Mazar's Modified Chronology: The Preservation Of Solomonic Possibilities, Aaron By Gorner

In the polarized, post-enlightenment world of biblical studies, there is a need for measured approaches to scholarly debate which hold ample room for all possible realities. The timeline of the "Solomonic" gates at Tel-Megiddo has been debated for years, with Yiguel Yadin's conventional foundation coming into conflict with newer, more critical approaches such as Isreal Finkelstein's "Low Chronology". In this paper, it will be argued that in the polarized wreckage, Amihai Mazar and his "Modified Conventional Chronology" preserve the necessary lack of conclusion that current ambiguities call for. His work demonstrates that many explicit conclusions which polarize the debate are …

“A Critique of Aristotle: Countervoluntary Action and Moral Injury,” is a critique of Aristotle’s view that countervoluntary action does not affect character. I argue that a countervoluntary action can affect character when said action leads to a moral injury. Throughout this critique I use military experiences of moral injury to bolster my argument. This critique focuses on Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics, and is directed at his Nicomachean Ethics specifically. The upshot of my critique is to not only argue that countervoluntary action affects character, but to spotlight specifically why it is character affecting. Essentially, my aim is to call attention …

This poster presentation is about a four-week program for children with disabilities named Tech 4 Kids. The program focused on expanding opportunities for a creative outlet and improving participants' self-competence, creativity, well-being, and social-emotional skills through activities surrounding the stage, set, lighting, props, and costuming.

Menetekel: Ishmael's Black Whale And The Semiotics Of Doom, Todd Tyner Cronkhite

This study employs the narrator of Moby Dick, Ishmael, as a focal critic to interpret several potential examples of ominous writing on the wall, or menetekel. It concludes that the message of such writing, owing primarily to its irrevocably deictic relationship with the surface it is written on, is fundamentally apocalyptic in nature, regardless of its explicit content. The physical walls of the “kingdom” are incorporated into the grammar of the menetekel as object, so that its elemental message, “I was here,” becomes not only an admission of criminal trespass, but also a direct threat to the current order and …

Herbert Hochberg, born in 1930, spent the first 10 years of his life in economic hardship because of the Great Depression. Both his parents migrated from Western Ukraine and lived in the Bronx since their marriage in 1928. They took in an infant to make end’s meet, and after the war his father went into the business of building two-family homes in the Bronx, while his mother stayed at home. Hochberg grew up across from Bronx Park until 1939 when his family moved to the newly developed Northeast Bronx near Allerton Avenue and Pelham Parkway. He describes the area as …

Kashmir is the northernmost region of India that has been under territorial dispute for centuries. In recent years, China, India, and Pakistan have all claimed to have control of a certain domain of this region. Before and after India gained its independence from British rule, fighting has ensued over which nation claims dominance over Kashmir. Out of this conflict, Kashmir became an epicenter where multiple ancient languages have joined and produced variations around the region. In 1995, a documentary film called "The Dying Rooms," directed by British directors Brian Woods and Kate Blewett, was released to the public about the conditions in which Chinese children lived in at the adoption centers. China's "One Child" Policy caused for adoption centers to be completely filled, some of the children dying of neglect and malnourishment. This documentary would later go on to cause over 17,000 Chinese, female children to be adopted in Spain in years to come. The generation of adoptees in Spain were called "Generación Mei-Ming," also known as "Generation Mei-Ming." The individuals travel back to China, …

The system of education is shaped by the social location in which it is taught. This broad concept has been made apparent in relation to national collective memories of the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, a point of interest for the Center of Inclusive Excellence’s (CIE) research trip to Honolulu, Hawaii in the first week of March. Argentina and Chile have always been known to be predominantly Spanish speaking countries. However, following the conclusions of both World Wars, an interesting trend in immigration has led to both countries developing a surprisingly large German population. The majority of German immigrants consisted of three groups: ethnic Germans escaping the economic hardships of the First World War, German Jews pre- World War Two, and Nazi Sympathizers fleeing the country post World War Two.
