On the other hand, they represent a field For entertainment, education and consolidating the national identity of the groups of visitors by providing a lot of historical knowledge about the history and civilization of their homelands. The Communicative Dimension Of The Friday Sermon; Reflections On The Farewell Pilgrimage Sermon, Brahim Waliz
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
The necessity of life necessitated that man gather in fraternal groups to build the foundations of a mutual life of cooperation that requires participation between the various parties. From the first cell of society, to the entire nation, and even to humanity as a whole, and the wisdom of the Creator in His creation decreed that man be lacking in others, in need of his gender, striving to give and take, and it is no secret that this interaction is what humanity achieved this tremendous progress.
Human Civilizations Throughout History, A Reading Of The Causes Of Conflict And The Prospects For Achieving Coexistence And Peace, Saeed Ardif

The Arab-Iranian Brotherhood Within The Framework Of Islamic Civilization, Muhamad Ali Adharshab
The Arab-Iranian Brotherhood Within The Framework Of Islamic Civilization, Muhamad Ali Adharshab
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
Islamic culture is the only one capable of transforming the neighboring countries into a strategic depth for the Arab world and a support for its causes, and to restore identity and the scientific and evolutionary movement to the Islamic world, and keep it away from internal crises and from relapse into trifles and trivialities after setting before it the true ideal and the great human goals. Unless Islamic culture, in its broad sense, regains its presence on the scene, the human being in the Islamic world will remain lost searching for his identity, and this research may be accompanied by …
Civilized Communication Or Cultural Communication? Conceptual Ambiguities And Alternative Value Stakes In Metaverse Worlds, Mustafaa Almariyt
Civilized Communication Or Cultural Communication? Conceptual Ambiguities And Alternative Value Stakes In Metaverse Worlds, Mustafaa Almariyt
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
In the social and human sciences, the concept of civilization has multiple connotation due to its many generations, approaches, and systems, as well as its opposition and contradiction at times, and its confusion with other concepts such as culture, values, modernity, etc, and dismissed as transmitters and translators, we have the epistemological and axiological legitimacy to reconsider these concepts and critically examine them again which in turn allows us to open up to new approaches aimed at looking at the concept of civilization from a cultural angle, based largely on the reconceptualization of other areas that have been marginalized or …

Roman Dumovsky's Position On Josef Pilsudski's Coup In Poland In 1926, Hassan Attia Abdullah, Zahraa Razak Hussein
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
After 132 years of German, Austro-Hungarian and Russian occupation, the Polish state was established in 1918, The two giant characters played a prominent role in the independence of the Poles, They are Roman Dumovsky, who had followed the political approach in his struggle, And Joseph Pilsudski, who followed the revolutionary approach to achieving independence, and among whom there was disagreement and competition over the way the political system was run in the new state. And after the Dmovsky method prevailed and his political approach prevailed over Pilsudski’s during the period 1921-1925, the latter staged a coup d’état in 1926, through …
Acceptance Governance, Jeremy Bendik-Keymer
Acceptance Governance, Jeremy Bendik-Keymer
Faculty Scholarship
There is a form of power whereby the moral relationship governs those who are part of, or affected by, the relationship. Called “acceptance governance,” it develops “power-with" in a decolonial manner, reframing agency as guided by accountability. Power-with leads to minimal moral relations between worlds out of which processes of acceptance build justice and right relations from the bottom up. There are two senses of acceptance, however, the second being accepting the conditions of acceptance. Power-with then becomes grounded in “power from,” a new form of power uncommon in the literature. In addition to cohering with a number of indigenous …

