The purpose of this study was to review the history of the U.S. Security Assistance Program to determine factors that shape the program. This research question was answered by accomplishing a literature review of the major legislative acts related to U.S. security assistance. After completing the review, the researchers determined that each of the acts contained four common factors: (1) the threat of Soviet expansion, (2) significant global events, (3) monetary authorizations, and (4) the attitudes and policies of the current leadership. The victim took two steps and a mine exploded under his right foot. Using the MMPIand the IPI, the present study examined the differences in psychometric defensiveness between two groups of law enforcement applicants: applicants identified as being deceptive and a comparison group of candidates for whom no deception was indicated. Significant differences were found on the traditional validity (minimization) scales for both instruments as well as several supplemental scales and indexes from the MMPI. A new index (Es-K) from the MMPI showed a highly significant difference between groups and good classification accuracy. The results suggest that deceptive applicants show more defensiveness on psychometric testing and that test results may assist in raising …

As it entered the area it set off a tank mine and the roller system was thrown backwards with far more force than anticipated, hitting the tank. The detonation made the driver’s view ports of armoured glass muddy, so [Victim No.2] called a deminer to clean it. The tank progressed and initiated another three AT mines.

Victim No,1 was working with Victim No.2 to his right when he saw a bush with a pile of PMN-2 mines beneath it. He crouched to peer under the bush, suspecting the cache might be booby trapped. Having seen no sign of a trap he stepped back and initiated a buried PMN-2 with his right heel. Victim No.2 was "less than ten metres away". He received fragment injuries to his arm and fragments of molten plastic in his leg which cut his tendons.

Military manpower management principles and policies are in constant flux as the military forces mobilize and demobilize during periods of war and peace. This study identifies trends in U.S. military manpower policies and procedures from 1890 to 1991. Major military conflicts reviewed are the Spanish- American War, World wars I and II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War, and the Persian Gulf War. In all wars until Vietnam, post war active duty forces were larger than prewar forces. However, these active duty forces tended to be relatively small until the Cold War period. This study examined the reparable logistics pipeline and identified characteristics and associated problems with the processing of Foreign Military Sales (FMS) repair and replace aircraft assets. Areas of investigation included examining the FMS logistics reparable pipeline and determining what section of the pipeline the USAF controls or can influence, identifying the individual problems within that section of pipeline, and collecting and analyzing data pertaining to FMS repair and replace requisitions. This study sought to develop a framework of factors which impact the success of offset agreements. These agreements have impacts on the U.S. defense industrial base, employment, the balance of trade, and the ability of the U.S. to protect its technology. Consequently, their study is important. A framework of twenty-two factors was developed through an extensive literature review and then tested against the offset proposals in the Korean Fighter Program (KFP). This thesis examines whether military interdependence among states is increasing or decreasing. Although it is impossible to predict the future, it can be deduced that military interaction is increasing as a result of current world events and stated Presidential policy objectives. During loading, it is believed that a 120mm PEPA mortar was dropped and detonated. The resulting explosion spread to similar items already loaded and a massive explosion killed four of the loaders nearest to the truck and the ex-pat supervisor. The supervisor may have been walking away from the truck or been in its cab at the time. He was killed when a small fragment hit him in the back of the head and penetrated his brain. He died at the scene.

In 1966, General Charles de Gaulle partially withdrew France from the integrated military structure of the North Atlantic Treaty organization (NATO). This action represented a climax in the ongoing evolution in French foreign policy. Both sides of the Atlantic failed to understand de Gaulle's actions because of the ambivalent relation between the concept of grandeur in world politics and France's loyalty to the Alliance. Consequently, the partial withdrawal was perceived as a drastic shift in policies exemplifying French "anti-Americanism" and lack of commitment to the Alliance and NATO.

Lack of supervision and appropriate instructions meant he walked into a known mined area to check the vehicle. He stood on an anti-personnel blast mine; either a PMN, Type 58 Chinese copy, or Iraqi PMN copy (black), or a Type 72 AP and suffered a lower leg amputation.
