The Rise Of Domestic Travel Imagery During Isolation: Looking At The Seclusion Of Japan And England, Tiffany I. Kang

This thesis outlines the periods and conditions of isolation, of Japan and England, and how they have contributed to the rise of domestic travel imagery. The limited travel caused by isolation provided a time for interior thinking which resulted in distinct artistic genres central to the identity of both countries.

Francesco Clemente’s body of work, especially between 1992 and 2014, theoretically draws from the Hindu concept of the avatāra, wherein the figures he portrays interminably exist in a state of flux and unraveling. Many of the figures discussed are inspired by Indian spirituality, mythology, and popular culture. Nonetheless, rather than comprehending them as literal interpretations, they exist through a prism of references.

This thesis analyzes how revolutions impact urban Cairo and its communities, specifically within artistic, architectural and archival practice while acknowledging the central role of public spaces in giving way to such revolutionary practices. Fundamentally, this paper highlights the foundational nature of such practices in developing urban communities.

"Lutz Bacher: 1975-2019" is a monographic study of the artist Lutz Bacher (1943-2019), detailing the artist's trajectory from participant in the Bay Area photography scene of the mid-1970s to an established figure in the art world. Alongside this exposition, the thesis contends theoretically with Bacher's work, turning toward the theorist Peter Osborne's recent writings to examine Bacher's multifarious engagements with the photographic image and her own stagings of contemporaneity.

Literature on mobility justice suggest that socially disadvantaged people experience uneven access to movement. The theme of diversity in terms of gender and its interplay with mobility and leisure have attracted some scholarly attention. However, research into transgender and gender diverse mobilities and its impact to leisure access remains limited, particularly from non-Western perspectives. This paper endeavors to fill this gap by investigating transgender and gender diverse mobilities in Istanbul, Turkey. During the 2017 Hong Kong Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism \ Architecture, Pak Sha Road in Causeway Bay became an arena for giant mahjong. The road was lined with artificial grass, while the air was filled with buskers' performance and the aroma of freshly baked pineapple buns and egg custards. Dr Chan Lai-kiu, the curator and architect of this project, truly demonstrated her motto, "Make it fun!", which extended to digitally elevated traditional Chinese mahjong and reenacted old Hong Kong districts.

This study aimed to introduce the Quranic recitations and Imam Al-Kisa’i, and shows the effect of the recitation of Imam Al-Kisa’i on family-related rulings. The study followed the inductive approach, which consists in extrapolating the verses related to the family rulings, then explaining the recitation of Imam Al-Kisa’i, then applying the comparative approach by contrasting the recitation of Al-Kisa’i with other reciters, then the analytical approach by analyzing the reasons for the different recitations and their impact on the jurisprudential rulings related to the family. This study aimed to tackle Khan Younis internal structure according to data obtained from Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics and to what extend it applies to the theories of cities internal structure. The study used the historical approach to track the city’s development up to present. In addition, it used the descriptive method to describe the study area and the distribution of its population in 18 neighborhoods.
