JOHNSON CITY (April 21, 2020) – Emma Tobias, a junior in East Tennessee State University’s Dental Hygiene Program, was selected as the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) District VI Delegate.

As the delegate, she will represent dental hygiene students from Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi at the ADHA’s National Conference, currently planned for June 12-14 in New Orleans.

A donor at ETSU's first drive-through medical supply collection drive drops off supplies in the bin. Donors do not need to exit their vehicles at the no-contact collection site on the first floor of ETSU's parking garage. The site will be open again on Saturday, April 18.

The university recently approved a new 3+1 degree completion program for biology and chemistry majors in the College of Arts and Sciences and health sciences majors in the College of Public Health.

Research consultations are a valuable service offered by academic libraries for students who are able to visit the library, however, many students enrolled in online degree programs or considering enrollment have limited access to campus services. We designed and tested a virtual reference consultation service for distance learners and graduate students. This interactive poster outlines a practical approach for designing and initiating a virtual research consultation service to offer equitable access to library services and a positive user experience for distance learners.

Students choose one or two programs to study – Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Illustrator and/or After Effects – and then take the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) exam. The honors, which were presented in the budget category of $50,000-$200,000, were the Award of Excellence for Temporary Exhibit and the Award of Commendation for Publication, Book/Catalog/Annual Report.

JOHNSON CITY (April 9, 2020) – East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy has ranked first in the state for its Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) residency match rate, as well as 12th in the nation.

Distribution Channel Choice And Divisional Conflict In Remanufacturing Operations, Tianqin Shi, Dilip Chhajed, Zhixi Wan, Yunchuan Liu

We consider a firm consisting of two divisions, one responsible for designing and manufacturing new products and the other responsible for remanufacturing operations. The firm will sell these new and remanufactured products either directly to the consumer (direct selling) or through an independent retailer (indirect selling). Our study demonstrates that a firm’s organizational structure can affect its marketing decisions. Specifically, a decentralized firm with separate manufacturing and remanufacturing divisions can benefit from indirect selling with higher firm profit, supply chain profit, and total consumer demand than direct selling. Recent research to analyze and discuss cultural differences has employed a combination of five major dimensions of individualism–collectivism, power distance, uncertainty avoidance, femininity– masculinity (gender role differentiation), and long-term orientation. Among these dimensions, individualism–collectivism has received the most attention. Chronologically, this cultural attribute has been regarded as one, then two, and more recently, four dimensions of horizontal and vertical individualism and collectivism. However, research on this issue has not been conclusive and some have argued against this expansion.
