Water As A Factor In Industrial Location With Special Reference To Arid And Semi-Arid Regions Of The United States, Dale W. Berry

Economics ETDs

From chapter one

During the past several years a lively and growing interest in water resources has developed in the United states. With the recognition that freshwater is, in fact, scarce, and no longer a free good, economists, geographers, engineers, planners, administrators, and others in all levels of the governmental and private spheres have shown a new or renewed interest in problems associated with water use. Quickening the rate of economic growth and the conquest of poverty are the primary expressed objects of public policy in the underdeveloped countries of the world.