Remembering Complicity And Resistance: A Review Of Mihaela Mihai’S Political Memory And The Aesthetics Of Care: The Art Of Complicity And Resistance (2022), Sofía Forchieri
CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture
This article offers a review of Mihaela Mihai’s book Political Memory and the Aesthetics of Care: The Art of Complicity and Resistance (2022). In it, Mihai courageously brings together insights from critical theory, political and legal science, philosophy, literary studies, and feminist theory to argue for the need of rearticulating how we remember complicity and resistance in the aftermath of political violence. Mihai develops her argument in three steps. First, she provides an account of how complicity and resistance are misremembered after systemic violence. Second, she tracks the political, epistemic and ethical consequences that this faulty work of memory-making holds …
A Semiotic Paradox: Scientific Language In The Narrative Of Tv Advertisement-, Maria Jesus De Prada Vicente
A Semiotic Paradox: Scientific Language In The Narrative Of Tv Advertisement-, Maria Jesus De Prada Vicente
CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture
The narrative we find in TV advertisement especially abounds in scientific terms that the viewers hardly understand. The apparently ‘scientific’ language induces them to believe in the modern myth of science as absolute truth, which inevitably produces alienation from reality. The more such language triumphs, the more alienation they suffer without knowing it. Such is our situation today that reminds us of the time of Nazi in which alienating language was dominant. However, whether the use of scientific language on TV advertisement becomes alienating or not depends on the socio-cultural context of the viewers. For example, in Japan where the …
Terada Torahiko, A Physicist And A Haikai Poet, Akira Komiya
Terada Torahiko, A Physicist And A Haikai Poet, Akira Komiya
CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture
Terada Torahiko is known as a scientific essayist in Japan, but hardly anyone knows he was a haikai poet as well as a physicist. According to him, haikai poetry and physics are two different ways of conceiving Nature, both valid and perhaps complementary to each other. Seeing his research in physics looking for regularities in apparently irregular phenomena in everyday life, we may say his haiku haikai spirit is manifest there and that he was pioneering a new science such as the one developed later by Ilya Prigogine. His association of haiku haikai poetry and Freudian interpretations of dreams leads …
Bergson On Poetics: Philosophy, Literature And Science, Michel Dalissier
Bergson On Poetics: Philosophy, Literature And Science, Michel Dalissier
CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture
In this paper, I analyze Henri Bergson’s insightful and contrasted vision of poetry. First, I show in what sense Bergson sympathizes with the idea that the poet must be credited to surpass the novelist in offering to us an unparalleled emotional apprehension of the world. Second, I nonetheless underline how Bergson grants the product of the poet, i.e., the poem itself, a problematic linguistic status, inasmuch as the focus of his analysis shifts from an intersubjective poetical apprehension of feelings to their individual poetic appreciation, or from the spiritual dimension of poetry to its material dimension. Third, I further suggest …

Language, Science And Literature, Hitoshi Oshima
CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture
The creativity of language Chomsky puts so much importance on must be questioned because the same creativity has produced lethal weapons such as atomic bombs. Modern science developed by the power of language has certainly produced many beneficial things, but we should not overlook its destructive side. Besides, language capable of inventing a new reality leads us to believe in it blindly. Let us remember philosophers such as Wittgenstein or Nagarjuna who warned us not to believe in the construct called “reality” made up by language power. Now, is it better and safer then to use a metaphorical language that composes …
Coming Of Age And Exile In No Pasó Nada, Regina Maria Faunes
Coming Of Age And Exile In No Pasó Nada, Regina Maria Faunes
CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture
The article examines the effect of exile on the coming-of-age process in Skármeta’s novel, No pasó nada. Through textual analysis and the application of theories surrounding identity formation, socialization, and the accommodation of the individual into society, the paper demonstrates how exile both complicates and acts as a catalyst in the protagonist’s coming of age. Despite the fact that the novel was published in the second half of the twentieth century, the protagonist follows the classical coming-of-age process depicted in nineteenth-century texts, prior to changes brought about by late capitalism, globalization and the explosion of digital media platforms that …
Orature: The Political Interpretation Of Performance Framework In Anthills Of The Savannah And Half Of A Yellow Sun, Jing Duan
CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture
The focus of discussion in this paper lies in a perception that orature of African written literature is not innocent but a form of control. Operated through its performance framework, the concept of orature provides an angle to observe how African oral tradition penetrates written literature and cultivates an awareness of the political nature both of the material to be written and of the writing process itself. This paper explores the performance framework in two African novels — Achebe’s Anthills of the Savannah and Adichie’s Half of a Yellow Sun. Through such key concepts as event, narrative and self-reflexivity …
Political Orientation In Ecocriticism: National Allegory In Vietnamese Ecofiction By Trần Duy Phiên, Chi P. Pham
Political Orientation In Ecocriticism: National Allegory In Vietnamese Ecofiction By Trần Duy Phiên, Chi P. Pham
CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture
Since the late 1990s, theories and practices of ecocriticism have tended to be more politically engaged than in its earliest phase, considering that “environmental problems cannot be solved without addressing issues of wealth and poverty, overconsumption, underdevelopment, and the notion of resource scarcity” (Heise 251-2). This paper engages with the political orientation in ecocriticism by examining presentations of humans and nature in three Vietnamese short stories – “Kiến và người” (The Ants and the Man, 1990), “Mối và người” (The Termite and the Man, 1992), and “Nhện và người” (The Spider and the Man, 2012) by Trần Duy Phiên (born …

