Divided By Truth: Legislative Consequences Of Presidential Signaling On Social Media, Christian D. Pereira May 2026

Divided By Truth: Legislative Consequences Of Presidential Signaling On Social Media, Christian D. Pereira

Bryant University Undergraduate Journal

How does presidential communication on social media shape legislative behavior in Congress? While presidents have traditionally been seen as capable of mobilizing coalitions through public appeals, this dynamic may no longer hold in the contemporary media environment. Focusing on posts from President Donald Trump’s platform, Truth Social, we examine whether presidential commentary referencing Congress affects subsequent legislative activity. Drawing on theories of agenda setting and elite signaling, we argue that visible presidential communication increases the partisan salience of issues and alters legislators’ incentives. Using an original dataset of Trump’s Truth Social posts merged with measures of congressional activity, we find …

Operational Architecture Models As A Determinant And Framework Of Return On Equity Structure, Aydin Dibonaventura May 2026

Operational Architecture Models As A Determinant And Framework Of Return On Equity Structure, Aydin Dibonaventura

Bryant University Undergraduate Journal

Lots of data attained within standard business practices may be seen as very significant but straightforward and many individuals fail to acknowledge the additional value that these data based strategies provide. Businesses may undergo different management structures, unique operational strategies, or complex supply chain systems from one another, but they all manage to attain ROE1 results within the same range at the end of each fiscal year. The Dupont financial analysis is a commonly used methodology that dissects the basic ROE value into profit margin, asset turnover, and financial leverage. These three values allow those to not only digest what …

Wanted: More Feminist Queer Medievalists In Tolkien Scholarship, Robin A. Reid May 2026

Wanted: More Feminist Queer Medievalists In Tolkien Scholarship, Robin A. Reid

Journal of Tolkien Research

J.R.R. Tolkien’s fiction has been identified with the medieval world, and with medieval studies, from the beginning. In this presentation, I acknowledge the extent to which Tolkien scholarship is indebted to the medievalists who established the cornerstone upon which we have all built. Current publications in queer approaches to Tolkien and feminist approaches are growing, but queer scholarship tends to focus on male characters and feminist scholarship on (straight) female characters. What is currently missing in Tolkien scholarship, based on the bibliographic scholarship I have done in the past ten years, is work by feminist queer medievalist scholars and scholarship. …

Beyond The Stars: Voyaging Into The Void In Tolkien’S Early Cosmologies, Kristine Larsen May 2026

Beyond The Stars: Voyaging Into The Void In Tolkien’S Early Cosmologies, Kristine Larsen

Journal of Tolkien Research

This paper focuses on Tolkien first two phases in crafting his cosmology, through the Ambarkanta. The concept of the Void – and boundary-transgressing celestial journeys into it – proved problematic, even in these early cosmologies, as we investigate here, not the least problem being, what exactly is the Void?

Effects Of Christian Colonization On Celtic Mythology From Ancient Ireland To Contemporary Paganism, Evelyn Hanna May 2026

Effects Of Christian Colonization On Celtic Mythology From Ancient Ireland To Contemporary Paganism, Evelyn Hanna

Aurora

Christian colonization played a critical role in reshaping Celtic mythology, yet the extent to which these transformations continue to influence modern perceptions of Paganism remains underexamined. This study investigates how the transcription of originally oral Celtic traditions by Christian monks altered the preservation of myth through reinterpretation and ideological influence. Drawing on historical and mythological sources, it analyzes key examples, including the transformation of the goddess Brigid into Saint Brigid and the reclassification of the Tuatha Dé Danann and the Aos Sí as folkloric or demonic figures. These cases demonstrate that the recording of myth was not a neutral process …

Variations In Moral Decision Making: In Morally Ambiguous Scenarios, Riley N. Eaton, Victoria Kempton, Edward Lansing, Troy R. Welker May 2026

Variations In Moral Decision Making: In Morally Ambiguous Scenarios, Riley N. Eaton, Victoria Kempton, Edward Lansing, Troy R. Welker

Aurora

People are tasked with making decisions that often come with consequences, whether it be for someone else or themselves. Due to this, there is an ambiguity in understanding what is “right” and “wrong” in a given scenario. However, limited research has examined how interpersonal relationships and intensity of the punishment may affect this decision-making process. This study examines the effect of interpersonal closeness and punishment intensity on moral decision-making, defined in terms of fairness and empathy. Participants (N = 54) from a midwestern university were randomly assigned to one of three interpersonal closeness conditions (close friend vs. close friend, close …
