The Normal Gem: A Monthly Journal Devoted to the Interest of Education in Alabama existed as one of the University of North Alabama’s earliest student news publications. The publication derives its name from the university’s designation as the Florence State Normal School, the first state-supported teachers' college south of the Ohio River, which existed from 1872 through 1928 until the name was once again changed to Florence State College. The newspapers within the collection feature reflections on student life and education from October of 1889 through November of …

Its coverage of the Debanhi Escobar case in Mexico has attracted widespread international attention, particularly in relation to the handling of feminicide by Law Enforcement Authorities. Within this context, the present study investigates how NBC News represents Law Enforcement Authorities in reporting the Debanhi Escobar case and how such representations construct moral and institutional evaluations. This article explores how digital recording practices, amid contemporary technological transformation, rearticulate the musical meaning of karawitan, reshape listening experience, and reorganize its modes of cultural circulation. The study is situated within broader scholarly debates on digital mediation, particularly concerning the shifting relationship between recorded sound and the socio-spatial and ritual contexts that have historically constituted karawitan performance. Using a descriptive qualitative case-study approach, the research draws on in depth interviews with musicians (pengrawit), scholars, distributors, and listeners, supported by observations of recording environments, patterns of online circulation, archival sources, and indicators of platform based distribution. The aspects of translation acceptability are not related only to the accuracy and clarity of the translation. They also cover the naturalness of translation. This study aims to reveal the degree of translation naturalness of the Quranic imperative verses. This evaluative study compares the translations of the verses by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (MORA) and the one made by Muhammad Thalib (MT). The study used embedded case study research. The findings of the study show that in general, the translations of the verses in the two versions have an acceptable degree of naturalness. However, …

However, despite the multiplicity and heterogeneity of these attempts, this notion remains as complex, diverse and often insufficiently defined. Adopting a sociology-of-art perspective, this article examines the formation of the visual arts field in Morocco by linking historical, social, cultural, political, and economic dimensions. It traces the emergence of modern painting during the Protectorate, the institutionalization of training (the Tetouan and Casablanca art schools), successive generations of artists and aesthetic ruptures, and then focuses on mediation (galleries, education, collecting, criticism, the state, and cultural policies). This article outlines the main stages of speech production and inventories the types of errors that can disrupt oral communication, drawing on psycholinguistic research, particularly Eric Keller. It emphasizes that speaking—although seemingly effortless and continuous—relies on complex operations: message conceptualization, lexical selection, semantic and syntactic encoding, phonological and morphological encoding, and articulation. The paper reviews common error types (stuttering, repetitions, pauses, slips of the tongue) and discusses their effects on message transmission. It also shows how such errors provide useful evidence for understanding the organization of the mental lexicon and the mechanisms underlying language processing.

This article analyzes the translation of Moroccan Arabic proverbs into French through the lens of cultural mediation. By postulating that « translating a proverb is translating a culture, » we explore the challenges posed by fixed units whose often metaphorical meaning is inseparable from specific sociocultural referents (rites, traditional trades, hagiographic figures). We demonstrate that the success of this operation requires moving beyond simple linguistic transcoding to adopt a semantic and pragmatic reinterpretation, integrating the context of enunciation and extralinguistic realities in order to preserve the identity of the source heritage while making it intelligible to the target reader

This article studies the social transfers engendered by the travel of the individuals: of the village of Kabylia Timeghras, towards the city of east Constantine algerien. Beyond an undeniable sociological reality, there is a woman, who is the central actor of this social transformation. The Kabyle woman left her village is going to adapt himself not without clashes to her new society of reception.