Islamic Human Development Index (I-Hdi) And Poverty Reduction In Oic Countries, Maizura Md Isa, Mohamed Ariff Abdul Kareem, Mohamed Eskandar Shah, Nasim S. Shirazi
Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Islamic Economics
The fight against poverty requires a broader perspective than simply focusing on the issue of income insufficiency. Thus, adopting human development strategies is relevant to poverty alleviation because it provides an incentive to broaden the database on poverty by studying the deprivation of a human being's functioning and capabilities. The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has developed the Human Development Index (HDI), considered the most comprehensive indicator. However, it is not fully compatible and sufficient to measure human development from the Islamic perspective. This study attempts to explore the Islamic Human Development Index (i-HDI) based on the five pillars of …

Too Good To Be White: A Journey To Lose Identity In Tony Morrison’S The Bluest Eye, Rasha Maqableh, Aya Akkawi
Association of Arab Universities Journal for Arts مجلة اتحاد الجامعات العربية للآداب
The history of African-American is a record of struggle for the right of existence and acknowledgement. An integral part of that struggle is the enforcement of the values and standards of the dominant ideals of white culture that made it impossible for African-Americans to hold on their identity. In The Bluest Eye, Toni Morrison focuses on the difficulties, facing women, in obtaining identity and self esteem in a society dominated by white ethnocentrism. This paper aims at displaying the hardships and challenges of Black female characters in a world dominated by a complicated system of race, class and sex oppression …
Institutionalized Religion And Ambivalence In Charlotte Brontë’S Jane Eyre, Abdulla Dagamseh
Institutionalized Religion And Ambivalence In Charlotte Brontë’S Jane Eyre, Abdulla Dagamseh
Association of Arab Universities Journal for Arts مجلة اتحاد الجامعات العربية للآداب
In Charlotte Brontë’s novel, Jane Eyre, the protagonist, Jane Eyre, cannot avoid the trap of empire, which represents the British colonial domination in the 19 th century. Through close reading of the text and using Postcolonial and Marxist theory, I claim that Jane Eyre develops an ambivalent attitude towards oppression. That is to say, she, at one point, is very critical of using religion to oppress her own people. On the other hand, she keeps silent when the same discourse of institutionalized religion is used to justify colonizing and oppressing other people and nations. This ambivalent attitude shows that the …
Notes On The Translations Of Sūrat Al-Inshiqāq, Rema El-Isa
Notes On The Translations Of Sūrat Al-Inshiqāq, Rema El-Isa
Association of Arab Universities Journal for Arts مجلة اتحاد الجامعات العربية للآداب
This paper conducts a comparative study about four translations of sūrat alInshiqāq: Yousef Ali, Muhammad Hilali-Muhsin Khan, Pickthall and Mohammad Abdel Haleem. Multiple opinions of exposition have been provided to explore how, in certain ayas, the translators fail to find an appropriate equivalent. The translations' problems are categorized into lexical, stylistic and syntactic problems, whereas these categories also have sub-categories in order to clarify the gaps that might be encountered while translating the Qur'anic text. The problems are investigated through the theories of free and bound translation. Since religious texts, especially the sacred ones, are contextbased, they have different meanings …
