This research paper explores the strategic integration of social media platforms by Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) beyond marketing. Drawing from Resource-Based View and Dynamic Capabilities theories, the study investigates how social media enhances management, coordination, and control functions. Through five diverse case studies from Ghana, findings reveal SMEs’ innovative use of platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, Slack, and Trello. This study explores how emphasizing corporate social responsibility (CSR) in item descriptions relates to purchasing decisions for consumers buying goods through online auctions. We leverage herd mentality theory, the heuristic–systematic model (HSM), and signaling theory to develop a framework of how online auctions may be impacted by item descriptions touting CSR. We then utilize text analysis to examine 23,932 auctions and analyze how emphasizing CSR in item descriptions influenced actual purchase opportunities. In this study, we find that including more CSR terminology in an item description increases sales both directly and indirectly, via an increase in the number of bids. …

The objective of this study is to improve the effectiveness of anti-piracy educational strategies by identifying unique digital pirate segments and delivering personalized campaign messages to the target audiences. In the first study, we introduced a segmentation study of digital pirates based on different types of risks involved in pirating activities. We identify four digital pirate segments (anti-pirates, hard-core pirates, performance-sensitive pirates, and finance-sensitive pirates), each demonstrating distinctive characteristics. This study investigated if the gender composition of teams impacts performance by examining the relationship between student-level variables of cultural intelligence and global knowledge and team-level variables of team performance. Data were collected from 1,922 students across 40 countries participating in 446 teams. Results of independent samples t-tests and multiple regression analyses at the student and team levels showed that gender and international status were related to global knowledge and cultural intelligence, whereas gender, global knowledge, and cultural intelligence were all significantly related to team performance.
