 rpm) in cycloergometer (Monark 894 E). Two exercise bouts lasting 180 seconds by 90 seconds of interval were performed at an equal intensity. For each intensity, delta heart rate (ΔHR) was determined by subtraction of the maximum heart rate (MHR) …

International Journal of Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings

The purpose of this study was to investigate the validity of critical force test from maximal lactate steady state (MLSS) during resistance test using straight bench press (SBP). Five healthy male volunteers aged (22.6 ± 2.88 years), weight (76.3 ± 11.49 kg) e height (182.6 ± 7.54 cm), trained in resistance exercise, performed four diferent tests to determine: one maximal effort (1RM), critical force using the critical power model (force vs 1/time limit – 20.25 and 30% of 1RM). The CF was the linear coefficient and the anaerobic impulse capacity (CIA) was the angular. MLSS was determined using loads of …

International Journal of Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings

The Anaerobic Threshold (AT) is a parameter highly used for physical training prescription. The determination of AT can be performed by direct and indirect methods. The aim of this study was to determine one indirect method to predict the effort intensity that match to Blood Glucose Threshold (BGT), using the maximal Heart Rate from one incremental test in treadmill (HRmax) in runners, 37.57±2.87 years (n=7). The protocol consisted of one incremental test in treadmill, with initial speed of 8 km.h-1, increased by 1 km.h-1 every 3 minutes until the voluntary exhaustion. Blood glucose and HR measurements were done before the …

Correlation Between Running Anaerobic Sprint Test And Anaerobic Work Capacity In Soccer Players, João Paulo Loures, Carlos Augusto Kalva Filho, Vanessa Holtz Franco, Diego André Bittencourt

International Journal of Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings

Running anaerobic sprint test (RAST) is theoretically an anaerobic measurement. Similarly, anaerobic work capacity (AWC), also evaluates anaerobic performance. However, their relationships as scientifically validated anaerobic tests are still controversial. This study evaluates associations between AWC and maximum velocity (Vmax), mean velocity (Vm) velocity, peak (PP), mean (PMab), absolute (PPab), and relative (PPre) power, fatigue index (IF), and peak lactatemia concentration ([la-]p). Nine sub-17 category soccer players from Ponta Grossa, PR, Brazil were submitted to six 35m efforts separated by 10s intervals to determine PPab, PMab, PPre, PMre, and IF (RAST). After three, five, and seven minutes blood samples were …

Six male athletes were submitted to the CS test, to linear regression of the distances (800, 1.500, 3.000 and 5.000m). The CS was determined by the angular coefficient of the linear regression (Distance x Time). The predicted workloads for the MLSS determination were: 103; 100 and 98% of the CS, randomized and in a continuous way in subsequent days. In MLSS test, the athletes run for 30 min, and it was collected blood samples (25μL) at 10th and 30th …

Changes In Heart Rate And Blood Pressure In Sub-18 Soccer Players Tested With Running-Based Anaerobic Sprint Test, João Bartholomeu Neto, Cláudio De Oliveira Assumpção, Ricardo Yukio Asano, Marco Antonio De Freitas Souza

International Journal of Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings

The Running-Based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST) is an important tool for prescribing and monitoring training. The aim of this study was to evaluate cardiovascular changes by the variables heart rate and blood pressure in soccer players tested with RAST. A trial with 20 soccer players who trained daily and participated in sub-18 soccer championships. The heart rate (HR) was collected at rest (before warming) and right after the end of the test, as well as the systolic (SBP) and diastolic (DBP) blood pressure. For statistics it was used the paired t-test with p<0.05. The collected data show that the values at resting time point can be considered normal for healthy young people and after the test it was observed that the HR and SBP increased significantly as compared with resting time, and the DPB presented no statistically changes. Conclusion: The results showed that the cardiovascular changes occurring in the RAST test, which is an effort with anaerobic features, are similar to changes in high-intensity aerobic efforts.

International Journal of Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings

Nandrolone decanoate is a androgenic anabolic steroid (AAS) which targets the satellite cells in skeletal muscles. These cells are considered the stem cells of skeletal muscle, and they are essential for muscle growth and repair. Myostatin is a negative regulator of muscle mass that inhibits myoblast proliferation and differentiation. Recognizing the mechanisms related to AAS action in skeletal muscle is critical for a better understand of muscular physiology under AAS use. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of aquatic plyometric training (APT) with overload associated with AAS on the gastrocnemius muscle of rats. Animals were grouped …

Maximal Lactate Steady State In Swimming Tethered, Marcelo Papoti, Ricardo Vitório, Gustavo G. Araújo, Adelino S. R. Da Silva

International Journal of Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings

This study investigated whether aerobic capacity (AC) in tethered swimming corresponds to maximal lactate steady state (MLSS) and its correlation with 30 min (V30) and 400m (V400) free swimming velocity. Twenty-five swimmers were submitted to an incremental tethered swimming test (ITS) with each stage lasting 3 minutes, initial load 20N, with 10N increments and a 30s interval to collect blood samples and lactatemia ([La-]). The abrupt increase in [La-] against force (F) corresponded to AC (ACBI). The points obtained for [La-] against force (N) were adjusted with an exponential curve model to determine AC corresponding to 3.5mmol.l-1 (AC3.5) and 4.0mmol.l-1 …
