As Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations (J-3) at MACV from 1964-1966, General William DePuy served as the main architect of the campaign strategy implemented by General William Westmoreland in fighting both VC and NVA units during the earliest and most critical years of the Vietnam War. Following his role at MACV, DePuy assumed command of the 1st Infantry Division in March 1966 where he exhibited a distinct command philosophy and transformed the organizational culture of the “Big Red One” through a series of directives and tactical innovations. Sui Sin Far or Edith Maude Eaton was a Chinese-English short story author born in 1865 and wrote extensively in newspapers and magazines around the United States in the late 1800s and early 1900s. She began publishing short stories and journalism in the 1880s, focusing on the Chinese experience in a socially hostile American climate. Sui Sin Far’s sympathetic portrayal of Chinese characters was an important voice in an era that catered to White audiences. The Effects Of Inductive And Deductive Instruction In A Flipped Classroom On English Grammar Ability Of Undergraduate Students In Thailand, Pornpimol Sukavatee

This quasi-experimental research used a two-group pretestposttest design to compare the grammar ability between one group of students taught with an inductive approach and another group taught with a deductive approach through a flipped classroom. The study participants were Thai university students majoring in English. After the implementation, the results of the comparison between the pretest and posttest mean scores indicated a significant difference in grammar ability between the students taught with the inductive and deductive approaches in a flipped classroom. Moreover, the findings from the survey questionnaire revealed that both groups of students had positive opinions toward flipped classrooms …

Application For Grammar Skills: A Case Study Of Thai Efl Undergraduates, Munchuree Kaosayapandhu

The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of the popular Duolingo App on learning English in Thailand. Parts of the Duolingo English course for Thai speakers were used in a classroom-based intervention with two sections of English for Professional Purposes courses at a Thai university (n = 128). The students were split into two groups of users (n = 70) and non-users (n = 58), and a pre-test/post-test assessment of verb tense knowledge was conducted. The results showed that the Duolingo users had a significantly higher mean improvement in verb tense knowledge. Multiple regression showed that frequency …

The Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for languages, which was originally meant for the European context is now being widely accepted by many non-European countries. The education system in Malaysia, as outlined in the English Language Education Roadmap for Malaysia (2015-2025), has adopted the framework. Although this has taken place at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, the present study zooms in on the tertiary level only. This article explores the ethical implications associated with using ChatGPT in the context of language teaching and learning. This study investigates the efficacy of artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of artwork restoration, focusing on lost, stolen, or destroyed artworks. Employing a dual approach that combines traditional manual restoration techniques with advanced generative AI tools, the research centers on a case study of the 1785 Parisian Salon. It specifically examines the reconstitution of Antoine François Callet's painting, Achilles Dragging the Body of Hector, unveiled alongside Jacques-Louis David's Oath of the Horatii. American Blues is known for playing a role in the foundation of the country’s music. The ingredient of the musical tradition has roots going back to West Africa and was brought to the United States through the of transatlantic slave trade. During the period of slavery, it formally developed with plantation work songs which later continued after emancipation with sharecropping until the early to mid-twentieth century.
